What would ACA stand to gain by releasing 10 of their $4 ports physically for $40? It just doesn't seem like good business. These games aren't new, sure there are a few people new to them, but given that half of the NG library was released 30 or more years ago it seems like the potential market would already know which games they like or don't like and are worth buying (or could judge that themselves via emulation), and likely have bought the individual titles they'd want via the eShop. $4 to pick and choose 10 titles from the eShop sans manufacturing/distribution is a better deal for all involved than these 10 at $40 physical releases.
Oh yeah totally. I already grabbed the ones I want, so there's no reason for me to pick these up either.

This isn't the first time a bunch of Hamster ports got put in a collection though, also see Konami Anniversary Collection or Taito Milestones (which added one new port at least, Thunder Fox).

As it stands now, what is the point of releasing physical collections at the same price as digital where a customer can't choose which 10 games they want?

But these aren't the same price as digital, they're half the price? ACA Neo games are $8 each, in this bundle they're $4 each. Them being half price is kinda the whole point.

The ACA series has shot its wad with the Neo releases and won't be seeing any more. This is a good way to drum up some interest in older titles and make some coin on games that probably at this point sell little to no copies, plus targeting the LRG and physical goobs that lap up any kind of physical Switch release.

lol physical
The goobs holy grail
After that incident where Sony "accidently" expired a lot of digital titles on their store which in turn locked people out from their games, I'm still not fully 100% behind an all digital future yet.

Well, you ain't got much choice so keep buying "physical" switch carts where they've saved money on the storage size only putting a stub downloader on it - when the servers will eventually go away 🌈

I don't understand why anyone, in their right mind, other than a total n00b to the world of Neo Geo / rabid Switch/video game collector (emphasis on "collector"), would want to buy either of those collections.

I mean, I bought a Neo-Geo Mini, so obviously I can be duped into re-buying these games in any nonsensical form.

This I agree with 100%. NIntendo has been known for years to have zero respect for preservation.
Oh but you're wrong my friend.
Nintendo will preserve the fuck out of that SMB3 and gladly sell it to you again for $10 when eShop 7 opens for the switch 3 pro+ next week.

You mean that subscription service where you pay 20 bucks a year to play NES and SNES roms that you don't even own?

That whole scheme is just nasty to begin with it only being made worse when you have to give them more money yearly to get access to the N64 roms. Not to mention their heavy-handed attacks on rom sites with lawsuits threatening to ruin people if they don't take down the roms for a lot of games they don't ever plan on releasing ever again.

Jokes on Nintendo tho since people can easily find roms for their games with a little bit of effort.

Nintendo these days just reminds me of Disney when it comes to their IPs. Their way of handling things is so antiquated.

The worst part is that those carts aren't build to last anymore. I get that you'd rather buy physical still if it ends up saving you money but the whole preservation thing is stupid when it comes to flash technology. A few DS carts already died on me out of nowhere. Just hack dat shit if you want real preservation.

Yeah, I find this kinda crazy too. Old mask ROM chips are basically indestructible. Flash memory only lasts about 10 years. Ah modern technology, it's always about the short term and profit.

I tend to buy physical on the switch just cuz I find it easier to swap in a cart than deal with shuffling things around in the very limited storage.

Nintendo is the last place you should buy downloads.

This has been so true for us. When it comes to the switch, we usually buy physical copies since it’s easier for all of us to play in the same household without dealing with Nintendo’s restrictive DRM/lacking options to share games in a family across different users even when they are on the same console (especially with kids who like to play the same game).

Sony’s is a lot more lenient with allowing all users on a console to access the same game and dlc content, so we usually buy our digital games there instead and try to pickup physical copies on switch to avoid the hassle.

If you have PS1 games on PS3 and they come up with “enhanced” versions on PS4 a la cool boarders or Tekken 3 you get the game free on PS4 which is nice.

Understandable from someone who rates Jubei as decent character. ;)
AUTISM MODE ENGAGE: Jubei is objectively top tier in FFS. Kim is the only character who legitimately vies for the top position.

Neo Turf Masters for PS4 ACA can be glitchy and freeze. No update seems to fix this. Gaurou never had any problems at all though.
