I just got Collection 3 & 4. Any reason why some of the games don't have the Neo Geo Bootup screen? From what I am noticing it is the games that go beyond the 330 Meg Spec. I remember the Giga power one and I have not seen it on the Switch Collections. I am loving these collections, I just saw that Vol 5 & 6 were available with 7 & 8 being on preorder. I wonder if they plan to bring any of the MVS only games out on a collection.?

If i had to guess, Hamster and SNK are only doing these physical ACA releases for the Switch might be because of its much larger userbase at the moment.
I don't think that's totally the issue since the PS4/PS5 userbase is pretty god damn huge. If you'd said Xbox, I'd kinda agree with you.

Yeah I agree the userbase is huge, but the audience for this kind of game as a physical release is probably too small on PS4 by comparison though, especially in Japan.

PS4 is a dead platform worldwide and PS5 is basically irrelevant now in Japan, where these games will sell the majority of their units.

Nintendo has like 90% of the hardware market every week. Switch 2 is the dominant platform, but Switch 1 is still doing like triple what the PS5, PS4, and Xbox are doing combined.

I'd honesty agree with you if it wasn't for the fact we're still getting new PS4 games to this day. Granted every single games works on the PS5 which is fine by me but honestly the only reason the PS4 has lasted way longer then it should have with new releases is because of Covid & fucking scalpers who made the PS5 almost impossible to get @ retail prices.

You're right overall that the PS4 is a dead system but the PS5 isn't some kind of tiny crowd funded piece of hardware. There's a huge install base out there with that system so I feel like ACA is just leaving money on the table.

They released the Castlevania GBA collection on PS4 in Japan a couple weeks back and it sold less than 2000 copies. A Neo Geo compilation is likely to be less popular than a Castlevania collection.

Possibly, I know the Contra collection did ok but for now I'm going after the Gradius Origins collection as M2 is doing the work on it which is an instant sale for me.

How are these compilations? Lag or other shit not working like it should? I am actually waiting for them to release a collection with all the compilations, like on PS2.

I like the Hamster ACA releases, I've bought a few of their SNK releases and some others. It's solid emulation and I know $8 for a rom is dumb but I like their scan line and display options. M2 has way worse screen options on some of their collections, IMO.

It would be cool to have a physical collection of all Visco games on the Neo Geo. Does Visco still have the rights to their Neo Geo catalogue or was it acquired by JoshProd years ago? If so, why the hell they haven't reach a deal with Hamster to put the Neo Geo Visco games on ACA?

Wasn't Crossed Swords 2 included in one of the recent Evercade cartridges?
The second one includes Crossed Swords 1. If it were Crossed Swords 2, why hasn't it been dumped yet?

I think he's talking about the partial Neo-Geo CD to AES/MVS conversion by Razoola and NeoBits. I haven't tried it myself. I believe it uses the music from Crossed Swords, as one would imagine, since CSII uses redbook music.

Hey, good to see a post from you! I don't think Razoola's unofficial hack was included in an Evercade release.
