Playstation control signal decoder

Is there any not to expensive way to decode the playstations control signal? Adapter, circuitary diagrams or just general tips would be greatly appriciated. Not to mention more English lessons it seems. ^^;;

I've checked out the ps->neo converter as that seems to be usuable, but tekken tag is a button game. It could be worked through by using the neos "select button" but there are some other problems. All those useless functions such as autofire and slow motion will screw things up. :P Has anyone modified these devices.
