Screen issue: Less details, less contrast and sharpness, colors not crispy. Watch some youtube reviews or screen comparsions.
Here are some exampels: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9uIjUfKCjI

You would have thought with the review's on the NeoGeo X on youtube would put people off buying one completely?

I'd think a lot of funny things like that! For example, you would think that Bay's Transformers movies, being ginormagantuan piles of crap, with just as many bad reviews, would put people off from going to see them. They still print money, though. Granted, that may not be the most relevant example. But all the same, reviews and facts never seem to stop anyone when they want something bad enough, or even enjoying it in spite of said facts, plain as they may be!

Even if Transformers did get rave reviews you would still not see me in the cinema waiting in lines to watch some crap movie, I have seen the Neo Geo X with my own eye's and with like so many other people on this site saying who bad that thing is I can't be that wrong?

Take last week for example a friend of mine had a Neo Geo X for about a week and that was enough to convince him that the handheld was a cheap inferior take on the Neo Geo name and returned it back without any hesitation or regret's.

I don't even know why you bothered to post to this forum section if you don't like the NGX, you and your "friend" are few against many satisfied NGX owners.

Also as much as you can try to claim the NGX is bad just cause some morons on youtube said so, there's an equal amount of positive reviewers on Youtube as well. In addition if you notice, the majority of negative reviews on youtube are based on comparisons to 2-3 times more expensive Playstation Portables/Vitas or other multibillion dollar corporation products, and just can't comprehend that there's a device that's solely for gaming, instead they try to make negative points that it doesn't have wifi, a web browser, a touch screen, and a media manager/music player.

Luckily there's individuals out there giving the positive reviews who can comprehend and grew up in the era when handheld devices didn't need all that flashy gimmicks and was solely for gaming. Thus the NGX is a modern take of a 1990s handheld without the bulk, no need for AA batteries that drain faster than you can beat a game... a unit built solely for NG gaming and nothing more.

Incorrect.

It's a POS dingoo clone (oh yeah, there's other emulators buried in this thing). That runs Neo games with screen tearing, sound issues, horrible filter, and missing graphics for some games. The only thing "Neo" about it is the packaging.

This thing's one job was to run 20 year old games, and it fails miserably. I own one, it's crap.

And it has additional shoulder buttons
And a 16x9 screen
and emulators on it for other systems buried in the file system

Clearly, a Neo Geo purpose built machine.

You can get a PSP handheld new for less than the neo geo x, so why not make the comparison. Two to three times more expensive, where are you pulling these figures from?

Clearly, a Neo Geo purpose built machine.

shoulder buttons serve one purpose atm, to change the aspect ratio, 16:9 or 4x3 or pause, however with the additional 4 buttons, it does offer opportunity for original titles or possibly down the line arcade ports (either officially or unofficial) from games with six button configurations.

Last I checked the Playstation Vita still retails for 249.99 (wifi) or 299.99 (wifi/3g) compared to the neogeo x which retailed when i got it for only 129.99, definitely 2-3 times as much with simple math, and yes you can get a vita cheaper on ebay, but same with a neogeo x, in which case it's still 2-3 times more expensive.. As for the original psp, it's still retailing between 129.99-149.99, i just listed that to cover the bases, a nintendo 3DSXL retails for 199.99.

Haters

Why all the hating? My 6 year old loves metal slug on his CRT and he is kicking my but. He asked to play the Neo Geo. I call this a success. I got mine for a buck 29 and don't feel ripped off. A movie for a family of 4 costs 60 bucks before another 30 for p corn, drinks and candy. The Neo Geo X is a much better value. If you don't like it move on!

They can't move on. Just ignore them. Advice I got from a guy who has been here for a very long time.

I've been playing mine since early January. I leave it on display at my store all the time and folks love it. I only really play it docked though. I'm not a big time portable guy.

Exactly and yes. I play mine more on the handheld, though! But I love handhelds, so that's just my $0.02. I bought it, and I enjoy it. Glad you're enjoying yours! Welcome HB_Gamer! Ignore haters if you're enjoying yourself, and you'll be just fine :)

Thanks and it is good to be part of the SNK community.

I can't post a new thread yet but does anyone have their settings for either hdmi or composite on their HD set?

Thanks.

Thing is great as I have said before. The docking station has a lot of flaws but firmware updates can most likely fix a good amount of it.

In the end this thing could of came out with better quality then the original and the collectors would still be trashing it. I have been out of the action for a bit lol on a snes kick after discovering repros.

No, it's not great. It has nothing to do with being a collector. I got better Neo emulation out of an old Pentium 2 over 13 years ago. It runs the games like shit.

Cool story.

Glad you like stories because......

Once upon a time there was this shitty company that made this shitty handheld that some people overpaid for anyway because it had cool stickers on it. Months pass and still there was no sign of any new fake games. Suddenly as everyone's 90 day warranties expired, all the thumb-sticks and buttons began to fall apart. Luckily, everyone's buyers remorse turned to happiness as they all began playing real games on real hardware via AES and MVS. They lived happily ever after.

THE END.

Well, the more I've been playing on my hacked NGX, the more games I've been buying and enjoying on my AES/CD. Which means I've spent less and less time using the NGX unless I'm at work or on the bus/travelling. Am I doing it right? ;)

I can confirm this. I used neoragex on my pentium 2 with 400MHz around 2000-2001 and it worked better than this shitty handheld does. Also my PC came with a 4:3 screen.

Neoragex did even work better on my Pentium 200 back then.

So we can also confirm that the X would have been inferior 13 years ago. Literally, everyone "enjoying" their NeoX is playing these games in the worst way possible. Out of all the possible ways to play Neo Geo games.......THIS IS THE WORST.

I refuse to let you laugh in my face Tommo.
