Now that most of us have our pre-orders in. What did you get?

Standard console
Wireless joystick
All 10 games (from Amazon Japan)

Cost me a couple hundred bucks more than it would have to get the ultimate bundle…which also would have included the pad, memory card and dat shelf (). But I really wanted the Japanese inserts. :emb:

If the inserts turn out to be region reversible, then oh well 🤷‍♂️ That’s one less pair of lululemons for mrs moe.

don't you all already own all those games and have played them a thousand times?

Whats up Dr. Shroom, I’ll take the bait :lolz:
Admittedly, yes. I still have and play all the og neo hardware.

Modern consoles and games are awesome (dat 5 tho), but I always come back to this library the most. Neo Geo games have been decently liberated from their original hardware since the old Neorage X days, but for those of us who simply kept the hardware all this time it’s just easier to turn on and play. Same games, same controllers, flaws and all. If the AES+ can deliver, I look forward to yet another alternative way to enjoy the library in addition to the carts I already have.

There’s not much solid logic to fandom (sports fans can relate). I’m just glad to see the neo and its library is still around in so many ways. It’s just a great system and library imho so I keep buying and playing.

[goob mode ON] Your choice that’s the better call regardless, even if inserts will be reversible for some reasons, you would have mismatching labels and manuals. Better keep everything nice and JP clean [goob mode OFF].

But if Plaion decides their next Atari is a white anniversary Jaguar with CD?
lol, then I'm definitely not gonna buy it because I fucking hate the Jaguar. I only like the novelty of having the Jaguar CD complete. (Yep, I goobed.)

Seriously, if they make more ASIC consoles after this, good for them, but I'm not interested. I'm only goobing this time because I make an exception for the Neo.

You'd be all over that thing like @MSL at a pie festival.
I'm fine with the Jaguar CD jokes, but I'm not going to be the Jaguar guy here. Atari and that system stole my money as a kid, and I will never forgive them for that.

I just want a solid, working console and would be happy with the standard but I pre-ordered the white Anniversary bundle simply because of the wireless stick and Slug cart. However, I really don’t like the white AES+. I’m usually ok with white products (my phone is white) but it just looks wrong on the AES. That white Slug cart just looks awful too. I was worried the Anniversary bundle might not be available after launch, so I‘ll keep my preorder for now and may end up canceling for a black console.

What made you choose a Jaguar over 3DO?

Why do you assume I did? My brother gave me his 3DO FZ-10 and Jaguar years ago when he quit video games. They were both bought super cheap. My pal Fenris Wolf Retro RGB modded the 3DO for me recently.

I thought you were saying Jaguar stole your money as a kid.
As a kid, when Jaguar was pretty new, I traded a very nice SMS and Game Gear collection for one. It was profound disappointment, and I quickly traded it back. I lost a lot on the deal, but I guess I should thank Atari for the lesson learned.

Later, my little brother got a new one on clearance at EB for $50.

3DO, I remember being curious about it, but it was pretty far out of my price range. The same brother bought a used FZ-10 maybe around 1996 for $130.

I see. So you made your choice before the 3DO price dropped. Makes sense.

When I was deciding between Jaguar and 3DO in '94, Jaguar was $250 with one free
game and 3DO was $399 with three
free games.
