You have to admit, though, if it actual turns out to be good and extremely accurate to original hardware, it being straight 1080p out with HDMI has to make capturing easier.

Of course, it crossed my mind. We'll see. The thing is I'm using a 9X scale 4K capture now, so I'd still at least have to run the 1080p through the TINK4K if I want to keep doing it in 4K. We need more information on what the HDMI output options will look like.

The accuracy to make me comfortable using it on a Youtube where we already claim to use real hardware is realistically probably not going to happen.

I'd assume it would just cause tearing, most decent modern TVs these days also have VRR

If the neo cd pad will be that mismatch of buttons layout and if they also improve the D-pad to not wear out quickly I'll be very disappointed, where is the 1:1 goobness?

Looking forward to see all dissected in November: system, carts, controllers, memcard... and if will work flawlessly with converters.


Edit: after some hints it might work perfectly with some converters.

Have there been issues with getting the NeoSD MVS working on the AES? I've been out of the loop on that.

Doesn't work. I think I've heard rumors of some older converters like the Daedalus maybe working with the NeoSD Pro.

MiSTer by default outputs the native rate if you have a screen that will accept it. Most new panels do

You can force 60 if your panel wont accept the OG frame rate

Basically every core on MiSTer will output whatever native refresh rate the hardware originally had. On the arcade side where some shit gets REALLY out of line it can be a pain in the ass but there are always options to force a tv friendly frame rate

my C4 OLED accepts basically whatever so I haven't really thought about it in awhile but when capturing some core timings do get adjusted for the capture hardware to want to accept them if I am not going through Tink 4K or Morph 4K

while I dont expect it at all it would be fun if AES+ had a direct video mode where it would output the native resolution over HDMI for the idiots (myself) who have the scalers to handle it as no console has ever scaled as well as a dedicated scaler

I would guess dip switches on the bottom, including the overclock switch. The Analogue SNES runs at an even 60fps by default, with I believe an option for the original clock speed.

You would think it might work, but it is a picky cartridge, so we'll just have to see. It's kind of like waiting to see if a game like Fast Striker (with compatibility issues) works on the AES+ or not.

My NeoSD Pro plays all games fine on my 5v AES, althought there's often graphic corruption in the menus, which I just ignore.

Back in the 90s, Neo Geo was VERY expensive — maybe the most expensive console ever, okay? Nobody could afford it.

And now they bring it back… and people are saying “wow, I can finally play Metal Slug without selling my house.”

But then you want all of it… and you say… maybe we’re selling the house again, folks. Sad!

But I will say this — HDMI AND CRT? Nobody’s ever seen compatibility like this. It’s tremendous. Retro gamers love me for this.

The MiSTer NeoGeo core syncs fine on every screen I've tried. Seems like most modern TV's can actually sync to a range slightly below and above 60Hz, even cheap ones.

On my old Samsung TV (1080p) Neogeo stutters. Probably the TV resamples the picture.
