The point im making is that you can still get a megadrive off ebay <$50 and games are plentiful, there is not a lot of $ on the table, however if you want to get a reliable way to play 32X games thats not cheap. There are a lot of collectors that would buy a Neptune, just to have a Sega prototype and have access to both libraries. I was considering building one myself but with the custom shell and donor parts it would be at least $500. This would also be a new set up to connect a Sega CD.

But what about the license trademark, is SEGA gonna license the name NEPTUNE? Just some obscure prototype from the 90's... I don't see it, but who knows at this point.

Maybe if they also included a CD drive, 32x library isn't that big but 32x and CD library is. Plus Sega CDs are so fragile they break if you look at them wrong.

Back in the day I enjoyed 32x for what it was. Most of the decent games are available in better formats but it was cool at the time. I played a lot of Virtua Racing, Virtua Fighter, Afterburner, Harrier... And my favorite was Shadow Squadron, which I think is my favorite 32X exclusive.

Still, not enough there to be excited about a reissue IMO.

I still play Virtua Racing 32X every so often. There were a few other good ports, but Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat II, NBA Jam, Doom and Star Wars just aren't my thing.

Shame that Bloodletting (Symphony of the Night) and Darkstalkers got canceled for the crap that did get released in their place.

Don't worry, I'm sure someone will do a mugen version of DS soon enough.

jfc sega home console fans are the absolute worst
(Second to Atari fans obviously - there's no redeeming them)

Nobody wants a Neptune except a handful of weirdos.

I can count the amount of good games on the Sega CD and 32x combined on one hand.

The 32x honestly made me sad because it had potential to be something really good if given enough time for people to program on it

And I'm a Sega guy. Bro, these are consoles that failed miserably and sped up Sega's financial ruin and exit from the console market. The r&d and marketing, etc, for such a monstrosity would not be offset by the "lot of collectors" (i.e. hundreds or so) who would purchase such a thing.

You guys know the AES+ would have 1/10th of its appeal if it came only with a metal slug homecart or none at all, right? It doesn't take a genius to figure out why a Goobadrive+ would be pointless.

Guys, you can still buy these POS consoles for cheap and there are 20 different rereleases of it, everdrive was always cheap even if you exclude the china clones, etc. etc.
"but muh hdmi" -> mega drive mini, mister style systems, retron stuff etc., they're all there. If someone is anal about accuracy they'll probably not mind buying a scaler... and also buying the real system
"muh cd, 32x" -> there are a couple dozen people who actually own real games for sega cd that still want to play it. Sorry kbneospy you're a rare case...

I mean Plaion can certainly try but I don't see much interest from people here at least, tbh.
