I don't think the election is quite over yet.

I suspected Obama would have explained Wright's preaching as "taken out of context" himself. I can't imagine it would be that hard to say that.

I hope terrorists bomb New England just so you can stop posting stupid bullshit.

Gravel defected to the Libertarians

Not just that, he's running for their nomination.

I think this newspaper blog pretty much covers it:

Gravel to Run for Libertarian Nod
By Sarah Wheaton

Fed up with being excluded from the debates and otherwise marginalized, former Senator Mike Gravel of Alaska announced today that he will seek the Libertarian Party nomination for president.

That’s right, we said Mike Gravel, who had been running as a Democrat – not Representative Ron Paul, who has run on the Libertarian ticket in the past, but recently submitted his name to appear on the ballot in the remaining Republican primary contests.

Skyler McKinley, a Gravel spokesman, said that Mr. Gravel would try to pursue the Libertarian nomination at the party’s convention, which will be held in Denver on May 22-26.

“Whether or not some of our delegates will accept Mike Gravel with some of his positions, that has yet to be seen,” said Andrew Davis, a spokesman for the Libertarian National Committee, adding that Mr. Gravel’s advocacy of universal health care, paid for with a national retail sales tax, could turn off some Libertarians. Also, there are already about 15 candidates vying for the nomination.

From Mr. Gravel’s e-mail message to supporters this morning:

"The fact is, the Democratic Party today is no longer the party of FDR. It is a party that continues to sustain war, the military-industrial complex and imperialism — all of which I find anathema to my views.

"By and large, I have been repeatedly marginalized in both national debates and in media exposure by the Democratic leadership, which works in tandem with the corporate interests that control what we read and hear in the media.

"I look forward to advancing my presidential candidacy within the Libertarian Party, which is considerably closer to my values, my foreign policy views and my domestic views."

What say you, Ron Paul supporters? Is he your new champion?

At the very least, I hope we get more of his awesomely bizarre, minimalist-surreal campaign ads.

That a horribly poor choice for an article title...

Almost as bad as "Starbucks caught stealing employee tips."

It would be more accurate if it said "Hillary is even broker than we thought" but really, it's good enough. I've seen companies go where Hillary does. When you're dodging that many bills for that long, you're out of cash and you know it.

She better get those "big party donors" from writing letters to Pelosi to helping her cook up a solution.

The title is obviously skewed (in regards to the content)...

It's an article about a common practice in campaigns...

All three campaigns use the same practice. Hillary more than others...

but the title "Cash-strapped Clinton fails to pay bills" implies otherwise.

But I hear this type of shit is common at politico.

It's a common practice in business in general to have outstanding bills, but not for the lengths of time she's holding them out.

Like anything, people should be reading the facts more than the headline, but it does suggest she's spent more moolah than she has.

Thought this was kind of amusing:

http://www.scholarsandrogues.com/2008/04/01/which-rocky/

It’s time for Hillary Clinton to bone up on her classic ’70s cinema. Attempting to pander to a Philadelphia crowd, she compared herself to Philly’s most famous fictional son, the Italian Stallion, Rocky Balboa.

The AP reports:

“Let me tell you something, when it comes to finishing a fight, Rocky and I have a lot in common. I never quit. I never give up. And neither do the American people,” Clinton said in excerpts of prepared remarks to be given Tuesday to a meeting of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO.

It’s a hack reference, and it’s a little distressing that she included it in her “prepared remarks” — she needs crib notes for pop culture references? But what’s worse is that it’s an inaccurate one. In her attempt to appear more human by invoking the name of the scrappy underdog fighter, she revealed that there’s a good chance she’s never actually seen the movie. Mrs. Clinton evidently doesn’t realize that in the movie Rocky, the titular character lost the fight - to a black dude!

The victory he celebrates at the end of the movie is about how he “went the distance” in the fight and because he recently won the love and respect of his new girlfriend Adrian. It’s only in the shittier sequels that Rocky actually wins fights. So unless Clinton’s ready to go home and be happy that she tried her best and has gained Bill’s love and respect, she can only liken herself to Rocky II through Rocky V.

Hah, glad I wasn't the only one who laughed at the analogy.

Stallone's behind McCain, anyway.

No one expected 'Rocky' to win the entire year before the fight, either.
It really manages to not work on a single level. Horrible analogy.
