Be careful about ordering this from SLG. I heard that people who ordered the last couple of Retro Bit releases never got them. It seems SLG hasn't paid Retro Bit for the games. SLG must be using the money collected from the preorders to fund other games.

I would recommend never ordering anything from Strictly Limited Games. My order of Ray'z Arcade Chronology from August 2022 is still "in production" while they are continuing to issue new preorders. Beyond bad business. Don't give these people your money.

Me to I’m thinking they will go out of business before I get everything. Unfortunately @Jon and I pool our orders together and I know he’s mad AF he didn’t get King of Demons yet since we ordered that through them

And what pisses me off even more is things like Rayz have already had physical releases (albeit missing one of the games) that has been out for years now

Exactly, I’ve pretty much wrote off of ever receiving that game. Their lack of updates is baffling- there is no reason why these games haven’t been shipped.

Just buy the Japanese release, it has all the games.

FYI - the shipping from Amazon.jp to North America (well Canada at least) has come down to a far more respectable 4k yen. Last week it was double that! lol

The very first thing you hear after pressing start are those cruddy sounding white noise effects used for bullets and explosions. They are 100% the exact same as what cheapo SMS games used. Being instantly reminded of Transbot or Astro Warrior is definitely not a flattering comparison.

My Amazon JP order shipped out a few days ago. Annoyingly, for pre-orders the only shipping option was ECMS Express which is significantly more expensive than the standard Amazon JP shipping options available now that the game is out.

Probably depend on how much other stuff you're having shipped. Individually, probably not once you factor the handling and buyers fee. I just paid for direct shipping. Coming via DHL, should be here Tuesday.

Yeah I had other stuff waiting in storage for shipping. But the price FedEx has gone up considerably in the last couple of months

My copy arrived from Amazon yesterday... only just opened the package as been away with work for a few days.

Packaging is good quality, looks and feels like an early 90s MD release... no beveled edge on the pcb though :annoyed:

Think I'll play it through a cart adapter to protect my system.

I still dont even have an email saying mine is soon to ship. I guess i might be running mine through a game genie to protect the cart slot

I'll guess I'll do the same as Tarma. Check the adaptor that I've been using for over 20 years... Also not beveled.

Which adapter are you using, out of interest? I've got a Megakey and the pcb is beveled so happy to use it. I played Demons of Asteborg that way... until I fucked it off for being far too hard for its own good.

Anyhoo piccies:

So, very much in keeping with original carts... the game genre graphic on the rear of the insert is a little dim, it's the right logo, but I'm going to say it was scanned, and not at a high enough rez to make it look strong enough in print.

The case is very tight, so be careful when opening as your cart may spill out. Not sure why the bothered with the retail hanger, 99% of Jap boxes never had them... may have to remove if it won't bend so it can be stored properly.

I'll try and get some time in on the game itself later.

I got one of these. not my picture.
My cartridge also arrived. Today I would say it is a little lighter then the old release. But certainly not bad.
The hang tab is probably standard for modern reproductions from china. I lke the japanese style single case for the added sountrack.
