The best part about healthcare?

McCain and his family has been on government healthcare nearly his whole life (so hasn't Phil Grahm)....

Born on a Naval Base, Grew up a Navy Brat, Joined the Navy, Became a congressman.......

He's never gotten that bill that the insurance company won't pay parts of for unknown fucking reasons.

Second point....
Despite their shitty reputation.. VA care centers are up to par or better than their counterparts.

I'm guessing that Galfordo has never been to one....

The biggest difference between the VA center and city hospital?
The VA centers pay their employees better....

VA = veterans affairs

it's a federal healthcare system for veterans

VA is the postal abbreviation for Virginia.

My mother now works for Veterans Affairs.

The VA used to be pretty horrible from what I understand.

A shame because Veterans rightfully deserve the best care we can conceivably provide.

This is hilarious for two reasons.
. If VA hospitals still look like shit...guess whose fault it is?
\?

May 2006: McCain voted against an amendment that would provide $20 million to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for health care facilities.

April 2006: McCain was one of only 13 Senators to vote against $430,000,000 for the Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans.

March 2006: McCain voted against increasing Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes.

March 2004: McCain once again voted for abusive tax loopholes over veterans when he voted against creating a reserve fund to allow for an increase in Veterans' medical care by $1.8 billion by eliminating abusive tax loopholes. Jeez, McCain really loves those tax loopholes for corporations, since he voted for them over our veterans' needs.

He seems to not want people to live I think it's about damn time we got nationalized health care.

I know it has been said before, but there are tons of things wrong with the healthcare system. I just do not believe that healthcare is a right. So I do not believe that government healthcare is the solution.

Also Lagduf switching up Veteran's Affairs for Virginia might be the best part of my morning so far :p

I think Obama has pretty much clarified his position as much as he can, he is not going to ask for the dissolution of private healthcare. I take issue with your, and McCain's position, that if it's not a market solution, then it's a government solution (and your position that government is always untenable), when in fact they can work together.

No because government doesn't provide anything. Taxpayers do. And I don't want to be paying for such a costly program with more debt sold to the Chinese.

I'm not trying to say that Obama is going to make me get socialized health care, I know he isn't.

is it more costly than our military spending program, which China probably holds a great deal of our debt in, and which China probably exacerbates through the UN and diplomatic ties to antagonistic nations?

Another wrong does not make a right ;)

I'm all for backing out most of our supposed 'defense' budget which has been insanely offensive for the past 40 years. There was a $690b budget bill passed a week before the bailout package that got less attention that gave $500b for defense.

Of course, McCain is totally backwards on this spending issue. Pointing at Obama for getting $700m in pork projects, or proposing $800b in new spending for his term in office, then ranting about the war we need that is going to run into a cool few trillion easily before all is said and done.

The entire world collectively spends something like 1 trillion USD on defense each year.

The United States spends 500 billion USD of that 1 trillion

But we have a lot of money to spend compared to the rest of the world. The percentage of our GDP we spend on the military is not even close to most middle eastern countries, and North Korea takes first prize on that by a long shot.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_military_expenditures

Even though we spend a lot, we aren't close to spending what we could be spending on the military.

We should totally spend more.

There a bunch of black people that have been protesting his appearances... Was it one of them?

I don't think that it is a right of the people, but I believe that it is a responsibility of the government under Article 1, Section 8.

Under which part?

provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States

That might be as close as I get, but even then, it is to provide for the welfare of the country not its individual citizens or at least that is how I read it.

During the debate last night I just kept thinking of John McCain saying something like, "Who wants a Worther's Original, my friends?"

He's such an old fogy, hope this is over soon. Obama better fucking win.

Nice phone to candidate analogy Fish.

This is hilarious for two reasons.

A. There wouldn't be so many people in VA hospitals if folks in your party didn't have such a hard-on for war.

B. You guys controlled the White House for 8 years, and Congress for 12 of the last 14 years. If VA hospitals still look like shit...guess whose fault it is?

Also, what part of "You can keep your own coverage if you are happy with it" didn't you understand?

A. the problems have nothing to do with how many patients are there.

B. there has been a problem for much longer than 12 years.

oh great, obama is going to allow me to keep my own coverage, what a generous guy

thank you mr. government savior, where would i be without you? i wonder how much longer generous politicians will allow us to choose our own coverage.

do you just make this shit up or what?

the pay is not better, unless you're talking about really shitty inner city hospitals

you need to do a little more research before spouting off nonsense
