Just voted for Obama with an absentee ballot. I'll be listening to the debates tonight. If I hear McCain say "my friends" one more time.... :hammer:

I'm waiting for more cool zingers like "THAT ONE." :spock:

Gonna be totally weird watching the debate on NHK at 11:15 local Taiwan time.

Galfordo may be a stubborn bastard, but I don't think he's completely unassailable. This other moron is a troll, pure and simple, and he's basically said as much.

I'd rather argue with galfordo all day than that other guy for four nanoseconds, even if I got nowhere. Just sayin'.

galfordo is a fun time. During thanksgiving he brings chicks back to his place for turkey and stuffing. A few years ago it was Melchia. I think last year he brought over Herodotus. Maybe this year Lady Vamp?

I got my 7 a month out of college when I work for Prudential, that my 66, and Life and Health. Insurance in this state is nothing short of criminal. Over run by RAMPANT and BLATENT corruption. The Gov’t has no idea how to deal with a problem except for increasing taxes. Governor Corzine even held the state hostage last summer by shutting down almost all services until he had his budget passed, which was loaded by tax increases. I hope you could appreciate my stance against the Political System as a whole.

Yes, New Jersey is a total cesspool. I agree there. The fact that State Farm and Allstate pulled out of there (without a major disaster affecting their P&C business, as in Louisiana) should tell you something. Even Progressive pulled out of there for a while. It's pretty terrible. I worked for a P&C company at one point and we were getting e-mails saying "DO NOT SELL TO PEOPLE IN NEW JERSEY!" (even though we were licensed there) because of the ridiculous amount of regulation.

Fortunately, the rest of the country isn't in as bad of shape as NJ.

Interesting that you worked for Pru...everyone seems to go through Pru, Met, NY Life, or NW Mutual at one point or another.

For posterity, during the third Presidential candidate debate of this election, there was a separate thread located here for comments.

Mods, if you want to merge it in here after-the-fact, it's your move.

:eye::eye:

Because the purpose of this thread WASN'T to contain all the political threads about the election? (arguable more important now that Unrelated has absorbed multiple forums)

This year has been a lot tamer than '04 on the boards though.

I miss JHendrix :(

One thing though, I wouldn't argue history with Lagduf, he is most likely infinitely more well versed in the subject. ;)

In fairness I wouldn't say I know more, but just get REALLY excited to talk about history.

WW2 isn't my specialty. There are members who know more on this topic. I've avoided really in depth looks at the conflict simply because that area is so crowded anyway. I figure i'll study something else and maybe (not likely) I can contribute to that field.

I just don't like this troll painting World War 2 as a black and white conflict between good guys and badguys, because it wasn't. It only becomes a righteous conflict after the fact with the discovery of the Holocaust. Of course now i'll labeled as saying fighting WW2 wasn't a good thing, but then again - some people never learn.

QUBE FOR PRESIDENT IN '08 :buttrock:

Another 'conservative' automaton gone from teh boards. No biggie.

Nah, he was a good member to the community overall.

Plus he certainly made for fun debates on politics back in '04.

I can't remember who the hell is epic debates were with. Was it das Loopz?

Hendrix is an example of why we shouldn't let members get married here. Bad for traffic.

Could it get any worse for McCain?

Ok so this whole "Joe Plumber" thing was new to me today. But I think I understand it.

So there is this guy Joe, and he's kind of like the 'Joe Six-pack' Palin keeps talking about, only a plumber and a real person. Someone interviews him after he asked Obama a bunch of questions and he spouts a bunch of 'thinkin with yer gut' comments and suddenly people are treating him like his opinion matters a whole lot. McCain talked about him a bunch apparently.

Well this guy, Joe Wurzelbacher, turns out he's not a registered voter (or plumber, but the verdict is still out).

Thats pretty fucking funny. I guess he would vote for McCain... if he could.

edit: more good shit about Joe

Even more about Joe the plumber.

http://www.eisenstadtgroup.com/2008/...-keating-oops/
Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

McCain planted this dude. Pure and simple.

The FBI and IRS should investigate old Joe the Plumber because he got paid under the table for sure.

We used to argue at length on aim about Bush, his intelligence level, his competence level, foreign policy merits, etc.

I can't help but assume that the reality of the past four years has been pretty cathartic for old Jhendrix since he was wrong on every level about the guy.

One more outrageous McCain tidbit

"We need to encourage programs such as Teach for America and Troops to Teachers where people, after having served in the military, can go right to teaching and not have to take these examinations which -- or have the certification that some are required in some states."

Yeah of course. What could be better for Amerrca than soldiers teaching school, right out of the military, with no certificate!

if this isnt a sharkjump comment I dont know what is.

Take a conservative public school teacher with a PHD for example, how could that person still vote for McCain after this comment? He/she spent however the fuck much time and money it takes (waaaay too much of both) to finally get a PHD only to have your conservative would-be President say some straight stupid shit like this. Wow.

Hendrix finally gave up on the Republicans as a whole...

He was pretty demoralized by the gross mismanagement.....

Great guy tho.... Put on a great meet.

I know he was put off with the republicans by 2004, but I also figured that with his engineering job, wife, and new home that the guy simply had no time for this place.

No huge loss. We now have more conservatives to beat up.

Maybe it's just the culture of my company. We don't do a ton of securities other than mutual funds. I have my 7, but my focus is planning.
How many companies have you worked for? I've worked for five investment companies in the space of five years. I know a lot of aspects of the industry, not just one company's culture.

At least he actually liked fighting games. I'd take JHendrix over eggbert or the new stupid fuckers that haunt this place.
