The only problem being, if they 'reproduce' them, they definitely won't be using 40 pin DIP roms on the PCBs. They'll use surface mount chips like any modern manufacture. They probably don't have the original print plates anyway, so they'll just be bootleg quality inserts and manuals with 'Now it's official!' stamps on them.

If 'collectors' were going to bothered by a Rerelease-bin-Saud, they would have to have had the same reaction to NCI stuff and they definitely don't.

Let's just wish for the following instead, at least they would be interesting historically:

Metal Slug alpha-ish build (tank only)
Dance RhythMIX
Anything MOTW2
Crystalis 2

Maybe they'll put a cart version of NTM Scotland out with the new series of Neo releases. I'd be happy enough with that, but more likely to get Metal Slug Tactics 2 I imagine.

The annoucement of a new "official" round of cart releases alone would send shockwaves through the community, make no mistake.

Ah well, let's not dwell on that any further, eh.

No more dreams, original o muerte it is.

We have many examples on other consoles. Licensed Columbus Circle reprints, or even Capcom's reprinted SNES games. These releases have little-to-no impact on the prices of the originals because of course they aren't identical to the originals.

Releasing new issues of home carts now would likely take a form similar to what @lithy is describing (economical surface mount chips) and the current collector's market for the originals would barely bat an eye.

Now, would such releases be compelling for collector's on a budget looking for a non-bootleg means of playing the games on official hardware? Sure. Would the re-releases themselves someday become collectable? Yeah, probably, but not on the same level as the originals.

I wonder if they still have the roms for all that stored somewhere. After the bankruptcy and like a million different ownership changes I don't know.
when I visited them back in 2006 they had a showcase with a couple of the last titles that had been published like MS5.

not sure if there is some hidden vault somewhere

For Crossed Swords 2 and Zintrick? My assumption is no, unfortunately. Just like they probably don't have copies of Mystic Wand and Last Odyssey (private owners have some of these).

Yeah I was looking at neo geo protos website which I haven’t looked at in like 7 years an I saw that a bunch of other random games with no ngh number were on it. I have to assume for most of them like that droppers game are just gone forever.

I have to assume since 06 most of the neo geo old guard has left so stuff just got lost. That’s really cool you were able to go though.

Dreams can come true.

Yup.

Sometimes I am not wrong, doesn't happen a lot but when it does it feels double plus good.

The plan is to get me a new oldstyle, Slug 1 and Shock Troopers. Already have a homecart system so no need for another one. The other games I already have or don't need.

It's so weird and wonderful to see Neo items on Amazon, man. Blows my tiny little mind.

The Future is NOWWWWWWWWWWWWW WW w :buttrock: :D

(That's as far as I can contain my excitement).

Yeah but… you can buy one in white now… surely that’s the aryan choice…

I am actually a little surprised and almost ashamed how much these rereleases have excited me. I’m probably as insufferable as one of those Nintendo cave dwellers when the SNES Mini was announced to have Star Fox 2 on it.

One big boon is how busy this forum has been the last 3 days. I hope that continues.

I'm trying to remember what kind of joke response I put into that survey. Who knows, maybe I'm to blame for the OverTop reprint. :keke:

I am hoping we can bind together strong for next time and get official rereleases of Riding Hero and Success of Joe Young.

Maybe they could do rom hack like they did for Neo Turf Masters and release Dion Riding Hero and Failure of Joe8 as well.
