not sure if anyone yet mentioned it but I am almost convinced that this thing is going to be tied the NX. in other words the next Nintendo console will rely heavily on augmented reality and the fact that it may be partially portable is due to this function. the whole Pokemon Go madness is guiding the masses to adopt the NX fanatically Wii-like

I was kind of thinking the same thing. Pokemon Go, and the upcoming Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing games are relying heavily on portable, and I assume AR, though I guess the up and coming mobile releases haven't been confirmed as such. Still, I can see AR being a huge component in the NX. Not sure if it will retain the hype that long. I kind of see the majority of people will drop off the Pokemon Go wagon once the ain't this cool buzz wears off. There's really not a very deep experience in the game itself, but more of just a social component that I'm not even entirely certain Nintendo planned on.

Nintendo are definitely the masters of kind of getting dumb lucky with stuff, and then not really knowing what to do with it... But I can totally see AR being big with NX.

yeah good points. I also thought that bridging the gap in time will be hard as by the time the NX comes out maybe the AR thing will have worn off a little. They just need to announce it next month at Gamecom as they are rumored to be doing (they are not assisting TGS apparently), that's a few weeks away. if it is an AR thingy, then they can cash in and ride the hype train till release. the fact they are trying to keep Sony's and MS' prying eyes from their kit means they feel they have some sort of game changer in the works. an N if anything is a trendsetter, toymaker more than what is now deemed traditional console videogame maker. IMO ofcourse

I can see them wanting to make it so the things you do in Go can be used on the console or vice versa. That certainly would sell a lot of systems, presuming it is still popular by then. With this kind of thing, it is hard to tell how long it will be. I sort of feel that it is not at its peak level, and also that I can't see it lasting for a long period of time. As with most other forms of entertainment these days, I could see it dropping big time in a month.

Also there is something about this concept that blows my mind. The fact that it is playable literally everywhere is one. That there are stops and gyms in my neighborhood and everywhere else. That I can see these things in a fantasy world/satellite view of the street layouts around me. It is amazing in a way I can't put into words.

SUPER HARAM WARNING

展hat if this technology is transferred to Islamic jihadists and the Islamic jihadists have an app that shows them where Christians are located geographically?

This is why I don't like this game. People get wrapped up in playing it and manners go out the window. I get stuck behind people playing it walking on the sidewalk, in front of me in line, etc. Like teenagers and millenials needed another reason to walk around glued to their phone.

My thoughts exactly.

I never saw the appeal of Pokemon, I guess I was too old when it came out. But I installed the game on my phone and caught one of the bugs when I was in the toilet. After that it said I had to go to the park or something so I just uninstalled it.

Pass.

I downloaded it two days ago. A few girls at work talked me into it. I kinda missed the Pokemon era being in high school it didn't appeal to me. I went to the park last night after work, like I normally do to just relax for a few minutes and unwind. I'm normally the only one there, but this time there were a few groups of people, at midnight, hanging out in the park playing. Probably close to 20 people. A few people approached me and just started conversation and showed me a little about the game. Like spinning the poke stops to get items. Which I never would have figured out.

I think the game is a good idea. Seems like an easy way to meet some people where you otherwise would not.

I just hit level 6 and have yet to enter a gym. There's actually one at my work and a Poke stop though. So I may check it out on my break tomorrow. I have no idea what to do other than catching Pokemon. I hear the game is much deeper than just catching them. So hopefully it gets a bit more interesting.

My time has really been devoted to the mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius though. That's a pretty solid games.

The current method depends on if you are trying for level or for stronger ones. You ideally want to up their strength before evolving ones you are going to keep. But also the way the game works, it makes sense to evolve a pokemon before you transfer it because of the XP you get for evolve. Because I think you still get 1 candy for the evolved version anyways. I don't think people have reached a high enough level to determine the breakpoints on efficiency yet. The only one you probably don't want to evolve first before transfer is the Magikarp. The evolve cost on that is pretty high in comparison.

If you upgrade the pokemon (the part using the stardust and candy) and then you evolve, it keeps the % from the last level. That % is represented on that arc behind their picture on the individual page. It is unlike other games with upgrades where you start out at the bottom of the lower end of the new level.

Currently the overall goal seems to be to have a strong pokemon that you can put into a gym. There is nothing beyond that and the rest (inventory management, IRL social interaction, landmark exploration, exercise etc) is what you make of it.

Can you dumb down that evolution guide for me?

I evolve Pokemon, then transfer them to get the candy and hopefully have enough to evolve another.

My most potent is a high CP Starmie that I've been taking gyms over with.

Its not so much a guide, but how I understand it. I have been reading a lot about it, that's all.

1: you get xp (500) for evolving Pokemon. 2x xp (1000) if it is one that is not registered in the Pokedex. 2x (1000/2000) either of those if you use the lucky egg.
2: you need stardust and candy to power up your pokemon. You only need candy to evolve.
3. You get stardust and candy by catching Pokemon. Catch all pokemon that you don't have, or are working on evolving.
4. You get 1 candy for transferring an unwanted Pokemon to Professor Willow.

Key to #4 is you get 1 candy for any Pokemon. Even evolved ones or base ones, they seem to be the same. If there is an xp return, I forget if it matters. So basically you have a choice where if you want to get the XP, you can evolve a Pokemon for the XP and then transfer it out. You were going to get the 1 candy anyways, but obviously you are using the extra candy for the evolve.

This would work for the shit pokemon you'll eventually end up with. Its the same as teh game boy games, eventually you are going to find that the lower tier pokemon are not worth dealing with. The exception in this game is that those can be used for the stardust and the evolve/dump trick. For shit pokemon, it isn't going to matter if you are using the candy, because you aren't going to be using that for the pokemon type anyways. Even a caterpie can eventually become a Butterfree or the widdle or whatever can become Beedrill... but those evolves are probably going to be crap compared to other 2nd and 3rd tier pokemon.

Impressive.

I just spent over an hour at a local park, initially I thought there was one or two cars there for the same thing. 10 mins later there's fucking 20 people walking all over the place, 20 cars parked in the street all running. Cars coming and going, people rocking up with 6 packs and shit, cops doing their rounds.
Pokemon GO is a bit more serious than I had thought...

Hah wow, could be worse, like the people doing it at Arlington National Cemetary or the Holocaust Museum. Nothing says classy like a charizard inside the room of shoes, or a Missingno on top of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

I went to the California State Fair on Friday, and like 70% of people under the age of 40 were fucking with their phones playing this shit and bumping into people because they can't walk and smartphone at the same time.

This game is available ONLY in the north east coast of South Korea due to a glitch. I went there today and had a blast with it! I caught at least 25 pokemon today! There were many other folks from other parts of Korea there too playing it!
