I was wondering this also but since im taking managerial finance at the moment, it can be easy to say that their overhead for this is probably cheap since it doesn’t have any fancy electronics like disc reader, ram, or hard drives which requires more outsourcing costs etc

Even if they sell 100k units that’s an easy 25 million for them, my take on it is that since they never set a pre order limit they will manufacture each unit for each order as they go, the only delay i can see is demand killing supply and not being able to fulfill orders fast enough in a good way 🤷.
They're manufacturing ASICs (aka hard coded FPGAs in practice) so yeah more orders = more profit = business viable, hence no limit. I don't think they're going to go full ng:dev but yeah at least a reschedule of the preorder date is a given lol

Unlikely Amazon ships AES+ pre-orders without a protective box.

They warn you on item page when it's going to ship in its own packaging and for items to even qualify for the SIPP (ships in product packaging) program, Amazon has to run drop tests and give a SIPP certification, which usually takes a while after an item releases.

I ordered a printer from Amazon once and the product page said it would ship in its regular box.
It had an outer box when it showed up.

Pretty standard practice for big retailers to cheap out on packaging unfortunately. There should be an option to pay a bit extra for better packaging.

I'm not worried about it. My wife orders all kinds of shit from Amazon, and they only do that for things like food and bulk shit.

Lots of mentions about all the excitement and hysteria. It’s so true. I’ve been on multiple sites across the net and it’s overwhelming reading about all the purchases, and so many by first time Neo owners. Knowing that Neo Geo is going to be in so many new homes is outstanding.

My proud moment is that my own son is super stoked about preordering one (of his own volition). He snagged a white one which is surprising that so many are going for, but maybe that’s a younger generation thing. I can see the unique appeal.

Even if AES+ doesn’t succeed or is a complete bust, it’s entered NEO GEO into the awareness of a new generation and renewed excitement for the previous generation.

Dude now that you mentioned it, I forgot they took our money upfront if we purchased it through their plaion website 🤣 I hope snk/neo geo/plaion laugh all the way to bank on this for their motivation to deliver our expectations over the top 😍😍

Wonder if they will make a Khashoggi murder sim game, with the random appearance of some eurotrash dj.

It's not about the person Khasohoggi, but about what happened to that person. And that we pretend our nose bleeds around saudis just because we like their money and apparently their gaudy ass white AES system.
Give me French bootlegs over Saudi murder crap any day of the week.

A good thing about this is that French bootleggers and home brewers will have to downgrade their prices from 199-399 to 79.99. Huzzah
