It will be funny if people open these carts up and it's just a dinky little 1"x1" compact flash card inside.
If you only care about the games, what does the storage medium matter? It's just binary data - whatever it's stored on makes no difference. Why do you think you buy big box floppy disk games for pc still? It's not because of the game - you could purchase it from gog or download it from anywhere yet you choose to buy Mavis beacon 1995 sealed on disk because it reminds you of a time where you had prospects, dreams of touching a woman's skin, before you gave up and decided to type in male jockstraps at 2am on your vintage aol95 disc and succumbed

I'll have to grab that NTM cart at some point for the scottish course. And maybe a wireless controller depending on the quality after reviews start coming out. But upon reflection, I dont need another neo console, and I've already got all the games I want on either homecart or mvs. So I'll probably just save the money this time instead of filling up the shelves with more copies of the same games I already have. I know, that doesn't sound like me, does it. Hahaha

I got the base system, Shock Trooper, Metal Slug and Pulstar. I might grab a second controller if they are good.

This is a quest for authenticity. People are spending $1k because they think they will get 1:1 copies of 1990s stuff that needs the full case size. When they open the cart and see that they bought an ersatz trinket, a tiny flash card inside an empty cart shell, there will be much discontent. Bet the console looks like this inside too.

not to recycle a joke already made this page but this is what people find under your pants, a tiny flash card inside an empty jockstrap, an ersatz trinket

I had a Neo in one form or another for 20 years but sold it off to fund other hobbies multiple times. I don’t regret that but it is a system I always miss.

Ordered the standard system with Slug and MOTW.

If it’s good I’ll pick up some more carts and another controller. It would be nice to have a small collection again at a sane price, even if it’s not original hardware etc.

If looks like it’s going to suck I’ll cancel the order.

Would have wanted to waste more monies but timing was crap so for now it's an oldstyle and Slug 1, preordered from Plaion Europe.

More to follow.

Oh, and about the bs discussion about what's inside the carts and console, well, I for one wouldn't care even if they stuffed half a dead pigeon and some marmalade in there as long as it does what it's supposed to. OF COURSE there will be no oldschool chips and crystals and whatnot, it's the 2020s, we can do that shit much more efficient and cheaper now.

The carts are made to look like the real deal because, uhm, they are Neo carts and are supposed to look that way, OF COURSE they are mere flash/whatevs memory adapters to be stuffed in the big wide slot of the homecart system, that's all. For me, it's about the game on whatever storage they chose, anything else is nice to have (good-quality plastic for the carts, good stickers, etc., you know, the goob stuff) but not strictly necessary, surely not for the comparably low price of the carts.

80 bucks for a homecart. 80 bucks. Hello, McFly!

Now please...

There is no authenticity, it's a reissue and not even made by SNK

Bought the black console pack - it's definitely that part that holds the most promises to me as it ensures the system's longevity, takes it to a HD that has every reason to be clean, and still has that RGB output that will allow the games to be played on CRTs the way Crom intended.
From the look of things and without having silly expectations, it's now very likely to be what we thought was too good to ever be made.

Not buying any games for now, I already have a collection. If they're good, I might buy Magician Lord just to throw some money at an old title.
