I think for most games on the hardware, they probably did the best they could. The biggest issue is just that there isn't enough space to hold everything, optimized or not.
I just did a quick write-up on my Patreon about one "loading time offender" I found.

Thanks for another good read! It's hard to get too upset about Nam 1975 because it was a single-load game.

It's some what ironic that some 30 years after the console was released that someone is in a position to optimize the hardware and prove its capability.
I'm genuinely appreciative of his work. Spin Masters and P.O.W. are a treat on the CD and it's slightly less annoying to move/hook it up than my AES.

I wonder if his technique would work for Magical Drop 3 with all of its background animations in comparison to Ghostlop.

My friend, as we enter the final month of the year, will there be any special Christmas gift from you for the Neo Geo CD community? It would be amazing to enjoy a few days of rest at the end of the year with a new game for our beloved Neo Geo CD.

I wish you and your family great prosperity and good health in 2026. Long life to you — and to the Neo Geo CD!

Pixelheart needed an additional €29.72 to ship Punky Circus I already ordered. That's really steep. I only ordered because it's a curiosity I wanted to mention if I ever make a Neo Mr. Do! video. I know it just has new main character graphics and an updated title screen. @iq_132 's conversion of Neo Mr. Do! is probably just as good or better.

If you pre-ordered then they should have eaten that cost considering that it took over 2 years to get the game out. I'm glad that I canceled my order a while back.

Well, the change in tariffs isn't their fault.

It is considering that the game was supposed to be released over a year before any tarrifs were implemented.
Really? So the USA basically taxes it's own citizens through tariffs but a French company should eat the cost? Ahem it's an entry charge imposed on you by your government and so YOU pay. Development delays are just that, delays and have no bearing on what the costs are when someone imports their products into another country you delusional twit. Maybe you should pay the VAT when you send something to the UK then?

Maybe you're not getting it. Had the product not been delayed by over TWO YEARS, then the wouldn't have been any tarrif to worry about.

Maybe next time, don't take PRE-ORDERS claiming that a product will be delivered within 2 months and then delay it so long that half an election cycle passes and the first quarter of an entirely new administration had time to change all the rules.

A new administration that gave warning about their ridiculous tariffs even before they got into power btw.

If your shit is delayed by years, then YOU pay for it. Gtfoh with the political BS.

Analogue had the same issue and they ate the tarrifs on their pre-orders. All NEW orders are now stuck with them.

Meh, you're both right. It just depends what you're more mad about.

For me delays on these kind of products are the rule, not the exception. Whereas the tariffs are just stupid Mcstupid.

I agree with you about the delays on specialty products. What gets me about this particular case is that it's entirely the fault of the company due to their own poor decisions and lack of transparency.

It's not like there was a shortage of CD's or printing supplies. Whatever caused the long delay was because of poor planning and management.

Even after the long wait, wasn't there something off about the sound in the shipped product?

I'm not the one complaining about paying a little extra (which you should) for a shit game.

I can't believe you waited 2 years for this.
