You fall into the category of one of us OG's. Doesn't really matter whether you happen to own one at the moment. Seems like a good product for people like you.
It should look nice next to my three MVS boards.

A lot of these johnny-come-lately's will disappear into the woodwork again about 3 months after this thing comes out. But I welcome all the new attention on Neo Geo (and hopefully Youtube viewers :giggle:) so hopefully some stick around.

They may not have taken the financial plunge like many of us did, but even though a used system was about $300 not long ago, I get it that it was tough to afford many games beyond the sub-$100 early Samurai Shodown, Fatal Fury and AOF games. Can't expect everyone to collect MVS either.
This can be an easy fix:
Step-one: update front page news, make it feel like it’s modern and not outdated LOL.

That's fine with me, that means if the sticks end up being decent there will be a ton of these OG compatible used sticks for sale for cheap come early next year and I can stick up.

With Taito looking very open to license games I wonder if we will also see Puzzle Bobble 1-2 on AES for the first time, I really hope so!
Exactly what I was thinking too! There are a few MVS-only games that would be fun to get an AES Version after all those years!

So true. I have friends that are in that boat. I’ve never sold a Neo console but am guilty of selling some regrettable carts. There’s redemption opportunities for all of us here.

For those hesitating about the NeoGeo—or those who think they’re getting 50,000 games for €899—go check out Olivier Wahwah’s livestream. He has inside sources and warns that there will be some disappointments (different cover art, booklets, labels, etc.). They won’t be the exact same games.

This is the arcade1up version of the AES. People who always wanted an original will buy it, but it's not exactly the real thing. Hopefully it will satisfy most.
Arcade1up is the exact opposite of what the AES+ is supposed to be. Imagine if A1UP had recreated arcade cabs at full size with asics or fpga's developed by respected community members. Then included arcade quality controls for those original $250 - $350 prices. They might still be around today.

They went so cheap that the literal paint from the control decks was coming off on peoples hands after a few play sessions and the emulation software was ass.

Or the way I read it,
OH GOD THIS IS GOING TO DESTROY THE VALUE OF MY INVESTMENT !

Basically confirms what only fools don't already realize. The games could all have small edits too.

One of my concerns with the game reprints is not just regarding the quality of the hardware, but what about content? Will they be uncensored? Imagine white blood no matter what region you set for Metal Slug.

Well, that was to be expected that games wouldn’t be a 1:1 to their original counter parts…but one thing I noticed in the render is that (might be wrong here) the carts inserts have the “Advance Entertainment System” omitting the “+” sign which is present instead on the hardware.

I'm imagining less concern for censorhip, and more for flashing images and other random weirdness.

Aside from that Neo geo got the same treatment with the Gold X, Neo Geo Mini. I actually like the arcade stick pro and the MVS cabinet, I’ve been on the fence on the newer portable device at the moment.

When they interevied the project manager of the sega genesis 2 mini, he mentioned sega wanted to do the saturn, the best thing they managed to do was the controllers, which were excellent.

What PLAION did with Amiga and Atari 2600+ was bold but they pulled it off, seeing their breakdown videos of said consoles always mentioN how close they got it to the original hardware, their 10 in bundle for the Atari has the dip switches execution, but I’m hoping since they took our money upfront, they have the capital to finally polish and fix their product before November. Fingers crossed.

That's how their Atari release are too. They list the console versions in smaller print.

Frenchies scared they'll be stuck with their bullshit nsi conversions. I don't mind different manuals, labels etc. I just wanna shove in a juicy Slug into my aes+.

Yeah it's just more nonsense from NCI land, even if a factory got brought back from the 90s via time travel to make these games SNK would have to add PEGI ratings and censor Taiwan and Rising Sun stuff for example

Like... this is the Neo Geo X if it wasn't a steaming pile of shit with the bonus of playing actual cartridges interchangeable with real ones. Get your expectations right, lol.

You can imagine a small group of whiners when they turn out to be very light carts with cheap plastic and cases, and low quality B&W manuals. Not to mention edits to the game code. That's all I'm saying. We should expect that.

Yea like lol a whole group streaming to talk about how these won’t be an exact replica of what was out in the 90’s 2000’s. Sounds like they are afraid more people gets an hold on these and find themselves happy enough to not care about the original stuff
