Nanao MS9 missing transistor

Is there anyone who can tell me what type of transistor goes in here?:



It seems that the previous owner was not able to find a replacement and scrapped the whole chassis.

Can someone help me identify any other missing components?

should be a number printed on the board as to what component goes there

That one from the link you posted doesn't look like the one it's missing which looks like this, it has 3 solder points/legs and it goes pressed into the metal walls.

pretty sure thats a voltage regulator....

C515 refers to a capacitor, D502 to a diode. Which one, I have no idea.
Theres more than just voltage regulators that comes in a TO-220 package.

I double check on my spare ms9-29 chassis
And all of them have the same part#

Use the one from the ms8,it will work
Cause is the same one

It seems that this part is known for being prone to fail on these chassis, http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=45992 so having a reserve of these wouldn't do me any harm.

C515 is a capacitor that is 100uf 160v

It seems that this part is known for being prone to fail on these chassis.

HOTs and voltage regulators are common to fail on all CRT monitors, that is the nature of flybacks with age.

Unless it shows signs of leakage, I'd press forward. But this is why you should get more than one Regulator or HOT. Last thing you want to happen is a flyback blow it and you only had one.
