So I think people are lumping mass shootings and terrorist attacks into one group just because both have to do with gun violence. But they are two totally different issues, that need to be addressed differently. I do think that stricter gun laws would cut down on some of the "mentally ill" mass shootings, but its not going to stop terrorist or other criminals for gun violence.

Now i don't know a lot about our relations with the middle east besides the fact that we have been fighting with them for as long as i can remember. Maybe the issue is that we continue to fight in their country, and there are people that live there that see us as evil, and want to do whatever they can to harm us. Imagine if you lived somewhere where another nation was constantly attacking you. I can see why some people might want to take actions to "fight back".

Indonesia has the worlds largest Muslim population. I'm not well versed in this stuff, but I don't believe that many of these terrorist attacks by Muslims are rooted back to Indonesia. Is that because the United States isn't currently fighting in Indonesia? I'm not sure, again, I'm not well versed in a lot of this stuff. But why are all the terrorist coming from places we have been warring with for god knows how long?

IIRC:

The early 2000's Bali attacks were Indonesian.
And there are also issues with separatists in the Philippines.

Yeah, I'm not to versed in this stuff. So it can come off as just ignorance. Thats why i posted though. I'm sure some people here know way more about this stuff than I

Mass this and mass that. Who gives a fuck who is right, what do you get from proving a view on this? This shit is about a potential terrorist attack, not nit picky proving yourself shit. This place might as well be down the street from me. Now I gotta worry if this has some family chain of events that haven't unfolded, I gotta wonder when I'm at shitty grocery stores or other places.

Mr. Peabody...let's use the Wayback to go back to yesterday, second post:
Where's Norton when you need him....

xROTx
Immediately seconded:

COME ON NORTON!... It's gonna come down to either a rant about Political inactivity of control gun law...

...or some pseudo racial boolshit.... with possibly some moozlem angorz mixed into the thread...

GO FOR IT NORTON!

xROTx
Then:
Nah, I just wait till someone say something that is demonstrably incorrect, and I call them on it.
And let the floodgates open wide.

How's that for a summary ;)

I don't believe legislating or enforcing laws across the population of the country is going to ever thwart someone willing to die and take people with them. It may mitigate in terms of the method to a degree but the root cause will not be addressed.
We can add all the security theater in the world to make us feel safer, and all it will do is give more insight for the attackers on how to circumvent it.
If we can't raise quality of life for those everywhere to the point where no one wants to get off this ride prematurely we will never see the end of shit like this.

What people commonly call gun control won't prevent or mollify most high-profile mass shootings (Sandy Hook being a possible exception).

Other forms of gun violence on the other hand it would quite possibly work.

LOL @ your tired old arguments. They simply do not hold up against the fact that your country has far, far more gun deaths per capita than any other civilised country.

If those guns used in San Bernadino had been sufficiently hard to come by, no one would have died.

Why is your country so racist? Open up your borders (and your womens legs) for the migrants, plz

Sweden is running out of space.

I do the same, when childless people try and offer me parenting advice.

I only ever offer one piece of advice to parents... seeing as I don;t have any of my own children...

It's simple... have them all adopted until they're 18... and if the kids turn out OK...

Turn up and ask for a handout...

Usually when I hear this, it comes from people who are marginal to awful parents. If they had actually taken the advice into consideration instead of impulsively rejecting the background of the source, they might see the wisdom in it. But they think that just because they are the primary diaper changer, they know everything about developmental psychology.

By and by, the smartest post in this thread. Not sure why after shit like this, or really just any national or worldwide event, people come crawling out of their holes to try and prove they're some sort of expert on every damn thing, dribbling the same diatribe, comment after comment, post after post.

Welp, they just found out the guy was planning a terrorist attack but made it personal because of his arrangements at work. They found 2000 rounds of .223 and 2500 9mil in his apt and he's linked to terrorist groups.

The amount of rounds does not really tell me that much... the linkage to terrorist groups does though...

I mean, any firearm aficionados would tell you there's no such thing as a lack of ammo (:

I dunno about this, it's usually a certain kind of person, childless or not, that offers parenting advice to others (unsolicited), and these are not the kind of people I would in general pay much attention to on any subject. Rational people in a normal social environment know very well that thrusting advice on people whether they like it or not is no way to get people to listen to you, it's usually just a thinly veiled complaint.

Different if it's in a professional environment.

Having lots of ammunition doesn't mean you're planning an attack.
I have like 1500 rounds of 7.62x54R and an assortment of almost 450 shot shells in 00 buck, slugs, turkey, and bird shot.
I've also got a 250 round case of 25ACP in my closet somewhere.

I'm not planning on shooting anything but paper, pheasants, turkey, and wild pigs.

I got the ammo because it's cheaper to buy in bulk.

There's a difference though, you didn't just murder 14 helpless people. I think it's a pretty safe assumption he wasn't going to use it to shoot paper, pheasants, turkey, and wild pigs.
