Just wondering... what are everyone's opinions regarding the Phantom 1 converter? I know it's a bit more expensive than just buying an MVS board, but space is more important than money at the moment, I plan on getting a full cabinet when I get a bigger place.

So far the biggest complaint I've seen is that it doesn't work in some systems with worn cartridge slots, but that is a fixable problem. I'm very interested since I can get many MVS carts for around 25 bucks as pop which would be $100+ for the AES versions.

if you want to save cash on buying Neo Games..get the converter and buy the cheaper MVS version of the game you desire, better than coughing out 3x the price for the AES games...BONG! <IMG SRC="smilies/loco.gif" border="0">

That was the plan. I was just wondering if there were any drawbacks to using the converter, or any problems with it.

A great product from !Arcade. Allows any encryted carts to be played, works pefectly even with debug chip.
The only complaint is that the converter teeths (the 2 boards which was a bit out of alignment, just file a bit and its OK. Another problem is that the converter is very fragile without any protection, (static shock) if your MVS carts hold too tight on the converter, u will begin to worry how u going to remove it without damaging the converter.
For this , I make a case specially to hold the converter using one of the home cart case. They fit perfectly.

The Phantom - 1 Convertor is a decent product. Though of a couple flaws in it, the product is solid overall. The price seems to be dropping on it and this little beauty can save you a great deal of money instead of purchasing the home AES cart verions of games.

Hey, thanks a lot guys. I'll probably order one by the end of the week. Deffty: how much would you sell one of your home made cases for?

Hi everyone~
Actually the case I made is not for sale.
Its actually not difficult and below are the steps;
All u need is a defective home cart,
open and take out the 2 boards and
put the !Arcade converter into it.
It fit nicely except for the 2 RCA jacks.
Just saw the extra parts away, and also cut a hole for the 2 RCA jacks.
U need to also cut a small piece of plastic to hold the converter together, put some superglue on the case to stick the case together.
Finally use a black tape to cover the open parts which had been saw away.
I uploaded the pics to
DolphinLord's SNK NeoGeo Domain (Hope the links will work) http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/dolphinlordssnkneogeodomain
under Photos by deffty- MVS to AES converter
Hope my instruction are not very confusing.

Sounds simple enough. Guess I could get an AOF2 cart for 19 bucks and sacrifice it, for the good of the cause.
