Last of the Japanese to English remakes. Matrimelee. Could not find good art for Hikaru, plus the effect was probably beyond my skill level for recreating so instead of kind of recreating the mini and just using the scan as a template, I opted to basically go nuts with the clone tool to remove any parts of the Japanese text and then lay just the control area information over it keeping most of the background. Swapped the upper left logo for the US region one and then swapped out the bottom copyright text. Huge thanks to @ahcmetal for getting a scan of the flyer to me so I could finish this one.

Thinking of starting a new thread just so I can organize everything better..

Did a few minor tweaks on the Slug 4, Arcade Shock Matrimelee, and KOF01 to address some things I wasn't happy with. Files have been updated.

Noticed that a couple of the repro mini marquee places had Crossed Swords 2 on their list. Went and dug through the 50 pages of Crossed Swords 2 talk to find a mini marquee that was mocked up by Razoola and then cleaned up by JacKc which is the same as the one repro mini marquee page.

This one is the design on another repro mini marquee page.

Both are different from the final printed mini marquee which you can see here (look at the placement of the art, small text changes in the A&B Simultaneously section, and a greyed out D button to signify that it isn't used).

So I attempted to recreate the final one. It isn't identical either but it is closer.

Here is a scan of the SamSho5 mini marquee from the PS2 Online Collection reprints. As best I can tell it is the only one that got a significant art change from the original (the rest has just minor changes to copyright text and company logos). These are printed on glossy material just like all of the original mini marquees while the mini marquee on original release was just glossy paper.

You can see that they dropped all of the copyright text from the middle right side. They shrunk the main artwork and logo down slightly too so now the logo fits entirely onto the mini marquee. The controls area was moved up slightly to accommodate the copyright text below it. The logo still covers up all or most of two characters faces which is terrible design.

PS2 Reprint on the left, original on the right

So here's a question. Who thinks that SNKP didn't even remember that SamSho6 came out on Atomiswave when they put it in the 'Neo Geo' collection? Well, they printed up a mini marquee for it like it was a Neo Geo game like all the rest of the titles. So here it is.

These don't really belong here, but I ended up with 3 Japanese only minis in great shape so I scanned them. The Mahjong one is usually super faded/yellowed. The yellowish-ness of LosJ I think is how it was originally...but I could be wrong. Maybe I'll make an English version of MPE at some point? I dunno.

Do you have like an archive of all of the mini marquees? I'd like to scoop them up.

Besides what I've posted here, the best collection I have found of all of the games is a set someone put together on Launchbox. But some aren't correct or are lower quality. I had to make an account to download it. If you don't have that one, I can toss it up on my Google Drive in a couple days.

Even if he is your only free customer for this weird endeavor, i would still look at the person asking and say no.

Weird endeavor? Weird endeavor!?! This is the best thread to ever grace this website.

Mini marquees are awesome.

Anyway, Merry Christmas @NeoCverA these are the work of a Mr. RetroLust over on Launchbox, they're all laid out in a single slot marquee frame. But they could be bulk cropped. Not all are strictly original scans, but it is as good of a starting point as anything else I've seen.

A user on A-P, jim197, redrew several mini marquees. Some are just styled after the regular official ones, but there are a few I wanted to highlight that fit this thread.

Link to his thread which includes a link to his Dropbox which has many other useful files in there as well. I believe all of these are redone/redrawn from other art and not necessarily scanned from original sources but I don't know exactly.

So here is a KOF01 in a similar style as the official paper marquee. A KOF03 created from the art flyer assets. And a recreation of the SVC Chaos Arcade Shock mini.

The first 2 minis are badly yellowed. They were with white window and brighter colors when new from snk.
