This is some complicated crap! I'm gonna have to call my brother in to help me :eek_2: :help:

Thanks again. chris. Your posts really help. I was planning on paining the front black part too. It has some palm-wear down to the silver. Any tips for that?

Your welcome..

palm-wear down to the silver

Well,If the Control panel(metal) has the palm-wear down to the silver,I'd sand the whole thing down(as I did) the paint it with primer and black spray paint..

I bought some ..more expensive paint then usual...but I'm really looking for some thick black contact paper.

I have a certain type of black contact paper(tiny holes in it) over my painted by me control panel on the Big Red..
But,that contact paper was part of a promotional Xbox window sign..that I cut up keeping a second intact.
I'm not cutting up the second promotional Xbox window sign so I need to find sommething else.
It's black so it looks blended in with the black of the control panel paint and it protects the paint from scratches..

I wanted to give the Neo Gold a good test tonight,Game play wise.
My wife decided to play KOF 02 on the Big Red ..I had the Big Red running and KOF 02 must of caught her eye..to my surprise.

So I popped Baseball Stars 2 and Street Hoops into the Neo Gold..
I was going to continue the Base Ball Stars 2 Pennant Race save I have on a "memory card"..when I noticed I can't get the memory card in the 2 slot motherboard... :(

Shoot, when they made this/these cabs they put the board in the center of the wood like it's in my Big Red/4 slot.
Whereas there was no intention of ever using the onboard memory card slot in a Neo Geo Gold's 2 slot motherboard.
Understandable since there is no access to it from the outside..

But,I've never heard any talk of this  .(xtoo_short20x---Sith05)...
I can't get the memory card in unless I move the board over to the right then re-fasten it to the wood.(not a problem.. but off tracked me when I got ready to play the game using a save on a memory card.

What's the set-up on a Neo Geo MVS 2 slot Dedicated "RED" cab..?
Is there access to the onboard memory card slot in a Neo Geo Gold's 2 slot motherboard? :help:

Sorry, I have never use the mem cards on my cabs, or my home systems, nor do
I intend to.

On a side note I should have my gold overlay here tomorrow or tuesday.

George..
Are you going to install/cut it right away..?
What's your plan of action..?

I still haven't made the holes for the carrage bolts to fasten it to the metal..since I have to take it off again.
I may be able to drill them(holes) instead of making squares like the old overlay has.
I like the look of it..It looks good with that overlay(new looking)

Note:
I have the joystick slide plate(whatever this is called 95-1306-00)above the overlay to hide the small cut holes underneath..these holes don't need to be cut to full size cutting out the whole black circle..
50760800_exploded.gif

The joysticks still have plenty of room to move with smaller cut holes.
However in my Red I have those joystick slide plates underneath the "red" overlay ..
The old original sticks were set-up like that.

It actually keeps the control panel from getting wear from the rubbing of this joystick slide plate..and the overlay stays nice/real nice..
..Something I cannot do on the Neo Gold with the repro overlay..

I'm pretty sure the joystick slide plate was made to be above the overlays though ..It's on top of the overlay On my Tekken 3/Candy cab and the lil BAM..

Now that I see that these black slem/sleave joysticks are Supers (awesome)
I don't know what the Chrome/thick stem joysticks are called in my Big Red now.
I thought they were Supers..They look just like the Originals...

I'm thinking I'm going to send my overlay to someone, so that he can cut
the holes for me, I don't have patience.

As for the joysticks, the ones in your red cab are the 'original' super joysticks
that come with the cabs, the ones with the black plastic slem sleave are happs
made ones. Same thing though. Now the one on the pic you posted that looks
like a competition joystick.

Competition sticks, by the way, are <3. Make them really sensitive. And put convex buttons. :P

Sweet gold cab, by the by! :3

"I'm thinking I'm going to send my overlay to someone, so that he can cut the holes for me, I don't have patience."

I'd say that's a good idea...

This Overlay is easy to deal with but then hard if no patience is involved.
I don't have an answer to the spreading yet,but I'll create something.
...........................................................
I cut the holes and put in the carrage bolts today...
Though I used the Chrome carrage bolts for now..I will be changing them later to Black.
I may paint the Metal Control panel tomorrow....
...............................................................
Yea..I used that Happs pic because it had that slide plate labeled..

Here's the actual pics of the Supers I have.

Thanks for the info on the sticks xtoo_short20x...
Do you know anywhere I can get the Originals off hand..?

I don't know of any site that sells the original supers that come with the neo
cabs...

The closest thing I have seen so far are these:

t-stik_plus.jpg

Now, mr.wizard is working on a project for me, and I had this idea
of buying one of those joysticks to see how they react on a happs 'hub',
because apparantely, these ultimarc joysticks are better suited for shmups
than for fighters.

It's not painted..It's this thick/wide Black tape that I have around from when I worked as a Machinist.

I have no clue where to find more.(it's some good tape)

The Control panel really only needs to be painted in the two spots where this tape is..

My wife came home and thought I painted it,She couldn't tell :)

I needed to do this for now..I got tired of looking at the unpainted CP and I don't have the time to paint it right now..Plus I have other parts to paint..

The next thing I'm going to do is put new T Molding on the cab..

Any chance that guy would do a 4 slot one with straight buttons? I had seen his red ones for 6 slots and 2 slots (curved BCD) but no listings ever for straight ones. If a replacement looks that good I wouldn't bother with paying my life savings for a NOS one.

I think the guy will make anything if measurements are taken/or a sample is sent to him..
He said he could get the Mini Red dedicated cabs overlay made with a sample or measurements etc.

I'd say..Send him an email with the pics and he'll let you know..

He's really never told me no on anything I asked,he'll just give me an explanation of what he needs to get it made.
He gets this stuff made from a second party company so he still has to go through them..

....Thanks for the compliment on the cab lithy.

Thats beautiful Chris. Good job. :D

I have found a stick that matches the feel and looks of the original MVS dedicated sticks minus the chrome shaft which is red. However, it cost me $65 bucks to get it over to USA from Europe not to mention that the stick is overpriced anyway. Heres a link to a pic:

http://www.arcadiabay.de/(jjggncyv3xwowe453tq1ii55)/zubehoer/video.aspx?LID=1

Just scroll to the middle of the page. They also sell what looks like original SNK style rotary sticks like the ones from Heavy Barrel cabinets. I've heard good and bad from this vendor but have done business twice and had no problems. The stick seems pretty sturdy and has a smooth feel like a happs stick. Its made in Germany I think but there is no manufacturer label on it. It comes with an extra, possibly heavier, spring and has the 4 way/8 way feature. I would grade its construction quality, based on looks, at a close second to the Sanwas from Ultimarc.

Both types are made by Happ: the chrome shaft ones is what Supers were like in the early 90's. I have a couple of manuals for jamma games (Gunforce and In The Hunt) that have an exploded view of the old Supers and they were even available with leaf switches back then. Maybe you can still get them from some arcade vendor that carries old stock parts.

I put one of the original Power supplies in today...With External On/Off cable with 4-pin Molex

80007200.gif

I got it in the mail today(bad pic) (Ebay/Cheaper then... )
The Power supply on top(in pic) is another I got off Ebay..cheap,but without the External On/Off cable ..(Love to have spare parts)
SIZE1_041.jpg

I had put one of these below in that don't have the on/off cable...they work fine but you can't use your cabs switch to turn the cab on or off.

80001500.gif

I also moved the mother board over and put in amemory card..
One thing I like about tis cab is the nice amount of room you have to work on it with the back off.

Chris likes the Cab..
