Anyone given these a shot?

Learning a second language has always been one of those thing I've wanted to do but never put much of an effort towards actually doing (My Harmonica Coach please.)

Spanish and French topped the list of languages I've wanted to learn.

Spanish being the most practical.

French being the one I've always found most beautiful.

Not expecting the games to give me anything but a solid understanding of the basics, so it certainly doesn't seem like a bad place to start based on reviews I've read, but I was curious to see if anyone here has personally tried them.

My brother is playing them. He's addicted to it. I tried the French Coach, and it's a good solid title. The only problem I have with it it's the fact that's a french-to-english title - I'm a native portuguese speaker, so it's some problem to me, not because of the language barrier, but because french is much closer to portuguese than english, so it causes me some extra unnecessary mental effort.

My French Coach is nice, helps a lot, serves as a good intro to the language, but doesn't substitute an actual course.

The My French Coach Level 2 (just released) is just a french My Word Coach - what is nice too, but not really a "level 2", as a continuation to the first one.

I suppose the Spanish one is almost as good.

PS: If you play, answer all the proficiency questions wrong, to better enjoy the title ;)

I have thought about picking these up, as My Word Coach for the Wii is really good.

I noticed that My French Coach was $19.99 new at Gamestop while My Spanish Coach was still $29.99. I am probably more interested in the Spanish version but both received decent reviews.

French version was $16 used.

Not bad.

I'll give it a go later at work.

Guess the Spanish version is far more popular as it was $25 used.

Well, post some impressions when you get a chance, as to how good this is. I like My Word Coach for the Wii but really would like to get the French or Spanish version for the DS.

Reviews were pretty good, just wondering how well this really works.

I got quite busy at work after I spammed this place up.

Should have played the game instead as I only got to sneak in about 30 minutes or so.

Seemed solid from what I played.

Lots of mini-games that helped stick certain words in your head.

The best part was comparing words/phrases said in authentic French with your own that you had inputted through the mic and then compare each back and forth through a few touchscreen taps.

Makes it easy to get a good grasp on proper enunciation and such.

Still early to tell, but it looks like it could be a solid tool to learn the basics (as indicated by reviews.)

I was just lamenting the fact that there were no foreign language programs for the DS the other day. I'm going to have to check those out.

I picked up My French Coach since it is only $20 new and I am pretty impressed with it.

Three save files, so up to three players can have their own game going it a nice addition as well.

Being able to record the word and then overlay it over the correct spoken word is really cool. So far, I have found the games to be fun and I like how it keeps track of your progress.

I did really well on the entry test (even though I have never taken French) but I think that might not be the best idea. My wife (who has taken French) bombed the entry test and started many levels below me. I now feel like I missed on some things that the game thought that I already knew (which I don't) and this is hurting me on the challenges. I may just start over and flunk the entry test.

I think I am going to go out and by My Spanish Coach now, since I am more interested in that.

My uncle bought them both, and actually found them helpful. The funny thing is, he's learning Italian.

Get the Spanish one Gameoz. That's the one I've been playing and it's great.

Yes, I am going to pick that up tonight when I grab Summon Night Twin Age. I reallly like My French Coach but I think that the Spanish one will be more useful.

@Verythrax...I had forgot that you said that but you're right. However, like any of these brain type games, I always try to out do my wife and with a language game, it will probably just hurt me in the end. It was fun to see her get ranked as a Baby though.:tickled:
