Alright fellas, I am a new member to this here sight so treat me nice! I just bought a Neo Ge US Home Cart System and want to add S-Video along with Stereo Left/Right to it. Now I know quite a bit about electronics, soldering, etc... but I want some pics & schematics of this procedure already completed before attempting to do it on my system. If anyone has ANY info, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for a KICK-ASS sight!!!

It is somewhat complex... you won't find the diagrams on a web page. Best bet is to get Jeff to do it in the US, or I could probably help in the UK.

Eggplant_Casserole,

Could you please tell me where to "tap" into? (pictures, pictures, pictures...) Do you by chance have this mod done to your system? Any info would be great.

AMEN brother!!! I totally agree. It is bull#$%^ that we have to PAY in order to get information/pictures. I mod PSX's, Saturns, Neo Geo CD's, N64, etc... and I have no problems showing people my work/giving out information. The beauty of this is that most people just don't feel comfortable opening their own system. This is where Jeff's services are priceless! He has no shortage of business. But limiting what others know is just plain stupid, shoot, if it wasn't for competition, prices would be sky high. When I find out how to do these mods (which I WILL, trust me), I WILL CHARGE MUCH LESS FOR THE SAME SERVICE!!!

Out...

Actually the price Jeff charges for a full mod (s-video, stereo, and arcade debug bios) is very reasonable. Far less than the price of a current medium-value home cart. Plus Jeff's work is top quality, very professionally done.

Sorry I don't buy that "I don't have any money" excuse either. If you have a Neo Geo home cart system, then you're paying big $$ for home carts (especially newer ones). If you don't have the money, sell the cart system and switch to Neo MVS and supergun, or just buy an arcade cabinet for MVS games.

I doubt you'll find pics/description of the mod process for s-video and stereo . . . maybe for debug, but you'd still need to buy a debug bios chip. Why go through all that hassle, when we have someone who does excellent work for a very reasonable price? Just doesn't make sense . . .

Kenny is not that symple to do Neo AES.
i also do PSx, PS2, DC, Saturn, and many system mod's and it took me a while to lear the Neo and how it works....
is not as simple as providing a diagram or a picture, the last time i help out a member here in the forums do he's own mod because of the fact that he had no money to spend, he end up sending out the system to me because he could figure it out, after i told him how it was done.....anyway, not that you people care but my price is $100
and that inlcudes.
S-video
Stereo
Debug
Shipping back to US only.
Same goes for conversions from MVS to AES, you have to understand a little on how they work before you do it. my price for that is $75
i though it was a good price and many people that had me do it (Mods & conversions) were really happy wiht the service and price......

No offense, but you can "CHARGE MUCH LESS FOR THE SAME SERVICE" (gotta love those screaming caps) but I'd never have you mod my systems, nor would I ever recommend you to anyone else. Given the choice of a seasoned veteran who has professionally modded hundreds of systems, and you, I'd pick him every time.

For the work that he's doing Jeff is charging a VERY reasonable price, so if you're bitching about his charges then take it somewhere else, as he's one of the most respected members of this community. If you're whining because he doesn't publish web page with pics to describe the mod process, thats kind of pathetic.

For a new member of the community, you sure got off to a great start . . .

This is a pretty interesting thread...

I can honestly see the merits of both sides. I can understand why someone who KNOWS how wouldn't want to just give away such hard-earned knowledge, and therefore jeopardize a source of income by giving people the means to do it themselves. I still think it would be good to have the information be free and available. I'd have to say in this case though, the risks outweigh the possible reward for someone inexperienced to try. After all, $75 isn't at all too much to spend to avoid a great deal of hassle, not to mention toasting a tough to find $200 AES deck. I'd say if it burns your chaps that much, pay to have one modded, get it back, crack it open and reverse engineer the work, then post the results. That's my nickel...

Look, I'm not complaining about paying for the service. I am also not arguing that Jeff doesn't do a good job; All of the pics I see of the outside's of Neo Decks look GREAT & CLEAN, I will definately give him credit. What I am bitchin' about is that I personally want to mod my own system. I don't understand why I should have to PAY in order to find out information. Like I said earlier, Most people are NOT willing to take the gamble of opening their own systems and fiddling with the insides. That's fine....contact Jeff and get the service done!

I, on the other hand, want to convert the system myself. I didn't know that this was a NO-NO until I wrote on the forum. For those of you who are already stereotyping me (chipbigmouthtalkeryouhavenoideawhoyouaretalkingto)..... get off. I have done over 1000 types of MODs in the last three or four years. You name it, I have probably done it. Also, I really don't care if you send your systems to Jeff. I am not here to "steal" his "business". I started this post in order to get some info FOR MYSELF. It was never with the intent of starting my own practice.

For every other system that I have modded, the directions/pictures/instructions were found ON THE INTERNET!! (www.neogeousa.com has all of the mods listed/explained except for the S-Video)

Before all of you jump down my throat & post irrelevant notes, remember, all I am trying to do is get information.

Adding SVideo to a Neo is not as easy as putting in a chip in a PSX. If you do it wrong, kiss the video decoder chip good bye.

Anyone that has any type of electronics background should be able to look at the circuit of the video decoder chip and do it themselves easily. The last thing I want to do is tell someone how to do it and they end up blowing their system away, blaming me for false info.

If all you need is specs on the video decoder chip, drop me an e-mail and I will send you the chip documents.

Keep in mind, this isn't a simple attach a wire here and you're done job. You need to build a small circuit for the chroma and luma signals.

that is the worst argument ever. many people (like me) have a neo because they saved up for it, for many months. say it takes me 2 months to accumulate $100. now when i only have 3 games, would i want to spend the 100 to get some better quality video or would i want to get a new game? i would take the game any day.

$100 is WELL WORTH IT for extra video quality, and you left out also extra sound quality (stereo RCA outputs) and the arcade debug bios, which allows territory change, hidden stages, and lots of other cool stuff. So you may not value the $100 investment as much, but most other people do. It's a dirt cheap price for a great, professional modification . . .

ha ha ha....smt soldering isn't that easy.

I've killed my psx and 2 pay as you go mobiles.

I then decided to get a soldering iron with a fine tip....lol...

Seriously thought, I wouldn't attempt smt soldering if I had an aes and wasn't very nifty with the old iron, I can do a ps now easy, but it's not really the same ball park.

If you bought an aes you must have expected to have to spend bucks on it.

Well when you cook your Neo performing the mod, let us know so we can laugh at you about it . . . oh and also I'll be watching to see when you start offering the full mods (s-video, stereo, and arcade debug) WAY CHEAPER than everyone else . . .

ChipWhateverYouCallYourself.......do you have nothing better to do than post notes on this particular forum? People like yourself will always knock others that possess innovation, imagination and independence because you can't comprehend us. You lack these skills & feel left out, therefore, you must resort to discouraging smarter folk.

I have not once asked you a question, nor will I. So why don't you leave this here forum and play in another?

No, it isn't that I knock you because you're "gifted" (LOL, don't break your arm patting your back dude). Its because you came in with an idiotic attitude, whining and bitching about how no one would give out the mod info and how you'd crusade for the community and offer mods MUCH CHEAPER than anyone else. See, it was your crappy attitude when you first came in here, mouthing off like you did. Maybe thats just the way you are . . .

Thats why . . .

Sorry, you must understand. I just don't like whiners, and thats how you come across. You bought a home cart system, now don't whine about the cost of a full mod to it . . . or do it yourself if you want, but I kinda doubt you can . . .

I now see how you have such a high number of posts; you enjoy responding to yourself since no one else feels it's worthwhile to. You have added nothing to this thread but negativity.

It's not about saving money....it's the principle of the matter. Information should be free. Just cause you can't tell the difference between a Philips screwdriver and banana split doesn't mean others can't! If you had the intelligence to mod yours, you would too.

It's about time !Arcade! posted the info. I've talked with them about this on several occasions, and I'm glad they finally got their site going!

I hope they post cart conversion faq's too, so that many others will learn.
