Hey guys, i'm hoping that you could answer a question...i've read somewhere in a Google post from a yr or two ago where some guy said that certain calendar dates effect certain games. ie, He said in Kotf R2, @ Christmas time, Athena (or one of the other female fighters) wears a special holiday uniform on that day, as well as gaining new attacks. Any truth to this? I've never heard this before.

Huh, I've not heard anything about this. But then again, my vast knowledge of all things NGPC has been proved infallible once in a while *coughbullshitcough*

I've heard of it, but never seen it.

It's probably just another one of those rumours that you hear from time to time.

Another one, is the supposed bonus mini games in Ganbare that become available after you have completed the original 30 games !

The calendar does affect a few games. For instance, if you are playing the Samurai Shodown (Samurai Spirits, since it never saw a US release) on the Neo Geo Pocket, the blooming sakura in spring will turn into maple leaves when in fall, and snow when it is winter. Another game that does utilize the clock, not the calendar as far as I can tell, is Metal Slug 2nd Mission. When it is morning, the female guide in the office will say 'good morning' and when it is night she will say 'good evening'. I don't know if there are any other SNK released games that utilized the calendars and clock, but these are the tried and true ones, I've tried them out on my Neo Geo Pocket Color.
Another thing you might do is change the date to December 25 and see what happens. Which I will do when I get home.

Beating all the mini-games in Ganbare unlocks an album with pictures and info on all of Poke-kun's guests. Each page of the album gets unlocked when you've seen each of that guests different animations.

Of course...we still don't know what happens when you've unlocked the whole album...heheh...

And Ganbare is also a great example of a game that uses both the calendar and the clock. Can anyone remember any of the calendar dependent animations? The only one I can recall right now is where Poke-kun waves a cherry blossom branch around spring equinox, but I know there's some others, too.

Another game that uses the calendar is Pocket tennis / Pocket tennis color. The cups you get depends on when you play the game.

I'm gonna try it too. I didn't know the NGPC did anything like this.

I just know that if it does work I'm gonna get really excited for around 2 seconds and then turn it off.

I tried tooling around with the calendar function with King of Fighters R2, and the conclusion is no, it does not give Athena a Santa Claus outfit. When she goes into shining crystal bit mode, sometimes she dons her Athena costume from the old platformer game.

Well, after being stuck in traffic yesterday and today I noticed that Athena in SNK vs CAP -is- effected by the Dec. 25th date. On any non-Xmas day, her costume changes randomly after a victory. However, on 12/25 she only has her Xmas uniform on after a victory.
