Samuel Adams Dark Ale.....................................
I managed to sit down with Sin City Brewery's Weisse and Light beers. The Weisse is easily one of the best Hefeweizens I've ever had. It's a touch sweet, a little spicy, and refreshing. Very clove-heavy with an unusually pleasant banana aftertaste.
Their Light beer... tastes like water. Kinda sad since the rest of their selection is pretty stellar, but ah well.
Posting about it got me motivated to pull them out of the new beer cellar.

It is just kinda the way things go with light beers. Many brewpubs have them in their lineup to appeal to those that will not likely like beer to begin with. Here our Smoky Mountain Brewery has a light and by comparison to other 'lights/lites' it is a pretty good beer but compared to the rest of their lineup, by far the weakest. Does Sin City bottle their beers?

So I opened the paper wrapped bottle of Liefman's Goudenband last night. Turns out it was a 2006 bottle.
It was terrible, a completely flat, oxidized mess. There was evidence of some leaking on the paper so I can only assume the cork did not hold up.
Both of my 1999s that I have had have been miles better. I've got one other bottle that believe is another 2006 I'll have to open and see how it is. I would love to get a taste of what a fresher bottle is like.
Also toured the Sam Adams brewery which wasn't that great in itself, but I did get to sample and vote on two of their potential new releases, Coffee Stout and Blackberry Witbier.
Any recommendations for non-bitter beers that I can pick up from the supermarket (Safeway, Savemart, etc.)? Guinness & Newcastle are good but still a tad bitter. I'm guessing I need something malty?
Found a tripel that I love pixeljunkie...
Unfortunately it is a limited bottling of 700 cases that I bought back in the summer in Atlanta.

Bourbon barrel aged tripel.
I'm currently working to dwindle down my large collection of 22oz to 750mL bottles, they are quite simply more than I usually want to drink. So in the future when I can I will be opting for the 33cL or 12oz bottles if possible and buying less large bottles.
Also thinking I may make a trip to Winston-Salem, NC for the release of this fantastic beer on February 7th.

New Boulevard year round offering coming in March. A currently unnamed Maibock is also scheduled to be a new seasonal offering likely in late Spring before the Zon shows up.
And then to join the Smokestack lineup this year:
Spring - Imperial Stout
Summer - Double Witbier
Fall - Dopplebock
Winter - Barleywine
Man I wish we got their 750s, might have to commission Lagduf to send some my way.
Also word on the street is that Hoegaarden, Goose Island, and Kona will be bringing some of their under 6.5% stuff to the Knoxville market.
Am I the only one who doesn't like a lemon in my beer? I consider it a criminal act.
