My experience with Kingsley and Coinopstore

I know Coinopstore has a bit of a bad rap on here due to the group buy awhile back but I just wanted to share my experience with Coinopstore.

Kingsley and I have been in contact for about a week arranging a deal for a New Astro City cab shipped from his shop to my door. He was very responsive with discussing the details of the deal and the condition of the cab. He also provided detailed pics at my request of certain areas of the cab so I can accurately assest the condition of the cab I will be getting so I don't have to drive all the way there to inspect it myself (I live 2 hours away from his store).

He promised the cab's monitor would be in good condition, have no burn in, and will come with a 2 player control panel.

We negotiated a very good price, made the detail, and he promptly shipped the cab to me.

He cab arrived in very good condition, and everything he promised about cab (no monitor burn in, 2 player CP, etc) was met. The only flaw in the cab was scratches and such that come with a cab of it's age. Nothing was dented, chipped, or broken. Honestly the cosmetic condition of the cab was better than the last cab I bought.

All in all, a good experience with Coinopstore. I would (and will be) buying from him again.

They fucked a bunch of my friends out of money.

You took quite a risk, but I'm happy you lucked out.

Personally, I hope everyone else avoids them.

I, for one, backed out of a deal with him after realizing who he was on KLOV. I've seen a few of those group buy cabs in person... they were NOT pretty.

I bought some MVS carts from Kingsley before. Turned out they were boots so I sent him a PM on klov and he instantly refunded me and apologized.

I have to say though that they looked legit on the outside so I didn't fault him. One was a Matrimelee and the other was a Sengoku 3 which actually had an official label on it but had a few MX flash chips in it.

is it safe to say Kaph33n:Kingsley as SegaFan4Life:Japhei?

No its definitely not him-- I have met both of them.

I have to step in here and mention that Kap33n contacted me about a Konami Windy 2 cabinet that he had for sale before it was clear he had any affiliation with Kingsley... not sure to what extent Kingsley was involved in him getting the cabinets but being as I am local I went down to check it out and see what's what for myself. I have really wanted a Windy 2 ever since missing out on one to another forum member here some time ago so I figured it was at least worth my time to check out.

I ended up going through with the cabinet even after having learned of his affiliation with Kingsley as it was in excellent condition and the price was right on. Kap33n was a great dude to deal with and I could not think of a bad thing to say about my transaction with him or Kingsley who delivered it himself.

I know people have some ill will towards Kingsley on here and if I was involved I would too-- no doubt... all that is totally deserved. They both came through for me though and were super laid back to deal with.

For whats it's worth.... all you guys that ended up eating bitter have every right to feel that way and to not give 2 shits about my "testimonial"... However, I would not give it if it was not deserving of it.

And, no... I am not affiliated in any way with either of them so save that.

I've actually had several good dealings with Kingsley, I've bought a lot from him actually(before the NAC incident, and a couple items after).

I bought a couple clones from him to test drive(running a non-profit arcade means I can't always afford to go the extra mile for authenticity, so have been trying to find some acceptable clones just to fill out the room alittle, since I only have 7 cabs and 40+ PCBs), one was faulty and he's been very good about getting techs out to fix it at no cost to me, another time he forgot to include keys and over-nighted them to me at no cost.

And during the NAC incident, he refunded me the full amount with no fuss, so I can't be too mad there. That whole thing sucked though, he got screwed by the person selling them to him, and he made a huge mistake trying to pass that off to the customers, so yeah, he deserves all the shit he got for that. You could tell it made him super stressed when he started getting mad at some of the guys here.

Anyways, he's always dealt with me honestly, so I don't think he's a scam artist, but I'd definitely be more cautious about buying from him.

Honestly don't know how you could even consider dealing with this moron after the group buy incident. He can't even strap a cab to a pallet without destroying it.

Shit for brains if I've ever seen it.

Bottom line, know your shit and deal with him personally or don't deal with him at all. It took a LOT of time and 3 trips to San Jose to straighten out my group order situation, and even then I had to spend over $50 to replace non-working buttons, missing nuts/bolts, and the missing 2nd player loom. That $415 New Astro turned into a $515 New Astro real fast when you consider all the gas money for having to go there three times. Everyone on here's got a right to be pissed.

What's even more frustrating is that after we get scraps in a bulk buy, now he has better cabs. I saw his new shipment of New Astros and they were certainly better than the ones we got. When I saw our shipment, I had never seen worse looking cabs in my life and I knew things were gonna be bad for all of us. But the cabs he has now do not look like they came from the same place. Don't get me wrong, they're not all mint or anything, but they aren't the garbage cans that came in our group buy. I saw Tango's Windy II and it was good for the money, I can't lie. He's trying to patch things up with a $100 discount for the group buy customers that got it bad, but I don't think that's enough to erase the bad experience from before. I thought I'd never buy from him again, especially after getting in a heated argument with him, but it does look like he's getting more legit stuff now. Shortly after arguing with him I inquired about an Atomiswave SD, he said they weren't for sale. I asked if it was only the AWSD's that weren't for sale or if everything wasn't for sale. He said pretty much everything so I don't think he intends to deal with me anymore anyway. I'm definitely interested in seeing how things go from here on out.

For the record, Kaph33n is not Kingsley.

I think the whole incident with the NAC group buy was nothing more than a bad deal gone sour. Kingsley should have stopped ATM he received the cabs before passing it along to the buyers.

In all fairness he did try to make ammends for many of the misshaps, so even though I don't see myself buying anything from the man after that fiasco, I can only hope that he gets better at this for future group buys.

I've had multiple transactions with him, and been a pleased buyer every time.

That's messed up...damn!

I will remember this!

Notice how that cab (mine) didn't even have sticks upon arrival. I couldn't even test the wiring because there weren't joysticks. Also, the screen-adjust board was fucked up as you can see by the picture - that shot of MvC should fill up the whole screen but the pots on the adjustment board were busted.

CoinopStore wouldn't sell me Quiz King of Fighters because I didn't order more items with it. I told them I would pay double the normal shipping. Then they emailed me saying they actually don't have Quiz King of Fighters anymore.....

If you don't have it, take it off your site. DONE.

That whole mess always seemed like a lawsuit waiting to happen.

This is eye-opening - I didn't need to spend the $800 or whatthefuckever they charge for the Q25 anyways. They say to never say never, but I'm saying never.

yes the whole thing was fucked, in the end my POS trash can turned out to be $1000+ to get it to real world standards.

I never did get the replacement monitor I was promised either.
