No, at least permit neo-related auctions. :(

Yes. The point you should remember is that all of us are guests here, we don't dictate how the forums owner should run things. As it is, the forums are extremely open and non-restrictive in how things are run, maybe a bit too much even . . .

You know, Im surprised no one has thought of making their own page.

Say a html page up, listing ng.com members auctions & sales of non neo related stuff.

Could call it the marketplace, or whatever.

I think that would be a great service to the communitty, & could lead to a a nice fan site if someone put in the effort.

Personally, I like auction links.
I may play devils advocate, but too me the links are a useful heads up.
I like neo auction links.

I'm going to publish a video game site soon. I have thought about adding a forum and chat... I am not familiar with these additions, but I'm sure I can figure it out. Meh, I guess it's in the works now.

I don't really see what harm posting auction links causes, or any reason why this change was necessary. But hey, I'm gonna fall in lock-step with the rest of "the management" and see to it that the rule is enforced as long as it's in effect.

Both Alec and myself had similar set-ups on our old sites. Mine was called the "Black Market", and for its day, it was fairly popular. The problem is, managing something like that takes quite a bit of work; especially when you have lots of listings to add and remove on a daily basis. A database driven system with individual user accounts would be a better alternative, but really, why go to the trouble to set something like that up when a forum serves the purpose just about as well?

NO.

i don't see why, thanks to some CD-R troll (you know who you are), we should all suffer. There's no halm in ebay links. i'd have missed out on a lot of great stuff i wouldn't usually have searched for.

No. It wasn't causing any problems that I could tell. The main thing about it, though, is that it's really vague. I mean, what if someone mentions they have things up for auction? So instead of linking everyone has to go search manually? Come on, that's stupid. Just let them link, or clarify the rules. There should at least be scenarios where links are permitted if there's a legitimate reason. Maybe, if many members are fighting over who's going to buy an item then the seller might just say "Ok it's going on auction" and post a link. Shouldn't that be acceptable?

It’s clear that prohibiting auction links is opposed by the majority. This rule is no longer in effect. Neo Related auction URLs can be posted in the Selling Forum, and unrelated auction URLs can be posted in Everything Else. Only illegal software (CDR’s) is prohibited.

Thanks Shawn, you are great. Majority rules, I think democracy is the best. And yes, I also think that the new board will be good, that way we can separate a bit the different types of items for sale.

So I guess this thread has been very useful to the community, but now it's not, so maybe we should just close it.

I love this boards! <img src="graemlins/mrt2.gif" border="0" alt="[Mr T]" />
