I had a pair of those, not only were they very uncomfortable after around 15 minutes but they broke just after the warranty expired. They sounded okay but I expected a lot better for the money. Ended up going back to an old pair of Sony MDRs.

The comfort must've been a problem because they've updated the cups to some other material. I tried these on at the record store and they sounded fantastic. It was playing Tidal FLAC though one of those hifi streamers. I'm assuming the streamer was a big part of why they sounded so good, but they don't sound as lively at home on my DAP. Still good though. The Sony MDRs are great but they're relatively flat, and I wanted to try something that was made to sound "good" rather than accurate. I have AT M50xs and they're great, but same thing.

Like lets think about this objectively. Does it leak? Needs new seals. Does it evaporate? Seems unlikely given 1970’s turntables still function fine here in the US and we are waaaayyy hotter than the UK.
Wtf lead to this?

A couple hundred dollars on upkeep every ten years is nothing. You're not really comparing the same things.

Upgraded to 5.1.4 lately. My hobo Atmos setup:

• Pioneer VSX-LX305 M2 (600 € RRP: 1400)
• Teufel Ultima 20 Surround 5.1 Set (600 € RRP: 700)
• 2 pairs Teufel Reflekt (500 € together RRP: 1 pair 300)

1,7K well spent. Pretty dope setup for under 2K. Bought the 5.1 set 2 years ago. The rest this year. Add about 100 meters copper cable.

I have a good friend who is a professional audio engineer, his family owned a multimillion dollar studio and I’ve been there many times to demo records. It sounds pretty amazing but you know what he uses at home? A vintage Technics amp, a Rega turntable, a $500 preamp and refurbished vintage JBL speakers. All in it cost him about $3500. He says anything much more expensive than that is a waste of money when it comes to cost vs sound quality for home listening. Does a 50k stereo sound good? Yeah but does it sound 10x better than a nice $5k setup? No.

Unless money is literally no object and dicking around with hifi gets you off or you’re a professional and it’s a business expense it’s a waste of money past a certain point.

I‘ll take the word of a professional with nothing to prove over a rich fool or salesman any day.

Everything is a waste of money past a certain point. I bet his system sounds crap tbh
I've met loads of "professionals" who think they know everything and are full of shit

Kern has the best ears. Unbelievable pinna; perfectly shaped. Cochlea? Tremendous. They say he he the tightest tympanic membrane. No, really, they do.

Switched from a Logitech Z906 to the Raumfeld Stereo M as PC Speakers. Huge upgrade, finally I can listen to music on my desk. Hooked up via cinch and that's probably the only downside. Worth checking out if they are available in the US. They have everything you want and sound great.
I truly love my Stereo M speakers. <3

But man those ultra small Edifier M60 arrived today. They were 120 € new and fuck me they sound fucking great for the price.
Best bang for a buck kind of stuff. Sound much bigger than they are :buttrock:

My Goodwill speaker collection continues, they have some years on them and looked to be in good condition but $8.99 for the pair, I had to take the risk…
