Am I the only one who doesn't like a lemon in my beer? I consider it a criminal act.
I say it compliments only certain beers. I had a lemon with one of my beers in NY and it was good.

Was getting around to editing some photos from the past 6 months, and I found a photo of one of my favorite beers. In fact it was the very type/brand of beer that turned me onto beer at the same location --I previously hated the stuff, mostly because I was trying only crap (what else to expect in college?). Then one day, spending time in Pasadena before the annual USC/UCLA game, I went with a buddy to the local Gordon Biersch brewery in old town and had a draft of the Gordon Biersch Hefeweizen. Holy cow, I was in love.
I don't assume their numerous airport branches have the same quality, but the brewpubs --at least this one-- pours one of the best beers you can have (and I don't just like them in summer months).
In this case it was after a very hot day in the LA Coliseum, watching and yelling during the USC-Ohio State game. Since we ended up trampling the Buckeyes, I took my Ohio State friends who'd traveled with me to Old Town and we had some brews and food. Lemon only adds to it.
Damn, I don't get a chance to drink this stuff out here --just looking at the beer makes me thirsty. I remember I was so enthralled by this brew that, back in 2001, I bought two of their glasses just like the one I'm holding here.
I consider myself a decent Sam Adams fan, for a good sized brewery its still good beer. Im looking forward to trying the new Stouts line there doing. Only Imperial I have had was the Flying Dog, and it was good. Got this mail
"The Imperial Series includes two new beers, Samuel Adams® Imperial Stout and Samuel Adams® Imperial White plus an amped up recipe of the legendary Samuel Adams® Double Bock. You can find all of the stats on the website (will be up in a couple of days, we're told) but Jim wanted to be the one to tell you about them. So, the office guys got some cameras, came into the brewery and filmed this little segment. Hope you enjoy it."
Should be in stores end of this month. Not sure what craft and other brews I will get next time. I need some new stuff, and more of that Chimay Grand Reserve.
i got a six pack of blue moon in the fridge right now...i luuuuurve it =P
there's a total wine close to my house that carries a shitload of different imported beers...
lithy, give me a list of six that i should try...
i like lighter flavors, nothing too heavy..but i also enjoy a good dark beer every once in a while.
i'll go and get then and review them =P
They've got a PDF online for each store, so I will work on this later when I have some time.
My Rule of Thumb:
Avoid anything in a Green Bottle.

Ok here is a pick six of lighter styles with alternates.
Allagash White or Ommegang Witte
Lost Coast 8 Ball Stout or Left Hand Milk Stout
Anchor Liberty Ale or Oskar Blues Dale's Pale Ale
Bell's Amber Ale or The Duck-Rabbit Amber Ale
Highland Gaelic Ale or Rogue Dead Guy
Kona Longboard Island Lager or Brooklyn Pilsner
Oddball styles you may not like
Dogfish Head Festina Peche (slightly sour Berliner Weisse)
Fort Collins Z Lager (Smoked beer)
All of these should come in under 2 bucks a bottle as singles.
I'll save pricier recommendations for later, but if you want one, I'd suggest starting with Orval.
highland gaelic ale is my favorite beer =P
i'll get over to the store and get some of these..
thanks lithy!

So who is drinking right now?
I'm up to beer 8 for the day.
Although I admit to having poured a few of them down the drain. The Port, Sherry, and Lagavulin cask aged J.W. Lee's Harvest Ales were all relative drain pours. Big time cardboard and oxidation.

Alaskan Smoked Porter
