I used to be quite into bone thugs I loved their style etc. but it makes much less sense that they do an art project album than Wu Tang. for one Wu Tang have always been more experimental and art-inclined - I wasn't that surprised to find out they would be doing this album to be honest, and I think its a pretty interesting idea conceptually.

Agreed. But man, I remember buying the first Bone Thugs record on a whim back in '94 because Eazy was attached to it. Even though I could only understand roughly 25% of the lyrics at first, it blew me away. Rap fans were truly spoiled back then. There was always something new and exciting to buy at the record store.

the 90s man... such a creative exiting time for popular music - so many genres maturing and refining their art. bone thugs where amazing. they had grace, played with goth-tinged themes (hip hop did in a big way in the 90s) that to me where really attractive. it was beautiful man. hip hop nowadays is ugly and proud. ugly can work but it's also a way to hide lack of talent.

in the end though a lot of these hip hop legends shouldn't be hard up, they should be taken care of somehow. might not be a popular opinion but they shouldn't be pushed aside like they have been.

Right. I don't think that got a wide release at the time. Was referring to Creepin On Ah Come Up. Didn't hear Faces of Death until much later.

truth be told I think there's a tendency within hip hop - not something generalized but definitely identifiable - which is to fuse hip hop with art - art as in the canvas or conceptual type. the A$AP posse are taking strides in this direction for sure. on some level I can kind of understand it - but I think it's a money grab too - the way street art became gallery art some years back.
Danny Brown who associates with A$AP Rocky I think is less inclined to make art in this manner for the sake of money, but more for the sake of creativity. I'd look into his stuff if you haven't already (anyone reading)

Thx, will do. There's still good stuff out there. Just not as much and it's harder to find if you don't keep up with things.

hey no problem dude. it's actually not easy to listen to (atleast for me it isn't. the way it's infused with electronic dance music together with his nasal slur is a bit much) but pretty interesting.
I actually enjoyed a couple of things that some female rappers done a few years ago - Kid Sister and this white girl called Amanda Blank who is in turn associated with the likes of Santigold. in fact I think female hip hop is mostly where it's at as it is in many fields of music these days. but that comes down to tastes.
