Opinions on Metal Slug 3? Help a fellow Neo fan out!

I've played MS and MSX. Both are great games, although they aren't quite as good as their reputations indicate IMO. Is Metal Slug 3 more o'the same, or does it have a bit more variety (and hopefully length) to it? I'm sorta considering picking up an MVS-to-home system converter, since picking up the Japanese AES home cart is pretty costly. Any opinions? Thanks!

It also has multiple paths (like in MS 2nd mission if you played that) that adds to the replay value. Its going to be one of the first games I pick up once I get my MVS and super nova.

Aaron,

I just picked up MS 3 and IMO it lives up to its reputation. Its certainly is an improvement over MS X which is a very good game in its own right. The option of being able to choose different paths makes the game great and ensures replay value.

guys - I owned MS 1 and 2 on neo CD. Once I "upgraded" to my cart system I have yet to pick up MS game. question: How do the Shock Trooper games stack up against MS?
any insight will be appreciated

zapr- The shock troopers games a very good. They have alot in common with MS. It has an overhead view instead of side. MS is still the better game though. I would reccomend it if you like MS games and already own them or at least as many as you can get. The 2nd one is better than the first. The one thing their lacking when put up to the MS games are the animations. Those are IMO what make MS so fun to play.

Every Neo owner should have this one in his/her collection. What, you have not gotten it yet!

It's my favorite game for now (Blazing Star is in the mail) <IMG SRC="smilies/drool.gif" border="0"> I suggest you buy a copy as soon as possible. The replay value is great and the game is hard too.

Hi,

MS series and ST series are two different type games. Both are awesome in their own rights, so a comparision can not be made. If I had to pick a winner, I would go with the MS series though.

Shock Troopers is an update to the Ikari Warriors type game, overhead gunner takes on a huge army rambo style. Fun for a while,

Lockheed, if you did not like MS or MSX that much, chances are that MS3 wont make you a convert either. Personally, I love all of them in their own way but it sounds like this type of game is not for you.

zapr, Shocktroopers is a GREAT game. I recently picked it up on MVS and I use the !Arcade! adaptor to play it on my home system. Graphically, its a notch below the Metal Slug games but it does have a great soundtrack and superb two player action. Shocktroopers 2nd Squad is alright but not as good as the first.
