This guy's blog is fairly entertaining at times. I laughed when I read this one though..

great opening line. you should see my friends faces light up and ask what game the big red is the first time they enter my house. its pretty accurate.

I dont know if the metaphor fits because in its time the Neo Geo had widespread appeal in arcades. Thw console is still generally respected and liked among gamers who remember it.

I don't know, man. Have you ever met a Grape Nuts fan? They're pretty much one-to-one, if you ask me.

I love how he name-dropped the Neo Geo, but I'm not sure it's a fair analogy. Grape Nuts, I think about that as penance food. You know, like when I feel like I gotta do something nice for my gastro-intestinal tract?

If the Neo Geo (in it's various forms) was to be represented by a cereal, it'd be one of these ...

I think the guy can go fuck himself. "It's for the best" that most people haven't seen or tried the Neo?

He also equates the Neo with something being bland, dense, and boring. Fuck him.

I don't get it. I'm talking about the words he used to essentially describe the Neo-Geo: "bland, dense, and boring." I don't think the Neo is bland; I don't think it's boring. I wasn't complaining about how he describes Grape Nuts. So I don't see how your joke makes any sense in the context.

I think you guys are reading too much into this.

If you're a Neo fan today, not much different than a Grape Nuts fan. Plus, the guy is a Grape Nuts fan.. So it's not like he intended to any slight.

Try having your average buddy over and toss him in front of League Bowling instead of GoW3.

I can't recall the last time I was on ebay and saw a mint (Euro) box of Grape Nuts selling for in excess of $1000.

That's like tossing them in front of ET for the Atari instead of Mario. A mediocre game is no match for a powerhouse GOTY.

If an average buddy has no appreciation for the peak of 16-bit era goodness, then nothing will convince him otherwise. For anyone having grown up with the SNES/Genny/TG-16, Neo Geo was always the elusive and exclusive system that held a certain mystique. It was always a story about a neighbor of a neighbor having one and the ubiquitous wish of having one yourself.

Grape Nuts it ain't. More like ambrosia and nectar of the Olympian gods.

Ehh, uber collecting is a completely different beast. People aren't paying thousands for any Neo game because it's fun.

Okay, then. Are there multiple internet forums dedicated to Grape Nuts fandom? Links, please.

I think hes saying it can't be improved in a way. Like all the newer consoles are like the fluffed up flakes version. true grit core manly stuff and all that and not being the coolest is really the coolest.
