Noisy fan in MVS cab

When I turned on my MVS 2-slot today, I noticed a loud, "whirring" sound that I had never heard before.

Through a little trial and error, I pretty much narrowed it down to the fan unit at the bottom of the cab.

My question: is this a common occurance, and what needs to be done to fix this? I'm hoping that it's a minor problem that can be solved with just a little bit of work, but if not, would it be best to just pick up a whole new fan unit?

That is a common problem. My power supply fan made the same noise (that's what's doing it on yours). You can get a new power supply for about $30 or so dollars. Just check woth your local arcade distributor. Try "Mountain Coin." I think they are a national chain. That or local yellow pages under amusement.

actually, just cleaning the fan or replacing it (should be a standard type and size) should do the trick.

I have to agree with Arakon. My fan in my 4-slot was very loud, but just taking it apart and cleaning the fan really good fixed it. And, now it is very quite, as it should be.
