Interesting read. I guess other people who are seeking the same thing in a school are picking it for the exact same reasons your picking it, only, they dont see eye to eye on things that really should be leveled reasoning and a responsibility as a parent to instill the same values that you teach your child.

Well the wife and I have very little faith in the Public School system as it exists currently (especially in SATX), and that's saying a lot considering my wife is a head Librarian for an elementary school and taught as a teacher for 7 of her 10 years now in the public sector. She had a hard time getting her Master's for that occupation, and I've made my way the grunt way all my life (can't say I mind, just hate the drama that comes with it), and we want better for the kids. With all the school shootings that happen these days, it's ludicrous that public schools do not have ON CAMPUS (not here sometimes, then not) armed officers at a strength of 3 or more with the training to respond and end such a problem if one occurs.

It goes from Pre K to Grade 12, so I'm covered. Most of the other parents I've talked to feel the same way.

I'll be working at public schools starting Sept 12th as it is through Scout Reach Program (through Boy Scouts of America) and am actually leaving for training in an hour. Day One Training anyhow. Be helping the messed up kids who either have no fathers, or father's in prison and all that junk. Positive mentor program basically. Arts & Crafts. Athletic stuff. I want to make some kind of a positive difference outside of the SERAC/S.E.O. field and all things paramilitary. My background and life experience got me the job. I'm actually looking forward to this change. The custodial work will now pay for her tuition. Might need to get a 3rd job for my own reasons though. *heh*

A friend hooked me up with an invite to a suite at the Twins' new stadium, so I got to go watch them get destroyed 11-0 by the Chi-Sox.

Oh well, at least I got to rock the new shirt (by the same guy who designed all my other "Bobak shirts"):

It was ridiculously humid... thank god the A/C was on full blast. The catering was okay.

Work had a luau party and a caricature artist. Instead of doing a dance or whatever I told him I wanted to ride the luck dragon from The Neverending Story.

Coincidentally, yesterday I went to King's Dominion, and got another caricature done, and this time I told the guy I wanted Robocop to be carrying me.

The way that statue of the torso sits almost parallel with your own in that first photo made me giggle.
