I'm casually messing with it since Nintendo isn't trying to coin rape people to play it. If anything it's encouraging. It makes you get off your ass and move around for lots of good in game reasons... incubating an egg, finding pokemon, finding waypoints to spin to get free pokeballs and other crap to use (instead of buying it), finding a gym (I've not battled yet, not sure I want to, I like just finding the stuff more like Pokemon Snap N64), and other oddities.

Maybe I'm missing something but is there combat in this outside of the gym? I just see little bits of grass pop up, if you go by it I guess that makes a pokemon pop up, then you just throw a pokeball in its face and you catch it. Seems to be the extent of it other than throwing some spin on the ball for a measly few extra XP and timing the hit when the green circle gets the smallest (or whatever color based on str/rarity.)

Many years ago, I was in the Arena League. It was pretty fun, but along with being in DCI it was too expensive at the time. At least this one you don't have to spend any money and don't have to tool around for 2 hours trying to move a truck.

Pokemon Go fuck yourself.

This 100%

Never got into Pokemon shit at all. My brother was into the gameboy games. I tried them a couple times. I found those games to be so fucking boring.

Augmented Reality might end up having some pretty cool games in the future, but this is one I don't see myself getting into.

You really think AR is going to be a thing?

I have a feeling that its going to get outright banned or severely crippled. Its incredibly disruptive.

I honestly have no idea. I would imagine that if it does though, that things will be tweaked a bit. It wouldn't surprise me if some stores or venues do start banning AR in the near future. I could see stores getting fed up with people walking into and breaking merch for sure.

I've never been a big fan but the more butt hurt people get about this game the more I enjoy playing it.

Yep. I'll admit, I felt a bit foolish being out in public as a grown ass man throwing pokeballs in broad daylight. Like I was harboring some weird sick fetish or addiction I didn't want the neighborhood to catch on about... Then I realized, fuck those fucks... and also... holy shit everyone is playing this. Hearing how some people are so butt hurt or dead inside that they would never even try the app, or understand how anyone would even think of playing it, makes me hold my damn phone up proud and say, "GOTCHA, you damn Pidgey..." Every time I see one now.

I had a friend tell me this, verbatim, "You're playing Pokemon Go? Why? You're an adult. I wouldn't play that, I have a mortgage and bills to pay..."

I just laughed and thought how fucking sad that sounds. Told him, "Have fun being dead inside... Good job being a wage-slave, though." Glad he's keeping things on lock... Keep the machine running with your fear of going outside and actually having fun with people for a few minutes every day. ;)

Really is funny how fucking sad some people are, but all I know is I'm seeing a hell of a lot of people having fun, getting out, chatting other people up, and not being whiny little bitches about hating on some app.

It is revealed, those who complain the most about it are those who are spending too much time on social media. The kind of people who need to go outside into the "IRL" as they say, leave the mom's basement, talk to people face to face. Oh wow, did you know you can use Pokemon Go to facilitate this type of experience?

LOL @ someone being "dead inside" because they don't play or like a video game that you enjoy.

I'm glad you enjoy it. But people who don't play it aren't "dead inside"... It's a fucking video game.

I think a response of I can't enjoy something because I have a mortgage and bills to pay are more indicative of being dead inside than not wanting to play Pokemon Go, but you seem to be grasping at straws to support your hate for this game for some reason, so if you want that one, you can have it.

I was too old/cool for school for that Pokemon shit when it first came out back in the late 90's. It's always been an irritating "kids game" in my eyes...this is nothing different.

...and don't get me started on the insanely retarded fucking cartoon...god, few things make me want to punch a monitor like that shitty show does...

I don't have a problem with it. I'll also give it props that it's getting people out of the house. However I have no interest in playing Pokemon Go. It's just not the type of game I like. If I want to go outside and get stares I'll take my cat for a walk in the pet stroller. He demands it anymore anyways.

I bet that's the same kind of stuff that bronies say when someone throws some shade their way.

Probably, but those guys are weirdos, so...

Right... from the guy who loves the game about capturing adorable little animals to fight against other people's adorable little animals.

Look, if you like the game and it gets you out of the house, vaya con dios. Doesn't make the rest of us "dead inside". It means we have better things to do with our time.

It's alright, everyone around me is obsessed with the app though. I currently can't play it so I feel like I'm missing out.

Pretty much. I mean, we're all on a video game forum; dedicated to a defunct video game platform, at that. We're all weirdos. The fact that I don't want to play some ghey Pokemon cell phone game doesn't mean I'm a "wage slave who's dead inside".
