(26) Lyra Valkyria
(27) Kelani Jordan
(28) Kairi Sane
(29) Brie Bella
(30) Tiffany Stratton

WINNER: Liv Morgan in 67:00.

(Most of the match was formulaic, but at least the roster is deep enough and they played up alliances going into the match well enough that there were plenty of subplots to keep things interesting on that level.)

(2) A.J. STYLES vs. GUNTHER – Styles Agrees to Retire If He Loses

The bell 37 minutes into the hour. After some traditional back and forth matwork, Gunther threw Styles violently to the floor and then threw him around ringside. Cole said there were 25,000 in Riyadh. Gunther battered Styles in the ring. At 6:00 Styles caught Gunther with a kick on a backdrop attempt. He landed Pele Kick a minute later. Both were down and slow to get up.

Gunther blocked a Styles Clash set-up. Styles tried again, but Gunther kicked out of it and the hit Gunther with a clothesline for a two count. Styles went for a Calf Crusher. Gunther escaped and chopped Styles hard in the chest.

Styles finally applied a Calf Crusher mid-ring at 12:00. Gunther maneuvered out and applied a sleeper. Styles sent Gunther through the ropes to break free. Gunther tried for a superplex, but Styles slipped out. They countered each other a couple times. Styles landed a powerbomb and scored a two count on a stack cover. Styles landed a springboard 450 splash onto Gunther. He followed with. Styles Clash for a near fall. The fans were on their feet.

Styles applied a sleeper. Gunther mule kicked Styles and then powerbombed Styles for a dramatic near fall. “Not this way!” said Cole. “That damn, dirty Gunther.” Gunther stomped away at Styles. The ref told Styles he can stop the match and he backed Gunther away. Gunther moved back in and chopped away at Styles hard. The ref angrily ordered Gunther back away. Fans chanted “Let’s Go A.J.!” Gunther went back on the attack including a hard lariat to drop Styles.

Styles surged with offense against Gunther in the corner. Styles brushed off his chest with his hands and then went for a Phenomenal Forearm. Gunther caught him and then put him in a sleeper. Styles began to fight back and fans cheered. Gunther then relocked his grip and Styles went down. Styles elbowed Gunther, but Gunther just shifted to a new leverage position. Styles faded and his arm went limp. The ref lifted and dropped it. The fans were stunned and silent after the bell. After ten seconds, they played Gunther’s music. They cut to fans reacting with shock in the crowd as Gunther laughed uproariously.

WINNER: Gunther in 25:00 to end Styles’s wrestling career.

(A very good Gunther-style match start to finish. The story beats of the match with Styles mounting comebacks but Gunther thwarting him built well throughout.)

-Styles stood and took off his gloves and almost placede them on the mat, but then put them back on. Fans cheered. He raised his arms up and fans cheered and chanted his name. He was emotional as he soaked up the moment before finally rolling out of the ring. He stopped and then got back in the ring and stood on the second rope and raised his arms for one last cheer. His music began playing.

(3) DREW MCINTYRE vs. SAMI ZAYN – WWE Title match

The bell rang 22 minutes into the hour. A couple minutes in, Samileaped over the top rope and flipped onto McIntyre. Both were down and slow to get up. Drew landed a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker back in the ring. Drew landed a neckbreaker a minute later. He kipped up and then stared down at Sami as he set up a Claymore. Sami blocked him with a big boot to the face and then a Blue Thunder Bomb. Drew then landed a White Noise off the top rope for a near fall.

Drew landed three Future Shock DDTs and then scored a near fall. Barrett noted that Sami’s shoulder’s barely raised and he seemed physically on empty. Drew clotheslined Sami in the corner twice. On the third, Sami went for a Helluva Kick. Drew ducked and landed a Claymore. Sami draped his foot on the bottom rope at two.

Drew cornered the ref and chewed him out. Sami recovered and connected with a Helluva Kick for a near fall at 13:00. Drew powerbombed Sami onto the announce desk. The ref called for medics to check on Sami. Fans chanted, “This is awesome!”

Back in the ring, Drew yelled that Sami doesn’t have what it takes. Sami surprised Drew with an exploder suplex. He then charged, but Drew landed a Claymore. Drew backed into the corner, looking intense and sinister and crazy-eyed. When Sami sat up, Drew gave him a Claymore for a three count.

WINNER: McIntyre in 16:00 to retain the WWE Title.

(That was an intense match, especially the closing minutes. What a downer for the crowd two matches in a row. A babyface has to win the men’s Rumble after this. Drew was great with his intensity and ruthlessness. I’m not sure if this ends the Sami World Title storyline for next year’s WrestleMania or is a chapter that shifts it onto a new path.)

(24) Rey Fenix
(25) Jey Uso
(26) Roman Reigns
(27) Jacob Fatu
(28) Penta
(29) Randy Orton
(30) Gunther

Cole said this could be one of the most historic nights in pro wrestling history if Gunther won the Rumble after retiring Styles. It was Orton, Evans, Cody, Fatu, Gunther, Reigns, and Jey. The screen noted Evans had been in the match over 40 minutes. Orton tossed out Evans. Gunther then knocked Penta off the top rope. Orton gave Gunther an RKO. Cody eyed Orton. Cody lifted Gunther and then Orton kicked Gunther in the gut twice. Cody then gave Orton a cutter that was intended for Gunther. Fatu superkicked Cody and tossed him over the top. Cody held on and pulled himself back, but Drew showed up at ringside and punched Cody, so he crashed to the floor. Barrett said that eliminated Cody facing Drew. Roman then tossed out Fatu as Fatu was staring at Drew. Jey tried to eliminate Reigns, but Reigns held on. Reigns speared Jey and the eliminated Jey.

It came down to Orton, Reigns, Logan, and Gunther. This is a solid final four. Gunther was holding his left knee and stretching it. Everyone sat up in a corner and eyed each other. Barrett said there is no favorite at this point. They began to fight. Logan charged at Reigns, but Reigns ducked and eliminated Logan. Orton gave Reigns an RKO. Gunther tossed Orton out. It came down to Gunther and Reigns.

Reigns backdropped Gunther onto the ring apron. Gunther came back into the ring and put Reigns in a sleeper. Reigns struggled to grab the top rope and try to pry himself loose. Reigns escaped and went for a Superman Punch. Gunther ducked and applied a sleeper again. Reigns broke free and speared Gunther and then eliminated him.

WINNER: Reigns in 56:00.

WWE Elimination Chamber PLE Results: 2-28-26

Results courtesy of ProWrestling.net (link to Powell's complete report).

1. Tiffany Stratton vs. Rhea Ripley vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Asuka vs. Kiana James vs. Raquel Rodriguez in an Elimination Chamber match for a shot at the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42. Dan Engler was the in-ring referee. Stratton and James started the match while Ripley, Bliss, Asuka, and Rodriguez were in pods.

James performed an early standing moonsault on Stratton and got a two count. Both wrestlers went to the area outside the ring, where Stratton performed a suplex. Stratton followed up with a handspring elbow attempt, but she crashed into Rodriguez’s pod glass when James moved.

Asuka was the third entrant around 4:35. James went right after her, but Asuka slammed her head on the pod glass repeatedly and then did the same to Stratton.

Alexa Bliss was the fourth entrant. Cole mentioned Bliss’s friendship with Charlotte Flair. Barrett recalled Charlotte saying that she was fine. He said not to fall for that crap because when a woman says she’s fine, she’s never actually fine. Kit Wilson did not come out to scold him. Anyway, James catapulted Stratton into the side of a pod.
Rhea Ripley was the fifth entrant at 10:10. Ripley went on an offensive tear and tossed Stratton at Asuka to put them both down. Bliss went for a tornado DDT, but Ripley stuffed it. Bliss went for Sister Abigail, but Ripley countered with a Riptide attempt that Bliss avoided.

Ripley, James, Stratton, and Asuka fought outside the ring. Bliss jumped off the top of a pod onto her four opponents, which drew a brief “this is awesome” chant. Back in the ring, Bliss set up for Sister Abigail on James, but Asuka sprayed mist in her face, and then James rolled up Bliss and pinned her.

Alexa Bliss was eliminated by Kiana James in 13:10.

The sixth and final entrant was Rodriguez. She smiled and then got the better of multiple opponents. Rodriguez scooped up James and ran into a pod, and they crashed through the glass on the other side. Rodriguez had James down inside the ring when she Tejana Bombed Asuka on top of James, and then pinned both wrestlers.

Asuka and Kiana James were eliminated by Raquel Rodriguez in 16:15.

Stratton avoided a Tejana Bomb, but Rodriguez hit her with a clunky splash in the corner. Rodriguez sat Stratton on the top turnbuckle and then climbed to the middle rope. Ripley performed a cannonball dive from the top of a pod onto Rodriguez. Stratton hit Rodriguez with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever and then pinned her.

Raquel Rodriguez was eliminated by Tiffany Stratton in 20:30.

The final two were Ripley and Stratton. Jade Cargill was shown getting fired up in her luxury box. Stratton executed an Alabama Slam on Ripley for a near fall. Stratton avoided a charging Ripley, who crashed through the ropes and into the post. Stratton, who had a bloody nose, performed a Swanton on Ripley for a two count. Stratton went for the PME, but Ripley stood up and shoved Stratton into the side of a pod. Ripley got Stratton back inside the ring, hit the Riptide, and then pinned her.

Rhea Ripley eliminated Tiffany Stratton to win the Elimination Chamber match in 24:00 to earn a shot at the WWE Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 42.

Ripley clutched her lower back afterward. Highlights were shown from the match, including Jade applauding after Ripley won. Pyro shot off on the stage as Ripley stood on the middle rope and looked at the WrestleMania sign while Jade motioned for her to bring it. Ripley pointed and waved…
Powell’s POV: A fun Chamber match. Everyone worked hard, and they nailed some innovative spots. Kiana going 16 minutes shows how high management is on her. This wasn’t a case of a newcomer getting limited minutes to hide any weaknesses. She was one of the first two entrants and was given plenty of offense. As much as I was open to the idea of Rodriguez winning and then finding her way into the Women’s World Championship match, Jade vs. Ripley screams WrestleMania showdown match. I believe Stratton’s nosebleed occurred because her face appeared to hit the pod when Ripley shoved her off the ropes.

2. Becky Lynch vs. AJ Lee for the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. The referee was Jessika Carr. Mark Nash delivered in-ring introductions for the title match. Cole noted before the match that Lynch and Carr have had recent issues. Cole said Lynch claimed that the Mayor of Chicago named it Becky Lynch Day. The fans were behind Lee.

There was a clunky clothesline spot, but Lee came back with a nice tornado DDT from the middle rope. Lee followed up with a shining wizard for a near fall. Moments later, Lee went for the Black Widow, but Lynch stuffed it and slammed her to the mat before getting a two count. Lynch got upset and slammed Lee’s head on the mat a few times.

Lynch removed a turnbuckle pad while the referee was checking on Lee. Lynch cut off Lee on the turnbuckle with the missing pad. Lee superplexed Lee and put her in an armbar that Lee escaped. The referee spotted the turnbuckle pad and retrieved it from ringside. As she was trying to reattach it, Lynch shoved Lee into the referee, who collided with the exposed turnbuckle. Lynch threw a kick that Lee avoided, but it took out the referee. REF BUMP!!!

Lee applied the Black Widow. Lynch tapped out, but the referee was still down. Lynch took Lee to the floor. Lynch pulled a chair out from underneath the ring. Lee regrouped and ran Lynch’s head into the barricade before getting her back inside the ring. Lynch performed a DDT on the chair and then cleared it from the ring before reviving the referee. Lynch hit her Manhandle Slam finisher and covered Lee, who kicked out at the last moment. Lynch was stunned. Fans chanted for Lee.

Lynch, who wrestled the match wearing a jacket, tried to run Lee into the exposed turnbuckle, but the referee blocked her path. Lee rolled up Lynch for a two count. Lynched charged Lee, who moved, and Lynch ran into the exposed turnbuckle. Lee applied the Black Widow, and then Lynch tapped out…

AJ Lee defeated Becky Lynch in 15:40 to win the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.

Powell’s POV: It wasn’t always pretty, but the match exceeded my expectations given Lee’s long layoff. Lynch’s character should be extra manic on Monday or whenever she makes her next appearance on Raw, and I’m sure she will blame the referee. I suspect they will run it back at WrestleMania in some type of gimmick match.

WWE Elimination Chamber PLE Results: 2-28-26

3. Finn Balor for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Mark Nash delivered in-ring introductions for the title match. Balor was booed during the introductions, while the fans cheered loudly for Punk, who wore Chicago Blackhawks trucks along with matching kick pads. Punk kissed the title belt before handing it to the referee.

Balor targeted Punk’s abdomen at various points during the first nine minutes of the match. Punk hit a suicide dive on Balor. Punk tossed Balor back inside the ring and then went up top. Balor got to his feet, and Punk put him down with a flying clothesline and covered him for a two count. The broadcast team played up Roman Reigns challenging the winner of the match at WrestleMania 42.

Balor stuffed or avoided a couple of Punk’s GTS attempts. Both men fought on the ropes. Balor got the better of it by punching Punk, who fell to the mat. Balor went for a Coup de Grace, but Punk avoided it. Punk, who had a bloody mouth, came back and hit a top rope elbow drop. Moments later, Punk applied the Anaconda Vice. Balor escaped the hold and rolled Punk into a pin for a near fall. Balor threw elbows at the head of a seated Punk while the fans booed.

Balor went up top and hit the Coup de Grace and covered Punk for a near fall. Balor showed frustration over not getting the pin as he looked toward the entrance set. Cole wondered if Balor was thinking twice about telling Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh that he wanted to go it alone. Punk hit Balor with a GTS, but Balor tumbled through the ropes to the floor. Punk followed and was put down by a sling blade clothesline. Balor followed up with a shotgun dropkick that sent Punk through the barricade and into the timekeeper’s area.

Balor rolled Punk back inside the ring and followed. Punk hoisted up Balor for his finisher, but Balor slipped away and hit another sling blade clothesline. Balor put Punk down with a shotgun dropkick and went for another Coup de Grace, but Punk was ready and put him in a Sharpshooter. Balor reached the ropes to break the hold. A “this is awesome” chant followed. Punk held Balor’s right arm and threw kicks at him. Punk pulled Balor to his feet and then hoisted him up before hitting the GTS and pinning him…

CM Punk defeated Finn Balor in 20:25 to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.

After the match, Punk celebrated the win. He looked at the hard camera and held up his index finger. Balor shoved Punk, and then they stared at one another until Balor offered a handshake. Punk eventually shook Balor’s hands, and they spoke to one another for a few seconds before Balor exited the ring. Balor looked back at Punk, who nodded at him.

AJ Lee ran out with her Women’s Intercontinental Championship belt. My God, she hit Punk with the belt!!! No, not really. Rather, she jumped into his arms for a moment. AJ checked out the blood on Punk’s face, and then they held up their title belts while Cole gushed about calling the Punk vs. Roman Reigns match at WrestleMania.

Powell’s POV: A good match. There wasn’t much suspense given that Punk vs. Roman Reigns was all but set in stone, but the wrestlers worked hard, and the Chicago crowd rallied behind their guy.

4. Randy Orton vs. LA Knight vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Trick Williams vs. Logan Paul (w/Paul Heyman, Austin Theory) in an Elimination Chamber match for a shot at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42. Cody and Evans started the match while Orton, Knight, Trick, and Logan were inside their pods. Cody got the better of Evans to start while the fans briefly sang Cody’s name. Evans took Cody down with a hurcanrana, then used his legs to bounce off the ropes before performing another. A “f— you, Logan” chant broke out while Cody regained offensive control. Evans rallied with a suplex and kipped up. Cody got up and hit him with a forearm.

The third entrant was Trick Williams at 4:05. Trick put Cody down outside the ring and then glared at Evans before joining him inside the ring. Evans caught Trick with a kick and went for the OG Cutter, but Trick blocked it. Trick sent Evans into Cody and then dropped Evans with a right hand. Cody returned and went after both men. Trick got the better of both men while the broadcast team compared him to Booker T.

Powell’s POV: It was a nice touch to have Trick, Je’Von, and Raheem in the Chamber together on the last day of Black History Month. Hey, wait a minute…

The fourth entrant was Logan Paul. The other three entrants mauled him. Logan eventually returned with a Buckshot Lariat on Cody.

The fifth entrant was LA Knight. Knight worked over Logan with punches and kicks while the fans yelled, “Yeah.” Evans, Knight, and Logan fought on top of one of the pods. Evans and Knight tossed Logan onto Cody and Trick in the ring. Knight dropped Evans with a BFG on top of the pod.

The sixth and final entrant was Randy Orton. Evans dove off the top of the pod onto Trick. Logan quickly hit Evans with the Paulverizer and then pinned him.

Je’Von Evans was eliminated by Logan Paul at 16:00.

Powell’s POV: It looked like Evans was spiked on the head when he took Paul’s finisher. He was holding his head, and a referee helped him down the steps. Hopefully, he was just selling.

Knight had a Knight moment. He was on the top rope and played to the crowd, which said his name on cue. Knight went to jump from the top rope, but he slipped. He landed on his feet, but he was rolled up and pinned by Logan shortly thereafter.

LA Knight was eliminated by Logan Paul at 18:35.

Cody put Trick down with CrossRhodes. Logan, who had a big scrape on his back, tried to run Cody into the corner, but the referee was in the way. Logan waited for the referee to get out of the way and then ran Cody through the ropes and into the ring post. Logan covered Trick and pinned him.

Trick Williams was eliminated by Logan Paul in 20:25.

The masked mystery man ran out and climbed the side of the Chamber structure until security pulled him down. Security dragged him up the entrance aisle. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce came out and removed the masked man’s hood. Pearce asked who the man was before security hauled him away.

Two referees helped Trick out of the way, and then another mystery masked man entered the ring and put Logan down with a Stomp before Cody pinned him.

Logan Paul was eliminated by Cody Rhodes in roughly 23:00.

The masked man pulled off his hood and revealed himself to be Seth Rollins. Heyman responded with a look of shock. Cody looked up at Rollins while kneeling in the ring. Rollins looked at Cody and then made his exit through the crowd.

The match came down to Cody and Orton. As they used the ropes to pull themselves up, WWE Champion Drew McIntyre entered the Chamber structure and hit Cody with his title belt. Cody fought back. McIntyre hit him with a Glasgow Kiss. Orton pulled McIntyre away from Cody and put him down with an RKO. Cody followed up by hitting McIntyre with CrossRhodes. Orton immediately dropped Cody with an RKO and then pinned him.

Randy Orton eliminated Cody Rhodes in 25:20 to win the Elimination Chamber match to earn a shot at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42.

Cole said the Apex Predator had his killer instinct back. “He didn’t hesitate, he struck when he needed to,” Cole said. Pyro shot off while Orton celebrated his win. Cole said championship win number 15 was in Orton’s sights at WrestleMania. Cody was shown seated on the steps looking dejected while Orton watched. They cut to the post show while the credits were shown.

Paramount and Netflix and Disney like is there a refund policy?

Edit. To be more honest, the product is complete shit right now, and it sounds like Paul is finally getting the blame that he deserves. Saudi is going to buy it before the end of 27, and they want Calloway running things, which he knows.

Meanwhile it's just garbage. It's no extra cost to me since DTV has a deal but I still barely remember to watch.

Oh and Paramount is for their UFC content so far, which has been awful.

I won't lie, seeing Dannhausen curse Dom was the peak of Raw last night for me.

Sometimes, this pro wrestling business takes itself too seriously. We need more of these comedy bits to change it up and laugh a bit. Pro wrestling is a gay work anyway so it's good to have some fun. This dude is going to get over in the 'E, I guarantee you.

Also, I had no issues with Dannhausen's debut at EC. None. It was exactly what you would expect out of a Dannhausen debut and I loved it.

WWE, in my opinion, miscalculated because the marks aren't paying 400 bucks for bad seats during a PLE with all too predictable results. They'll just pay 30 and watch it on ESPN instead and I don't blame them. The only people at that event were rich olds that work themselves into a shoot believing it's a borderline combat sport with quirky personalities.

Sources: trust me, bro

Danhausen and MJF are the best two things in modern wrestling.

Kind of not cool with Danhausen going WWE, but I'm happy for him since he's an excellent character and deserves to be more noticed--plus, wrestling needs more goofballs like him and less Logan Paul's.

Danhausen was a better fit for AEW I think, but they never used him. Their loss. Cursing Dom and Dom losing the title after having it so long was :keke:

Just another example of Tony Khan effing up and letting a star walk.

At this point, I think Jean-Paul just likes poaching AEW talent.

Mick Foley has left WWE over their Trump worship.

It's about damn time, but honestly, why now? Because of the Rob Reiner tweet? It's not like WWE being a part of the Trump administration's propaganda arm is a new thing.

And Mick remains friends with Vince McMahon who is a literal sex trafficking serial rapist and enabler of woman beaters and child molesters. Mick says he didn't know about any of that shit but most of it (the ring boy scandal, Snuka beating his mistress to death, Stone Cold beating the shit out of his wife at the peak of his run, Vince raping Rita Chatterton, Vince's multiple tanning salon sexual abuse cases, the Ashley Massaro rape coverup, etc) made the national news.

Little fuckin' late to grow some morals. And, of course, only after he's retired and sitting on a pile of millions of dollars.
fami's final post is like a greatest hits compilation

AEW Revolution PPV Results: 3-15-26

Results courtesy of PWTorch.com (complete link to Keller's report).

(1) FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler w/Stokely Hathaway) vs. THE YOUNG BUCKS (Matt & Nick Jackson) – AEW World Tag Team Title match

The Bucks were joined by six kids who are part of the Jackson family. Schiavone called it a wonderful moment. FTR wheeled Stokely to the ring. They fought at ringside early where Dax ended up cut on the forehead from a ringpost.

FTR delivered a stuff piledriver on Matt at ringside. Nick rolled into the ring seconds later, bleeding from the forehead. Dax and Cash punched away at Nick in the ring and then set up another stuff piledriver. Nick blocked it and superkicked Cash and then Dax. He dropped onto Dax and scored a near fall. Matt remained down at ringside for an extended period. When he stood, Cash drove him into the ringside barricade.

Matt eventually hot-tagged in. He rallied. He got a pep talk from a family member at ringside. Dax yeld onto Matt’s boot and yanked him onto the ring apron. Matt leaped off the top rope a minute later with crossbody press onto Dax for a near fall. Dax continued bleeding heavily. Matt applied a sharpshooter on Dax. Nick stopped Cash from interfering and applied his own sharpshooter. FTR escaped.

Wild action ensued. Dax sitout powerbombed Matt and scored a near fall. Fans chanted, “AEW! AEW!” Cash swung a tag title belt at Matt. Matt ducked. Schiavone said he didn’t fear getting DQ’d. FTR suplexed The Bucks off the ring apron to ringside.

They all reentered the ring where the Bucks took control with a barrage of superkicks. There was blood splattered and pooled several places at ringside. Stokely held Nick’s leg on a springboard attempt, slowing him down. When Nick launched, FTR caught him with a Shatter Machine for a two count. Stokely showed he didn’t need the wheelchair. Nigel was astonished. Dax thought he won a minute later, but Nick’s boot was draped on the bottom rope. The ref informed him. FTR took out their frustrations on Nick with a series of superkicks. Nick kicked out at one and fired up, which got a big rise from the crowd. FTR looked on wide-eyed.

FTR battled back and set up Shatter Machine. The Bucks fought through and gave Dax superkicks and a Shatter Machine of their own. They delivered BTE Drivers for a near fall. Fans chanted “AEW!” Cash dove through the ropes, but Nick ducked. Nick leaped through the ropes on the other side of the ring and tackled Stokely off his wheelchair. Then he delivered their springboard driver for a believable near fall.

Matt psyched up Nick and they signaled for another move. Cash intervened. FTR gave Matta. stuff piledriver and then gave Matt a top rope Shatter Machine for the win.

WINNERS: FTR to retain the AEW Tag Team Titles.

-The lights went out as FTR were celebrating and then the big screen said “Even” which then extended into “Revenge.” Adam Copeland’s music played and he came out to a big pop. Christian Cage’s music played next and he came out behind FTR and Stokely. He sprayed Cash in the face and gave a Killswitch to Dax. Copeland then speared Cash. Stokely begged off. He shook hands with Christian, but Christian gave him a Killswitch. Copeland then tossed Stokely out of the ring.

Copeland and Christian held the tag belts. Copeland told FTR, “This is how we hurt you.” The Bucks stood and had a brief tense moment with Copeland and Christian, who then set the belts down and left to Copeland’s music. (Was that a coin flip to decide whose music played?)

(Wild, well-executed tag match start to finish. The family at ringside weren’t a big factor except for a pep talk. Although there was some interference from Stokely, the finish itself was pretty clean and decisive for FTR. Given their pivot to Copeland and Christian, it made sense.)

(2) TONI STORM vs. MARINA SHAFIR – Everyone Banned from Ringside

Shafir made her entrance first after getting psyched up with Wheeler Yuta and Garcia backstage. The bell rang 41 minutes into the hour with Shafir attacking Storm right away. Shafir landed some strikes, then marched around the ring and gloated to the crowd.

She threw some roundkicks to Storm’s chest as she kneeled. Nigel said she should have put her arms up to protect herself. Excalibur said perhaps it was a strategy to bait her into those kicks with a counter move plan that hasn’t played out yet. Storm caught Shafir with a sleeper. Shafir escaped and stopped Storm’s comeback with a pump kick to Storm’s head.

Shafir avoided a hip attack and went for a suplex off the ring apron. Storm held onto the ropes, so Shafir kicked her in the back. She then landed a back suplex to the floor. Storm avoided a kick, so Shafir sold a foot injury. Storm bit Shafir’s foot.

They battled in the ring. Storm landed three German suplexes mid-ring, then landed two hip attacks. Shafir yelled for her to bring on a third. She did. She then hit a Storm Zero for a believable near fall. Storm bit Shafir’s left boob. “That’s the first time I’ve ever seen that in my life,” Schiavone said. Storm then won with a small package. Nigel called it “a cinematic victory.” (Head over to the Oscars, Toni!)

WINNER: Storm in 10:00.

(They pulled this off pretty well, with Shafir staying within her lane of specialty and dominating as Storm sold before making a comeback including a notable strategy with her teeth. The contrast of the two characters worked well here and there was a very good chance it might not have.)

-Ronda Rousey then entered the ring. She called out Storm. Storm had made her way to the stage, but sat up and smiled and headed to the ring. Storm got in Rousey’s face. “A tantalizing prospect,” said Nigel. Shafir sucker punched Storm. Shafir and her longtime friend and training partner Rousey gloated as they left. Mina Shirakawa and Luther checked on Storm on the floor.

(3) JON MOXLEY vs. KONOSUKE TAKESHITA – AEW Continental Title match with no time limit

Moxley made his entrance through a back hall and crossed paths with Shafir and Rousey who wished him luck. As Takeshita came out, they went to Renee at ringside who noted that no one is allowed at ringside and there must be a definitive winner. The bell rang 58 minutes into the hour.

The early minutes were strong, with back and forth intense strikes and mostly matwork. The downside of a “no time limit” stip is that it sends a pretty strong signal there won’t be a finish before they get past that usual 20 minute time limit. At 11:00, they stood and exchanged strikes. Mox ducked a swing and applied a sleeper. Takeshita escaped, but sold a knee injury.

They battled on the ring apron next. Mox landed a stomp, sending Takeshita crashing to the floor. Mox walked around the ring raising his middle fingers in the air. Takeshita bled from the forehead. They went back to exchanging rapid-fire strikes mid-ring. Mox landed a leaping piledriver for a near fall at 15:00. Mox applied a crossface mid-ring and shifted into a chinlock. Takeshita back elbowed to escape.

Mox and Takeshita went forehead-to-forehead. They collided mid-ring with clotheslines. Takeshita then took Mox down with a hard lariat. Mox stood only to absorb a running knee in the corner. Takeshita landed an exploder suplex off the top rope and then a running high knee for a near fall. Mox fought back with a sudden Paradigm Shift.

They took turns suplexing each other, one after another. Mox took Takeshita down with a lariat. Takeshita kicked out at one. Takeshita landed a Raging Fire a minute later at 20:00 for a super close near fall. Excalibur said Takeshita was stunned by the kickout. Fans chanted “Fight Forever.”

Takeshita charged, but his knee gave out. Mox kicked his knee and then landed a Death Rider for a near fall. Fans popped for the kickout.

Mox applied a sleeper. Takeshita gave Mox a middle finger, but Mox held the grip. Takeshita passed out and the ref called for the bell. Schiavone said it would have been “way beyond a draw” under normal rules. (Not “way beyond.”) Exacalibur emphasized that Takeshita didn’t tapout, as if that made a difference. Pac was among those applauding afterward.

WINNER. Moxley in 23:00 to retain the TNT Title.

-Takeshita passed on Mox’s offer of a gesture of sportsmanship afterward. As he began to leave the ring, he paused and returned and agreed to shake Moxley’s hand afte rall. Mox celebrated to his music.

(\Expectations were high and it depends on your expectations whether this exceeded them. It was a really good, intense, well-executed match that matched the styles of these two with a bit of a slower pace early but it really peaked well.)

(4) BABES OF WRATH (Harley Cameron & Willow Nightingale) vs. MEGAN BAYNE & RENA KROSS – AEW Women’s Tag Team Title match

Bayne and Kross attacked Harley and Willow before the bell and were rewarded with the ref calling for the bell. The match began 34 minutes into hour two. Willow landed a Pounce several minutes in. Then she landed a Death Valley Driver on Kross.

As Kross suplexed Harley, Bayne aimed to kick Harley, but the suplex was ahead of the kick. Kross kicked Willow and went for a Jackhammer. Willow countered with a backslide. Bayne clotheslined Willow. Bayne and Kross landed a double slam and in a sudden finish, Kross pinned Willow. Excalibur said Willow’s injury left her vulnerable.

WINNERS: Bayne & Kross in 6:00 to capture the AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles.

(The outcome was foreshadowed with all the talk of Willow’s shoulder injury and paying a price for wrestling twice on one event. The match was short, but that’s a good choice. I think a submission might’ve made more sense here for a move that put torque on a shoulder.)

(5) SWERVE STRICKLAND (w/Prince Nana) vs. BRODY KING

Danielson took over for Nigel for the second half of the PPV at this point. The fans were worked up before the bell chanting “F— Ice!” and cheering in general. Brody went on the attack early. Brody barked. Swerve took out Brody down. The announcers laughed and conceded it was pretty awesome. Swerve stomped on Brody’s chest and then exposed a turnbuckle. He then drove Brody head-first into the exposed turnbuckle. Brody made a comeback at ringside and slammed Swerve onto the ringside barricade. An audible “F— Ice!” chant broke out briefly here.

As Brody put Swerve on the top turnbuckle, another chant that seemed to be “F— Ice!” broke out. Brody wrapped Swerve around the ringpost. Swerve tapped, but Excalibur pointed out the hold wasn’t legal. Brody leaped off the ring apron and drove Swerve’s back onto the ringside steps. Brody landed a turning sidewalk slam at ringside. Fans chanted, “Brody! Brody!” Swerve writhed in pain.

They stood on the ring apron and exchanged chops to the chest. Swerve landed a powerbomb on the ring apron. Both were down and slow to get up.

They continued to fight back and forth, including the exposed turnbuckle coming into play. Eventually, Swerve landed a Vertebreaker on the exposed concrete floor. Brody’s head bounced off the floor. Brody rolled into the ring at the count of nine. Swerve landed a top rope Swerve Stomp for just a one count. (Is that the third time there’s been a one-count kickout after a big move deep into a match tonight?) Brody powered up and went after Swerve, but Swerve ducked and landed a House Call for the win.

WINNER: Swerve in 15:00.

(A clean win for Swerve, although the idea that anything goes at ringside in a regular match is weird when they often do ref distractions just to sneak in an eye poke at times in other situations to avoid getting DQ’d. This was a good, intense match, following the theme of the night.)

NOTE: With four matches left, there’s no good reason for this show to even approach four hours total of PPV time given what’s left – a Women’s Title match, a Trios Title match, and Tornado match that felt like a late throw-in, and the MJF-Hangman main event. I’m curious if there’s a match that goes needlessly long or something else added. If the Women’s Title match goes 18, the Trios match goes 15, and the Tornado match goes 14, they should be rolling with the main event right around the start of the fourth hour, and that feels about right pacing-wise. We’ll see. To be clear, the show is not dragging by any means, but this looks like a chance to win over East Coast fans with a reasonable time that the main event takes place without ruining their Monday with a lack of sleep.)

(6) THEKLA vs. KRIS STATLANDER – Two-out-of-three-falls match for the AEW Women’s Title

The bell rang 6 minutes into the hour. Thekla got a leverage pin with her hand on the bottom rope at 5:00 to win the first fall. (This is one of those stupid early falls in a Best of Three falls match since there’s no way if it was one fall, it would have ended that soon, but there was nothing about it being a Best of Three fall that made that pinfall more likely.)

Thekla did her crab crawl thing at 9:00, but Statlander recovered and blocked a spear and took over. That’s a bad look for Thekla. Stat’s comeback got no heat. The crowd did start to show some fatigue after being hot for Swerve-Brody.

They stood mid-ring and exchanged strikes at 13:00. Thekla countered a Statlander tornado style move into a body wrap of sorts. Stat leveraged Thekla into a Staturday Night Fever to even the score 1-1. That’s another finish that just didn’t feel like it would have been the end of a regular match, but was anti-climactic and sudden merely because they had another fall to end with something more conventional. That’s less of a big deal, than the quick first falls, but it’s still less than idea.

There was a ref bump very early in the third fall. Thekla kicked the ref and then took off his belt and strutted around ringside and then tried to use it as a weapon. Statlander blocked the swing and took the belt and whipped Thekla with it over and over. Statlander landed another Staturday Night Fever. The fans counted the cover, but the ref was still down. Skye Blue and Julia Hart ran out and went after Statlander. Stat fended them off with the ref’s belt. The ref got in the ring and yanked the belt away from Stat. He was angry with Stat, assuming she took it from him. Thekla speared Stat and landed two stomps for the win.

WINNER: Thekla in 18:00.

(Okay, that went the length I thought it should. That’s good. Stat lost only after interference from Hart and Blue, so not a clean win, so it was meant to protect Stat. Danielson called it an “unfair” advantage for Thekla. The match itself was fine, but didn’t at all need the three falls stip.)

Continued from last night since I went to sleep 😴😴😴

(7) KYLE FLETCHER & MARK DAVIS & KAZUCHIKA OKADA vs. JET SPEED (“Speedball” Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight) & MISTICO – AEW Trios Title match

Lots of action early, as you’d fully expect with these six. Schiavone was mystified that Knight and Bailey were wearing masks during the match, not just for ring introductions. Excalibur said if you’re not accustomed to it, it can affect your breaking and vision. Davis yanked the mask off of Knight. “That might actually benefit Kevin Knight,” said Danielson. That’s what I was thinking. They also tore off Speedballs mask at ringside.

Fletcher rubbed a mask on his crotch and threw it into the crowd. (In some circles, that can fetch a lot of money.) Bailey, Knight, and Mistico landed a running dive through the ropes onto the heels at ringside. Then they played to the crowd. Back in the ring, Mistico and Okada faced off. Mistico got the better of Okada.

Speedball and Knight battled Okada and Fletcher next. Knight and Okada face off mid-ring. Okada smiled. He gave him a middle finger. Knight bit it. Okada avoided a Knight dropkick and then went for his .Knight stopped short. Okada hit a charging Knight with his dropkick. Fletcher kicked Speedball as he charged into the ring. Mistico leaped off the top rope onto Fletcher and Okada. Davis dropkicked Mistco out of the ring.

Fletcher set up a brainbuster on Knight, but Mistico intervened with a tornado DDT. Bailey landed a shooting star press on Fletcher a minute later for a two count. He lifted FLetcher for a move, but Davis entered the ring. Davis entered with a title belt. Speedball bailed out to ringside. Speedball then landed a shooting star knee onto Fletcher. Knight stood guard but Davis shoved Knight into Speedball, breaking up the pin.

Fletcher officially tagged in Davis who landed a piledriver on Knight. Then he gave Bailey a leaping piledriver. Mistico broke up the cover. Speedball caught Davis with a spin hook kick. Fletcher broke up the cover. Speedball threw Fletcher to the floor and then leaped onto him at ringside. Knight landed on Davis and scored a near fall, broken up by Okada. Excalibur noted the “frenetic pace.” Mistico landed a running twisting dive onto Okada at ringside.

Back in the ring, Fletcher set up a superplex on Knight. Mistico broke it up. Speedball knocked Davis down. Knight then leaped off the top rope over Mistico and Fletcher with a UFO Splash and scored a three count.

WINNERS: Jet Speed & Mistico in 17:00 to capture the AEW Trios Titles.

(8) BANDIDO vs. ANDRANDE

(Note: I was thinking this event might end well before the four hour mark, but I forgot about this match. So now we’re definitely headed to at least very close to four hours of PPV time (plus the pre-show), and realistically pushing past that. If this goes around 18, the Tornado Tag goes around 12, and the main event around 28, it shouldn’t need to push much past four hours, which would be nice for East Coast fans needing to get up for work in the morning.)

The bell rang 57 minutes into the third hour. Don Callis joined in on commentary. Excalibur complimented Andrade keeping his agility despite putting on so much muscle lately.

After Bandido yanked off his pants, Andrade landed a vicious powerbomb. Bandido recovered on the floor. Andrade took off his pants and revealed small red trunks underneath. Andrade posed for a selfie with one woman who was acting like she was going to faint. Danielson said if Andrade wants to win the match, he should keep at least one eye on Bandido.

Andrade crawled into the ring and scored a two count at 8:00. Bandido gave Andrade a released German suplex and his head hit the lower turnbuckle pad hard. Bandido landed a tornado twisting dive off the top rope onto Andrade at 11:00. He then landed a running flip dive onto Andrade at ringside. Bandido went for a top rope frog splash, but Andrade lifted his knees.

Back in the ring, Bandido landed a shooting star press for a near fall. Andrade countered a move by Bandido off the ring apron by sweeping his legs. Andrade went back to the woman in the crowd and took a selfie and gave her his number. Callis said. “It’s not a petting zoo.” Andrade nearly slipped on a top rope moonsault, but landed on his feet and then hit a regular moonsault for a two count. Fans chanted, “This is awesome!” at 18:00. From the crowd fatigue standpoint, it’ll work in the favor of this show that it’s three hours earlier West Coast time than East Coast time.

Bandido countered mid-air and crashed to the mat onto Andrade for a near fall. The announcers said it was terrifying. Bandido applied a stretch muffler. Bandido signaled for the 21 Plex, but Andrade hit a sudden spinning back elbow. Bandido landed a rolling heel kick as Andrade was dropping down. The announcers marveled at the move and said they never aaw it before and aren’t sure how you’d avoid it. Bandido landed a 21 Plex for a near fall. He then hoisted Andrade up onto his shoulders and dropped him onto his kneelift to the jaw.

Bandido charged and went for a 21 Plex. Andraded flipped over onto his feet and then landed a back elbow. He followed with a double-arm leaping spinning neckbreaker for the win.

WINNER: Andrade in 21:00.

(Certainly some of the best athleticism of the entire night. As good as it was, it probably was a few minutes too long for this stage of the night.)

(9) ORANGE CASSIDY & DARBY ALLIN & RODERICK STRONG vs. THE DOGS (Gabe Kidd & Clark Connors & David Finley) – Tornado Tag match

During Cassidy’s entrance, the video screen showed a graphic with a reward for finding the (formerly) missing Strong of a $15 gift card. The bell rang 24 minutes into the hour. More crazy action early with more speed than any prior match. Clark speared Darby through the ropes to the floor like a bullet train at 2:00 and it seemed legitimately more dangerous than climbing Mt. Everest. The crowd gasped. Strong and Cassidy broke up a cover in the ring.

Excalibur announced Storm vs. Shafir in a No Holds Barred match on Dynamite this Wednesday. The heels wrapped a chain around Darby’s throat and had him trapped in the corner for a series of splashes. The three heels gloated.

The Dogs turned their attention to Cassidy. Cassidy stood and put his hands in his pockets. Roddy entered before that could cost Cassidy. He hit Connors with a nice high dropkick. He took Gabe down with a suplex and let out a yell. He threw Cassidy, hands still in pockets, into Connors and Gabe in separate corners at 6:00. As Strong and Cassidy cleared the ring of The Dogs, fans chanted, “Please help Darby!” Cassidy cut the tag rope rope to free the chain. Darby immediately leaped off the top rope with a Coffin Drop onto everyone at ringside.

Strong put Connors in a Boston Crab. Darby put Gabe in a sharpshooter. Cassidy put Finley in a sleeper. While in the sleeper, Finlay broke up the submission holds. All six were down and slow to get up. Then they all stood at once and brawled. Gabe shoved Darby hard off the ring apron onto the mat at ringside. Connors blocked an Orange Punch and landed a spear.

Gabe, meanwhile, went after Darby with a skateboard. He charged, but Darby blocked it. Darby head-buttted Gabe off the stage and then leaped and hit him with the skateboard. Connors and Finlay hit a high-low style spear combo. Connors and Finlay went after Strong. Darby returned to the ring. Gabe’s hand was zip tied by the stage and he was yelling. Cassidy landed an Orange Punch. Strong landed End of Heartache. Cassidy made the cover and scored a three count on Connors.

As Darby celebrated his way up the ramp, Gabe spit at him and yelled as he was still stuck tied to the stage.

WINNERS: Darby & Strong & Cassidy in 12:00.

(10) MJF vs. “HANGMAN” ADAM PAGE – Texas Death match for the AEW World Title

After Hangman came out, an intro video aired with MJF taking a dig at Los Angeles and then pissing on a Hangman grave marker. He spoke in a drawl. He then made his entrance dressed in a sombrero and he wore a cowboy hat. Hangman looked dead serious throughout. The bell rang 47 minutes into the hour. Excalibur said as odious an individual as MJF is, he’s a student of the business. Danielson backed that up. Schiavone said he can be that but also a terrible human being. Schiavone talked about MJF’s interview with TMZ predicting he’ll go down as the greatest of all-time when he’s done.

They brawled into the crowd. (It showed discipline that AEW didn’t have any other brawls in the crowd so that this felt novel.) MJF took over back in the ring and mockely ran the ropes and then shoved his crotch in Hangman’s face. Fans booed. Hangman stood as MJF saluted the crowd. Hangman swung a trash can lid at MJF. MJF fled. Hangman pursued him. MJF kept running even after Hangman stopped, so Hangman reversed course and whacked MJF with the lid. (I play a similar version of this with my dog around the dining room table and my dog has never been fooled by my change in direction like MJF just was.)

Hangman pulled a staple gun out from under the ring. He also had a birthday card and he stapled it to MJF’s hand. MJF dropped down in pain. Hangman delivered another staple. Fans chanted, “You sick f—!” Hangman stapled the card to MJF’s chest and it stuck. “It’s wonderful!” said Schiavone. Hangman dropped to ringside and looked for something. He found a window covered in a black tarp.

MJF took the window from him and smashed it in the ring. The glass shattered. MJF threw the window frame to the floor and then he yelled, “I don’t do that indy bullshit.” Hangman bodyslammed MJF onto the glass. “That’s one of the highlights of the year right there,” said Schiavone. MJF had no cuts, but some of the candy glass stuck to him. Hangman dragged MJF chest down on the glass. They cut to a woman in the crowd who seemed very concerned. (Kids at home, don’t do this on real glass when imitating your favorite wrestler.)

MJF was bleeding heavily from his forehead. Hangman punched away at him and then tossed him onto the glass again. At 10:00, Hangman wrapped MJF’s mouth with barbed wire and then pulled backward. Excalibur said MJF might have a permanent smile on his face from that.

MJF took over bloodied Hangman with jabs to the forehead . He slammed Hangman on the glass mid-ring. MJF dragged Hangman in a circle on the glass. MJF brought a broom into the ring and swept out the glass. The announcers pointed out that this allowed Hangman to rest. MJF then tried to hit Hangman with the broom, but Hangman blocked it and broke it over his knee. MJF stabbed Hangman in the forehead with the jagged butt of the handle. MJF sat on a chair mid-ring and leaned back casually. Then he stood and hit Hangman across the back with the chair.

MJF jabbed a syringe from inside Hangman’s mouth through the cheek and then shot somethign out of it. Fans gagged and cringed collectively. The syringe was still stuck in Hangman’s mouth. MJF went for a chairshot to the head. Hangman blocked it and took over.

Hangman took over, but MJF landed a wheelbarrow slam onto the barbed wire chair mid-ring. MJF set up a Heat Seeker. Hangman blocked it and landed a Dead Eye onto the barbed wire chair mid-ring. Hangman clutched his knee afterward. MJF stood at the count of five at 22:00. Hangman sent MJF into a barbed wire wrapped chair in the corner with a fallaway slam.

Hangman flipped off the top rope toward MJF at ringside, but MJF moved. Hangman rolled into the ring. MJF set up a Heat Seeker onto a chair. Hangman escaped and then leaped off the ring apron with a Dead Eye through a table below. MJF barely beat the ref’s ten count. Hangman setup another Heat Seeker off the ring apron, but MJF blocked it and bit Hangman. He then delivered a leaping tombstone off the ring apron through a table. Both were down and slow to get up. Hangman was out underneath the table and MJF was curled up clutching his knee. Schiavone said Texas Death matches date back to the 1950s and they’ve certainly ramped up since those days. Danielson said after this, he’d like to see a moratorium on these matches for a while.

Hangman and MJF reset mid-ring with wild swings at each other. MJF spat at Hangman’s face. Hangman caught MJF mid-air and powerbombed him at 27:00. Hangman went for a Buckshot, but MJF ducked and poked his eyes. They went forehead-to-forehead. Then they both swung and knocked each other out. Danielson said there is no time limit so they could be there all night. (More urgently, will either stand, though.) They both rolled to the floor and stood. Danielson said they were both smart letting gravity help them to their feet.

Hangman and MJF each grabved light tubes. A brief “ECW” chant started. MJF backed up the ramp to the stage. Hangman pursued him. They swung the tubes at each other and each ducked. Hangman bashed MJF across his back with it, shattering it. Hangman took MJF’s out of his hands. This real glass actually cut MJF in dozens of places at the point of impact. Hangman then hit MJF across the forehead with the second tube. MJF was bleeding more heavily from his forehead.

Hangman grabbed a handful of skewers and pounded them into the flesh of MJF’s skull. Many stuck. Danielson said, “And he just got his hair done!” MJF got up at nine. Hangman went back on the attack. Hangman brought a black bag into the ring and he pulled a long chain out of it with two dog collars. He put one dog callar around MJF’s neck. He put the other dog dollar around his own neck. Schiavone called this “one of the most epic nights” in AEW history. When MJF regained his awareness, he panicked over the dog collar and tried to run away. Hangman yanked him back.

Schiavone asked how this would end. Excalibur said one of them will almost assuredly go out on a stretcher and with their lives changed. Hangman set up a table and asked, “Anybody got a lighter?” (I hope there’s no smokers nearby. Indeed, there weren’t any!) He pulled out a barbed wire board instead and placed it on the table. Fans chanted, “We want lighters!” They battled on the ring apron. Hangman kicked MJF in the chest and then climbed to the second rope. MJF yanked Hangman off and Hangman flipped back-first through the barbed wire table. Hangman stood at 9. Danielson said Hangman was one second away from never being table to challenge for the AEW World Title again.

They brawled up the ramp to the stage at 41:00. Hangman yanked MJF into his arms and then leaped off the stage and crashed through tables below with sound board equipment. Pyro blasted from and sparks sputtered. The ref began counting both of them down. Both stood at 9. MJF staggered around. “This is a fight for all times,” said Schiavone.

Hangman dragged a crawling MJF back to the ring. Excalibur said MJF was being “dog walked.” Schiavone said, “He’s a good boy.” Fans chanted, “He’s a good boy!” Hangman shoved MJF over the top rope and then went for a Buckshot. MJF met him a low kick. MJF then grabbed his title belt from ringside. MJF hit Hangman in the head with it. Hangman went down with a thud. The ref counted to 9. Hangman shot up and went after MJF with a kick to the crotch and a belt shot to the head. He let out a roar and played to the crowd. He then set up a Buckshot. MJF charged at him and knocked him off the ring apron. He hung Hangman who passed out. MJF let go and Hangman fell to the ground. Blood got on the camera lens that showed the ref counting to ten.

WINNER: MJF in 46:00 to retain the AEW World Title.

(That was an orgy of violence.)
