If you added the CD attachment to the list I might say the same.

Sega Genesis. Lots of great arcade style games you can always come back to for a quick fix. Thats why I like Neo so much.

Super Nintendo had all of those deep games I needed back then, but then when I finish the game, I put it away for ever. The only SNES games I really want to play anymore are Super Ghouls N Ghosts and Castlevania 4.

SNES. The only thing on the Genisis I liked were the Sonic games and I shortly got rid of it after I caught wind of Sonic Jam for the Saturn.

Super Nintendo. Huge variety here. From shmups to RPGs, this system had something for everyone. Games like StarFox, Darius Twin, Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI, Super Mario Kart, Super Bomberman 2, Super Metroid, Link to the Past, Super Mario World.... the list goes on and on.

But that doesn't mean it was easy for me to choose this syetm over the other 16-bit consoles. In my opinion, the 16-bit era of gaming was the best. It was the most competetive generation in gaming (with the exeption of maybe now), and there were lots of great games released. The Sega Genesis is still one of the best systems ever released, and Turbo Grafx16/CD/Duo is definetly a great system too.

But SNES wins here. Too many of my favorite games ever were released on SNES, and I can't not pick it over the competition.

Damn, this is hard...

Because:

I would say Super Nintendo, BUT the Genesis comes in the Nomad portable version.

So while I feel SNES has deeper, more beautiful games, the Genesis/Nomad has a massive library of great games you can play like SNES on your TV or take and play anywhere.

I guess if it's based on the games only (Not the Nomad factor) I suppose I'd have to go SNES.

Tough call.

Genesis, do doubt about that.

I own one since day one, and both the sheer number of great games and the arcade power of that console still rocks. Except for the Neo, I've never spent more spare time with a video gaming system before. And the cool add-ons, CD, 32X... tons of games'n'fun.

Yeah.

Revenge of Shinobi, Mercs, Gunstar Heroes, Raiden Trad, the Sonics, Strider, Herzog Zwei, Fatal Fury, Landstalker, the Thunderforces, M.U.S.H.A... da games!!

Until I read the body of the post, I was like "um, hello... Neo Geo!". But I see, besides!

Well, hands down the Super Nintendo. SNES all the way.

The real question is: who here thinks of the Neo Geo as being 16 bit. Remember when it first came out it was "24-bit". I know now that it's just a bad as 16, but still.

Heh, yeah, was the time of the famous "weenie ads". Some morons back at SNK marketing simply added the 8Bit Zilog 80 to the good ole' 16Bit M68000... "How to bash big N and Sega, pt. 1: Exaggerations".

Those were the days!

Mega CD had keio, popful mail and lunar...

Turbo had a crap load of kick ass shooters

and SNES - FF3, Secret of Mana, Arcana...

I can't pick one! I feel like if I do I am being a traitor to the others!!!

...

I was about to say if I knew Japanese then it would be easy - Super Famicon - but then... *grumble* Turbo and Mega CD also had some kick ass shit....
