We're almost on the same page. I love WH 2 and AOF 2. I dislike Jet and AOF 3.
I had no opinion on Perfect until Neo Geo X came out and I ended up falling in love with Perfect. I am hopeful to sell my copy of WH 2 and buy Perfect (assuming prices come down a bit if a re-release is announced).

I always found all the WH games to be pretty bad. Animation was pretty rough, roster uninspired and movesets likewise. Of all the WH games, perfect is the 'best' but I wouldn't mind not ever seeing this franchise ever again. There are far better options for wave 2/3 (hoping there will be more waves).

Saw this X post from neocvera. Not AES+ related, but it's yet another home NeoGeo product was announced so figured it's worth mentioning here. Not sure it's worth a whole new thread, but maybe neocvera can make one if it is. At EVO Japan they showed what appears to be a new Neogeo MVS based bartop with a 19 inch LCD screen. It's probably just emulation based, but still could be decent for someone who wants something like it.

Maybe they're trickling the best games to sell more wave bundles and increase the attach rate.
e.g. saving X for a future bundle with "weaker" games, putting 4 in with a wave that has other heavy hitters like Last Blade 2 or something.

Same here, WH2 and AOF2 are the games that made me know the Neo Geo on the arcades at the time so they will always be special for me, I need to give Perfect another chance…I also wonder if there will be re releases of titles like Samurai Shodown 1-2 that are relatively cheap but also important in the console library…

Absolutely, I mean it's less than half the price of the Gold system (no idea what Silver used to sell for). Plus what 35 years of hype and the mystique? I mean it's like if Lamborghini brought back the 80's Countach as a 1:1 replica with a few updates and listed it for $25k. My KIA goes up for sale on Craigslist the very next day...

Makes the most sense to re-release the most expensive games first.
If the NEO•GEO user base continues to grow and the AES+ remains available for years to come, we'll start to see those hundred dollar games become three hundred dollar games as AES+ owners start buying up the early titles.
At which point, it would then make sense to re-release them.

Everyone says $399 US for the Silver system, and my head cannon has always agreed with that since the 90's, but I don't know if I can find a citation.
Youtubers and journalists constantly cite the $650 for shock value, but when a game costs $200+ the fact that it includes a game and a big joystick matters. I try to be a Neo Geo evangelist, making the console more approachable, but constantly hammering the $650 package (which was never sold in Japan) only fuels the general perception of it being elitist and overpriced.

Gold arrived in 1990 for $650 and was available at many retail locations.
Silver doesn't arrive until 1992 and I only saw it available for mail order. By the time it arrived, most retailers were phasing out NEO•GEO.
