Ok, so NG: DEV.TEAM needs 25 *FULLY PAID* preorders to make it financially viable to do the work needed to reconfigure Fast Striker to run on their new carts and to actually get the product through the process and into our hands.

These preorders would be at 350 EURO, and would be prepaid (your money would be out of your bank account immediately).

Are you ready to preorder to make this happen?

Isn't that option 2 of the poll?

i have the money, but i wont spend that much on that game. Especially for a reprint. my poll suggestion was different.

i love the polls on here. they always leave the most obvious choice out.

I picked option 3, as I would buy a Neo CD version, but couldn't buy it on MVS or AES at even half of the asking price.

If they're struggling to sell 25, I doubt we'll ever see the price drop much below that. If they could do a big run and actual sell it, it would be feasible. I don't really mind the price because from what I've seen people are willing to buy their carts on the secondary market for original retail price or more. I also don't mind supporting them, as I think they're making some pretty killer games for the Neo. In a sick sort of way I kind of feel like I am contributing to the arts ;)

i agree with that- but the cost is prohibitive. especially for an mvs game.

Just for reference, the MSRP for a Japanese Metal Slug mvs kit was 98,000 yen back in the day. More than triple the MSRP of the corresponding Metal Slug homecart, which was 29,800 yen.

the huge difference is one was for commercial business use and the other for personal. now that arcades are dead, more people own mvs's because they are the cheaper option. it's kind of a silly figure to compare it to, as the production costs were very similar. the only difference was that you could make money with one back in the day (something that has also reversed today).

Basically. The only reason MVS games cost what they did back in the day was because they were revenue generators (sometimes). Of course, SNK could absorb a lot more of the costs as well during production by both having larger runs and partnerships with suppliers to cut much better deals. NG : Dev has to work with what they have. Development, test, production, printing and just keeping the lights on and the rent paid is expensive work. I'm not surprised of the price, really. Sure, I'd love for them to be around $100 as well. If they could make that happen, I'm sure they would make much bigger runs and we'd all have a copy and be happy :\ This is a very specialized and expensive market, though.... and let's face it, a lot of people in the hobby don't flinch at the price. I'm sure that factored into the platform of choice for development as well. What platform can you make games like this, sell a few copies, but still break even or make a little scratch. I do flinch at the price. It is expensive, but I figure I can splurge every once in a while. Especially since I picked up the majority of my MVS stuff on the cheap.

This. It's not that most Neo ppl couldn't scrape together 350 euros if they wanted to, but more like is the game really worth that much.

Third option: "I am interested in Fast Striker Dreamcast OR I am interested in Fast Striker NeoCD"

OK, I just posted in the other thread about setting a date. I though around tax time when a lot of us would have extra money would be great. I picked option 2 as I don't have the money this second. If I can get a date I will make sure I have the money. I don't want to sell other stuff just yet but if this is for sure I will get the money.

I loved Fast Striker on the Dreamcast and would love to play the great bullet hell shmup on my actual MVS cab.

Well, at this point they can't even get more than 4 people to fake-commit to it on the largest Neo Geo website on the web. I have a feeling we're not seeing run two. Sad, but this really is an incredibly niche product.

Why dose everything have to sell out in a day around here? Why set a goal and reach the terms, as other and I have said with some time I can and will finally commit.

i get why they need to presell. they are a small group and parts aren't cheap, but a preorder time of more than just 'now' would be appreciated for those willing to commit to buying.

Well, and to be fair, they aren't the ones who said buy it now-or-never. They've only suggested it would take at least 25 to make a reprint worthwhile. So, maybe my comment was a bad one. We have 14 people interested now or in the future. That's a damn good start.

please dont take my comments as an attack on the dev team. they do good work and it is great seeing more stuff come out. i guess i took the comment the wrong way. good luck with the preorders.

The pathetic US Dollar compared to the Euro isn't helping much either. I'd consider it if the price were closer to what home carts were selling for new, but at the current exchange rate it's about twice that price.

This isn't a knock on NG Dev, making a run of 25 of something surely isn't cheap. More of a knock on my personal finances.

Exactly, the US dollar has dropped. When I pre-ordered Gunlord it was almost a year ago. If I wanted a refund I'd lose between $60-75 just from the drop.

Wish I had the money to support this but it's just too much to spend on one game.... Who knows, I may still win the lottery but till then....

They might have more people interested if the price was lower. Kinda funny how that works. If NG Dev could lower the price as more and more people signed on, more people would be interested. Doesn't mass production subsidize costs?
