For some reason, Neo devs think that they work harder than devs for other platforms and deserve more money for it. The'd rather go out of business on $400 carts than print a batch of CD's and make the rest on digital storefronts for a reasonable price.

The connotation of "Neo Geo" is what drives a lot of these guys I think. "Neo Geo nerds will pay $4-500 bucks for this!", is a driving force. I think after the AES+ is out for a while, it might auto-correct SOME of this, as people who will ACTUALLY purchase at a reasonable price will be more evident.

I wouldn't mind so much them selling carts for $350 if they also sold digital download for like $20 I could play on my flash cart and/or through emulation on my HTPC.

the real money is selling thousands digital copies on the Switch and Steam.

Exactly, just let me buy the ROM and I will play it on MiSTer FPGA. But no, they will only sell me a ROM after 2 years since release and its encrypted to only work on a NeoSD which I have no intent to purchase. So yeah, I'll buy it at 90% sale on Steam with a code I got from a shady key reseller.

I dunno the game kinda doesn't give me wohooo vibes. The spritework seems nice enough but the level layouts/design, boss rooms, gameplay looks pretty generic. Meh...

There's been a glut of these "retro metroidvania" type of games in the last few years, takes a lot to stand out.

Yeah, for Necro Pop specifically, but the AES+ will be out in November, and chances are if Vengeance Hunters works with it, then Necro Pop will, too.

You have to buy a special edition of the NeoSD Pro with the rom already installed on it. They didn't really release a rom that will work with any NeoSD Pro. It's not like the same person is going to buy multiple editions of the NeoSD Pro, so this effectively does very little.

Ah, it was my understanding that eventually they planned to sell the VH rom for other NeoSD's, but I haven't kept up. I assumed they do the same with later game releases.

I know they want to sell a version with DRM for the NeoSD, but that hasn't happened yet and may not be technically possible. It seems like they just released the special edition as the next best thing.

Was looking at Terraonion's product page (where they sell Nalua products now if anyone is not aware), and noticed the NecroPop boards don't have the custom art like the Vengeance Hunters carts did. Kind of a shame as that was a nice touch, although maybe it was just too expensive to do again.
