Some people just have strong opinions, that's all. I'll tell you straight off that I play and love playing SvC. I think it's a real fun game, but it's problems are really glaring. This is definitely a sequel game, where the next will (hopefully) fix all that was wrong plus add more.
This isn't as good as CvS2 though, not by a long shot. All consoles of CvS2 look graphically the same. I have all 3 console versions, and I'm willing to bet that if I ran one of those versions through my capture card you'd have no idea which one it was. The only real difference amongst all of them is that the Xbox has longer loading and the Roll-Cancels taken out.
CvS2 has 6 Grooves which give you the feel for that certain type of Capcom/Snk game. This game has all the characters plus tons of replayability when you factor in that characters are to be played totally different within a specified groove. You can tell a lot of time went into making this game the grandaddy of them all. That's why this is one of the most played serious competitive fighters today, and will be for the next 10 years. This is something SvC will never be able to claim - except for maybe the sequel if they do what they need to do.
Still though, people will shit on every new Neo release. It's just a habit this site has. You can tell who likes what newer Neo games by the threads in the Game Play forum where people discuss certain strats for games such as Matrimelee, ROTD, etc. I must say though, most of the people doing the bitching are the ones who buy the homecart, because I'll agree with them - most of the new releases aren't worth the $335+ price tag, but it doesn't make them bad games - especially if you're an arcade nut. Worth $335? Nah. Worth $50 port? You betcha. Worth the 25/50 cents per play at your local arcade? That, my friend, is that the Neo has always been about
