Name brand memory any better?

I'm looking to upgrade the memory on my iBook and G5. Been looking at some memory from OWC and not sure if it matters to get Samsung brand memory or the OWC brand. $75 difference for the 2GB for the G5. OWC vs Samsung. The iBook memory has about a $30 diff for 1GB.

Any thoughts or anyone know where to get good Mac memory for cheaper?

you could probably save a ton more if you dont buy "mac" memory from a mac shop.

2x1gb should run you about $100.

Just find out what sort you need and go look on newegg.

Macs dont use any special ram.

Go ahead and buy 3rd party ram.

Apple's old ram was exactly the same as generic brands and was simply marked up for the sake of it. Their new RAM has unique heat sinks that I haven't seen on any other brands except for crucial, and it's no longer as obscenely expensive as it used to be.

Currently, Apple RAM in new machines is marked up an extra 5-15% depending on the model and capacity with the only advantage being it is covered under Applecare.

Only thing different about apple ram is that its a lifetime warranty, of course that's if you can prove its the ram that's the problem.

For a 512 stick of apple ram it usually runs $100 each, crazy. I have 4 sticks in my G5 that I got for $200.

Corsair and Kingston are always good options (if they sell MacBook compatible ram, anyway).
