Do you guys think this thing would be capable of running King of Fighters XIII?
No.

I just can't think of any reason for all of this secrecy. Surely a little over a month away from release they have some plans as to where this is going in the future. What games will be released, or if the handheld will be released separately, etc. I imagine more people would preorder if they announced a few more games...
I'm still trying to remain optimistic for this release. It's been nice to get some decent videos surfacing now, but none of them go into the depth I think most of us here want to see. I can't bring myself to order this unit until someone looks at this a bit closer, i.e. HDMI video and stick quality, other than glossing over it's specs and how great it may look. Also, I don't see myself ordering the current unit until more titles are announced. The 20 game lineup is OK, but It'd be a waste if great titles like TSS, MS3, NTM, and MOTW go ignored...
They want to get it out there and gauge the level of interest before they start buying licenses and placing game cards in stores.
Micro-HDMI doesn't do power. They need the old school audio jack for the analog outputs (otherwise they'd have to do some D/A conversion in hardware, which would cost them more money, which would cost us more money). It looks like the ports are all just pass through style connections to the rear of the AES shell. There are a couple things that I think they should have done differently.
1. They should let you copy your purchased games to the menu selection. It's seems weird to have 20 games on a menu, but then you have to switch memory cards to play the others.
I'm sure they could have added some basic copy protection or code entering to transfer the card to the internal memory (in the same way Rock Band lets you do this).
2. This...

It looks like you are about to torture the poor thing. Couldn't they make a single plug containing audio/video/power?
you said the same as im thinking! depends of the sales they will pay to get more lincenses of games to release.I very much think the reason we haven't heard any concrete future plans about the X is that they have no idea how it will sell. They want to get it out there and gauge the level of interest before they start buying licenses and placing game cards in stores.

Every one of you know that you want this fucking thing.
I love reading how everyone is psyching themselves out of it, or justifying their decision to stay away from it.![]()
Yes, but it's a Catch 22.

I remember standing in line day one for the SNES and seeing only like three games at launch. There was F-Zero, Pilotwings and something else I can't remember.
They want to gauge interest based on sales, but if they don't release a library of titles along with the NGX then the average Joe will think 20 games is all they get.
You wouldn't make it long in the industry. It's a general assumption that when a new console comes out, they're going to put games out for it. Look at it from the developers perspective...Just got covered on Engadget here: http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/31/neo-geo-x-coming-to-europe-december-6th-for-175-199/
Not me. I think it's a fucking travesty.
Keep telling yourself this.
But it is. Who in their right mind spends $200 on a glorified rombox with possibly no future?
Shame on you... there were five games. Super Mario World/F-Zero/Pilotwings/Gradius III/SimCity.

Would you REALLY wanna buy licensing rights to half the library from the get-go only to find you sold less than 25% expected sales numbers for the system or less? No, you wouldn't.
They're going to look at pre-order numbers and how many units are sold at launch and that entire first week to gague what/how many licenses they'll buy. The better it does, the bigger the risk they're going to take. By being negative on it, you only hurt it's chances more. If you're remotely interested, take the chance and buy it.
If it does bad or flops, sell it down the road.
Yes, but it's a Catch 22. They want to gauge interest based on sales, but if they don't release a library of titles along with the NGX then the average Joe will think 20 games is all they get. Who wants to spend two hundred bucks on a handheld with a shady future? If they're smart, they will offer at least a handful of games at launch. I remember standing in line day one for the SNES and seeing only like three games at launch. There was F-Zero, Pilotwings and something else I can't remember. But the thing is, at least we (the consumer) knew that more games would follow. Tommo NEEDS to get on the ball here now if they want the NGX to succeed. We've seen it many times before when a new product comes to market with high expectations, but because of a lack of support it dies way too soon. That is why there's nearly fifty pages of posts about the NGX. We are desperate to find an ounce of truth to this new system because we've all been screwed one time or another. Tommo and SNKP cannot keep us in the dark this late in the game. If they continue to "gauge" peoples' interest, then they will have buried the NGX even before it is released. F**k that.
I do.
