Jesus Christ man just wipe the white console clean once in a while and make sure you cleaned the peanut butter or semen or whatever from your crusty fingers before changing a cartridge, it isn’t hard…

I was wondering this also but since im taking managerial finance at the moment, it can be easy to say that their overhead for this is probably cheap since it doesn’t have any fancy electronics like disc reader, ram, or hard drives which requires more outsourcing costs etc

I think Indie gaming devs are going to get annoyed that this move has reset customer expectations for a new AES games. No one is going to drop €300 on a new (probably shit) Indie game now…

Does anyone else wonder how the new AES carts will smell or am I the only weirdo here?

I think that’s not going to happen as the limited production runs of NCI means they won’t be able to get their costs down to €80 a product. Also possible that they might now get sued if they continue their little gay france pirate empire. I hope it puts NCI out of business…

Not dropping money on this until I see pics of the main system /cart boards...as tbh I can see them very basic with a couple of chips making them feel light and cheap (flashcart like) bootleg copies. Even if this is a 1-1 recreation it's no different to having an FPGA (as it's still not original hardware regardless).

We do, kinda.

It’s reverse engineered FPGA chips. As close to original as you are going to get. It’s been a long time since the last official Neo game left Playmore in 2004. I doubt the equipment that made those games even exists anymore.

Plus, SSVS sold for 41,790 yen new in 2004. You can now buy a new copy of that game for 9980 yen in 2026.

I did not preorder the system but I would say that if they keep their promises, we would just end up with an ecosystem where old and new are coexisting and every accessory can be swapped, games included. To me this is a very cool concept and worth to put some faith in.

Will it be a 1:1 replica of an home system board? Probably not, but if it performs the same plus the QOL features announced, then it’s really something.

I can totally see why many are preordering the system (I might end up doing the same soon in the end)

From what I understand it is Furrtek's MiSTer FPGA code baked in ASIC. So it all depends how good the original FPGA code is (I do play Neo Geo on my MiSTer and never encountered an issue so I think we'll be good). The only disadvantage with ASIC is that there won't be any soft updates.

Yeh I think Furtek and Jotego are involved?...the Mister FPGA is 100% accurate far as I know. but if this new system is FPGA (even though Plaion say it's not lol), then outside of the nice packaging/plastic you might as well grab a £200 mister with all games. But yeh, I totally understand people get hyped by the nostalgia and want the physical thing
