Okay, I take back the things I said about Guile...

I really put the time in and I finally got the hang of him. What made it fun was the great feeling of over coming the challenge of my normal way of playing with Shotos/Iori/Kyo. His supers are quite comboable and he does have some power. Guile's definitely a change of pace and he's fun to play, but I would how ever never use him if I really wanted to beat someone ;)

So I take back the crummy things I said about Guile and he's sitting nicely as my 4/5 character in SvCC.

Guile still plays like shit.

But that doesn't matter, as long as you enjoy using him.

Yeah, definitely wouldn't try to play competitively with him :loco:

That's part of the fun though, trying to play competitively with shit characters. That's why Dan is one of my most used characters in this game :D

I wouldn't say Guile's shit... (lol too funny :D)
But he definitely requires some level of skill to play him...

It's actually interesting to play hard to use or what you guys call "shit" characters :P
Challenging too...
If everyone were to pick top tier characters, I'd say games would get boring fast...

I never saw why people thought he was bad. Honestly I think he's pretty beefy. His sonic booms come out pretty quickly one after the other.

Any character requires some level of skill to play them, that's irrelevant. What happens when everybody picks top tiers? Well, you find the holes in their playing, which no longer makes them top tiers. That's how you handle situations like that.

Guile does play like shit in this game. He has none of his normals that made him the beast in his SF2 incarnations, and brings nothing new to the table other than short charging which leads to scrubfest 2k3.

An expert using a top tier character like say Geese would still be difficult to beat against an expert using a low tier character...

Putting his infinite aside...his moves have high priorities and stuff too...

Seriously if you play in the arcades, you'd know what I mean...
People would just walk away when you choose these characters...
I'm not saying it's impossible to beat them...

and btw, I fail to see that just because he's not like his SF2 counterpart, it means that he sucks.
Guile does has advantages in this game... he definitely turtles at his best... and his sonic booms comes out like there's no tomorrow...
Sure he's probably a beast in that game... but this is another game and surely you can't exactly expect the same...
So probably a new way of using him and strategy is needed...
thats just what I think :)

Personally, I would never walk away from any opponent that picked Zero, Geese, Chun-Li, or V-Ken. Those who walk away are just pussies and I'm glad I don't frequent the arcade that you hang in. This game hasn't even been out that long, and people are wanting to cry about tiers.. figure out a hole in their game play and capitalize on it. That's what fighters are all about.

And if you read what I said, I said that Guile brings nothing new to the table other than his short charges. I mean, if you took SF2 Guile, stripped him of his important mediums, gave him another super and an exceed that has shit for range, with 1-second charges.. you'd have this turd.

He is a beast in his SF games, and I didn't expect Guile to play the same, but I didn't expect him to be a turd either. There are a lot of SNK characters in CvS2 that don't play the same as their original form, but are still very good characters.

The strategies so far with Guile are laughable at best (read the other Guile thread), and due to his limited options not much else can be done with him.

I agree, Guile's lacks of normals kills his effectiveness. I'm a nut for normals and second comes my specials. If he had better 2-in-1's and what not, I'd love him to death.

Yeah of course it's easier said then done eh? :D

Anywho, I was just talking bout the infinite users like Geese and Zero... not Chun Li, Violent Ken...
Cos to me their still legit to challenge :)

Most games have characters with infinities, or 100% combos, so why they would cry over these 2 is unknown. Hell, there's probably more characters in this game that have infinities that they don't know about yet. What happens when those are exposed? Do they walk away from the machine from those characters too?

It's complete bull. Geese's infinite sounds easy, but to pull it off in a heated match is another thing. Zero's infinite has to be done just right too, or else it won't juggle. These infinities aren't that big of a deal.

Geese's infinite is superbly easy to perform and could be done just from *ONE* mistake from the opponent...

"These infinities aren't that big of a deal."

...Right.

Most infinites can be accessed from one mistake. They aren't that big of a deal. Chun-Li and V-Ken are way more dangerous for the fact that they have many normals and specials with high priority, quick recovery time, and insane exceed links.

As a very good Guile player, and the beater of ass in a few local tournys here, I can say that this Guile DOES blow. He looks the same... sort of, has the same moves... but that's it. Hart to explain. The pressure games are all gone from this version.

Oh well,
Spike
