My GC library needs some new games... I only have three games so far, RE4, SSBM and MKDD and I'm planning to buy F-Zero GX anytime soon.

What's your fave Cube-only game, and, are there any cross-platform titles where you prefer the Cube version over PS2/Xbox?

The 'Cube version of Killer 7 is superior to the PS2 version and already saw a $20 price drop (should be $29.99 USD).

Not as good as RE4, overall, but still a really good game with an amazing amount of atmosphere.

How do you figure the GC version of Ikaruga is superior? If you've played both the DC and GC versions, you'd know that the GC version isn't quite up to par with the DC port.

Anyway, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes is a pretty awesome exclusive title.

I always preferred TimeSplitters 2 on the GC, as well.

SUPER MONKEY BALL

shouldn't cost you more than 20 USD

stay away from the sequel like the plague.

The game is also on the PS2 and XBox but the GameCube analog stick makes this game work.

so what if the controls aren't re4 like, they are stunning, especially remake.

Paper Mario 2 (you won't like it :loco: )

get Killer7 too, its better on ps2, and you must play it .. capcom rock.

edit: fzero is a very good choice its amazing too

get animal crossing! haha .. I told average joe about it and he was like - meh, and then 6months later he was nowhere to be seen - funny that .. :)

The Wind Waker is a must buy on the system.

The Resident Evil remake is good too, though the controls can get frustrating after playing something like re4.

Wind Waker and Metroid Prime are must buys if you haven't played them already

do I really have to mention Eternal Darkness?

I couldn't get into Metroid Prime 2

I hear Paper Mario 2 is good, but I'm not really an RPG type player

how about Super Smash Bros Melee?

it's a good game even for 1player

everyone should play paper mario 2 . .its hilarious .. I dont like rpg's but that was styled especially for that type of person, its simplistic, and very funny, very playable too, took me 53 hours to finish and I didn't bother with 10 of the 30 odd side quests. great game.

I always sell rpg's as once you've played them theres no going back I feel.

metroid prime is a very good choice, and wind waker, both are excellent, although they require perserverance to play.

You know, I'd actually say that I liked Metroid Prime 2 a bit better than the first title. Something about two parallel worlds to explore really sucked me in, and the battles with the Dark Hunter were goddamn amazing. That's not even mentioning some of the coolest conceptual art galleries I've ever seen in a video game as extras.

Try to sit back down with MP2 and you won't be disappointed in the end.

pikmin dude, pikmin. wonderfully fun game and one of those games that just keeps you playing until you've completed every bit you got 30 days to keep yourself alive and get off of the planet and back home. good luck

Some helpful replies so far.

I've already been thinking of buying Chaos Field Expanded but I'm torn here... looks good in a way, but something in the reviews I've read and screenshots I've seen puts me off, can't put my finger on it.

About Skies of Arcadia, started playing the DC game but never finished it. What makes the GC version superior?

I've heard lots of praises for Tales of Symphonia already, will give it a try, little ole' RPG-dumbo me.

RE0/REmake... here's my short RE story, when the first one came out for PSX, one of my friends went nuts and locked himself in for weeks to play this game. I remember that I enjoyed watching him play but somehow I never really found into it myself... years later, RE4 single-handedly managed not only to change my mind about the RE series but also the action adventure genre in general, now I really want to play REmake and RE0 but well, they're quite different to RE4 so I guess I will try Zero first and then see how it goes from there... or should I start out with REmake?

Killer 7... forgot to mention that it's on my wanted list too next to F-Zero. Good stuff.

How is Geist, btw.?

Strange and very slow. It's okay, but I would highly suggest you wait for the inevitable price drop before buying it, if you really want to try it. I bought it for its uniqueness and got bored about 2 hours in. The possessions would be cool if not for the extremely linear way in which you use them. And the shooting reminds me of FPSes from about 3-5 years ago.

Overall, I would call it the worst Nintendo-published game in a long time. I'd call it a $30 buy, not a $50 buy.

Chaos Field isn't that great, IMO. I bought the DC version since I tend to support any company that releases games for the DC, and it's basically an amalgamation of ideas that have been done better in other shmups. Buying the US version for cheap doesn't sound bad, but it wasn't worth the $60 I spent on my DC import and I wouldn't recommend spending $55 for the GC import, either.

Seconded, and as an exclusive, you MUST get Fire Emblem.
Fucking awesome, completely golden-age 16-bit style strategy anime love.
MGS: The Twin Snakes is awesome too.

Dont forget the Super Monkey Ball games either, they control far better than the recently released "Deluxe" versions for XB/PS2.

I've read about Geist being slow several times now... too bad none of my otherwise first-in-line gaming buddies bought it, guess I'll have to visit my fave rental store to give it a try first. The PAL release (w/ 60Hz option) still is full-price over here...

Oh, and Metroid Prime... there was a demo disc with one level of it in my GC RE4 pack, tried it but didn't like it, too much scanning... couldn't get out of the first big room so I figured that it's not my cup of tea. What's so special about it anyway? I mean, I've never played the SNES game, probably that's why I can't appreciate the attention-to-detail these games have to offer.

I have an eye on Fire Emblem ever since I've read a preview in a local mag... release date over here is november 4th, and it's definitely is a candidate for my wishlist... is this a sequel of an old series or a completely new game?

Well, I tried MP between two marathon RE4 sessions, I guess I wasn't too motivated when I played it. I found the graphics very cool but my fun came to a grinding halt after about two hours... guess I'll give it another run. How's part two?

Try and track down a copy of the Zelda collectors edtion. I would much rather play most of these games than the wind waker.

Also it might be old but PSO episode I and 2 is a great game and much better than its Dreamcast incarnation.

I have MP2 and it looks better, although the light / dark world thing sounds like pain more than fun, and I have held off until I finish mp1 one day, I'm 30% through and havent played in 4 weeks now , but fuck me , that heat visor is great.

theres some real nice touches in mp1 which make it better than most PC ones to me, it was made by ex valve staff too, and .. meh the controls get in the way a little but its still fun, very atmospheric, and a sense of being alone, the story is told via the scans you read basically.

but supermetroid on snes is awesome too, I played that after MP1 though.

You played Super Metroid after playing Metroid Prime? The game has been out for over a decade. What kind of Nintendo fan are you? Or are you just saying you replayed it?
