Usual Suspects is a great film, I re-watched it recently, coincidentally, on the same NTSC LD - sadly the transfer isn't as great as I remembered, and is a little too dark. One of the few LDs from my collection that I shall, reluctantly, be upgrading with Kino Lorber's 4K BD release.

Do you build your own modules or do you buy moog made modules? never had a synth before....

No, I'm not knowledgeable/talented enough to build modules.

I do have other moog stuff, but the reason I bought these cases is they're the same form factor...so they'll fit well together in tiered racks if I stack them.

The plan for these cases is mostly effects and utilities. I really only mess around with this stuff with my kids, so I'd like to get modules that are really tactile as that peaks their interest. I'd like to put in an oscilloscope. Also a reverb (i found some that come with an actual spring in an external tank). There's a delay that uses casette tapes. Maybe a voltage meter. Some of it is kind of gimmicky I guess, but it's fun to explore that kind of physical/mechanical technology.

There is a cool website called modulargrid.net that let's you build out and plan different setups. It's super addictive.

I've just been buying LLCs, URLs, ad buys, trademarks and a balcony. I wish I could buy more fun stuff. (balcony is fun though)

Getting a neo geo reminded me that I use to love shmups when I was a kid and have been revisiting them over the last several months. Got a TurboGrafx Mini and beat Gradius I and II as well as Salamander and R-Type, I remember beating Gradius III on the SNES as a kid so I was feeling pretty confident with my skills.

But I've also heard that the arcade version of Gradius III is one of the hardest shmups of all time. Conveniently the ps2 was the only console generation I ever skipped which is also the most recent platform Gradius III is available on, and I managed to finally find a RGB-modded trinitron locally. Finally! I'm going to experience the arcade version of Gradius III, bet it's not nearly as hard as everyone says...

Holy shit was I wrong. I'm not able to articulate why it seems so difficult, but this game is truly kicking my ass. After several hours of attempts I made it to level 3 once, then I noticed there is apparently 10 stages of this?!? Honestly don't even care about the no continues part, not sure how I would possibly recover in the later stages respawning with no power-ups.

Still a fun game, but damn this thing is brutal. Will need to switch to trying Dragon Quest VIII for a break once in a while.

The arcade Gradius 3 is total and complete bullshit when it comes to difficulty to the point of being broken. I actually prefer the SNES version, slow motion and all.

I finally figured out there is a "wait mode" in the settings that simulates the type of latency the arcade machine had, as obviously the ps2 hardware is much more powerful and normal mode plays even faster than the original arcade version. Not that the setting has really helped much, pretty consistent at getting through the first two levels and then it all goes to shit after that. If I die I would rather just restart the entire game then try to somehow recover and keep progressing.

However that being said, I don't know if I've gotten to the "broken" part yet... I still just feel like I need to git gud.

What's with the granny's furniture everyone owns. I've always loved seeing someone's game collection on rich mahogany with many chips and marks

Can't buy new furniture - gamestop ps2 comes first. (wat)

I wish it was mahogany, try particle board with a veneer. It was also left by the previous owners of the house.

Can't speak for everyone, but in my case this is my first house and it hadn't seen any updates since 1976 when it was first built. So far I've redone the master bath, kitchen, and den, but the living room where I have the retro systems set up still has the original wood paneling and the entire room needs to be redone. I don't see a point in buying new furniture until I've decided on how to redo it, do I sand down and paint the wood paneling or keep it original? Of course all these recent storms here have been hard on the roof and the pool needs to be resurfaced and retiled too, so the ps2 may be sitting on the granny furniture for another year or two. :-(

I hate to ask how much that set you back these days. The Korean cart I got on ebay in 2010 I think was $100, and by the far the most expensive of the PGM carts I got back then.

So now you're criticizing perfectly normal furniture? I don't see the problem here. He needs to buy a new Rolex and replace his whole kitchen set with something from the overpriced douchebag section of the galleria?

In his defense, the tv stand IS really rickety and I was thinking about how I needed to replace it before he called it out lol.

For some reason I assumed he was responding to ChuChu Flamingo's kitchen chair right about that, but that makes more sense. On the other hand, they don't make furniture like they used to, and you could probably fix that with sanding and re-staining. But who has the time?
