It's almost done, by the end of the day (it's 1 AM now) my gun should be operational! It won't be fnished (will still need a few cosmetic touch ups), but it will be playable!!!! I have waited long for this day, playing ROM's in mame while staring at my MVS carts begging to be played! Below is a picture of my newly created joysticks and my final RGB to NTSC converter circuit (it's clean soldered, no protoboard this time!). I've been pushing myself to the limits on this stuff, but I dont' care! I will be playing soon!

On the joystick you can't see the hinges, but you can see the latch on the bottom. It swings open so i can service the connections in there, plus these things will probably take a beating so I'll probably be replacing those sticks after a few months.
Note on the RGB converter, I used power supply connectors for not only power, but also for the inputs outputs. This way the circuit can be as modular as possible, and it will allow me to service the unit much easier than if I soldered directly to the board.

What do you guys think? Good, bad, or just think i should have bought a AES and a converter <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> ?

In an earlier thread you were the one who built the proto correct ?? It was'nt really soldered too well @ the time because you were just interested in playing?

Nice Controller there.

You should find some sort of graphics and maybe put a sheet of clear plexy glass under the buttons and stick, but it does looks nice.

Jhendrix: think you can post the schematics for your converter, does it work?

Oh yeah, the converter works, and I'm going to have a website up that describes all this. The circuit is basically the example ciruit for my IC (it's a AD725). If you go to www.analog.com and look at the datasheet for this chip you'll basically see my ciruict (only like 2 things are different). It's very easy actually, nothing anyone couldn't do even if they didn't know much about electronics.
BB - It has S-Video (I'm just not wiring the connector up for it yet, I need to get a S-Video plug with solder connections first). So I can add a S-Video connector later on, but I'm in no rush since I don't have a TV with S-Video on it. And yeah, it's the same circuit as before, I had it in a protoboard back then to see if I could get the thing to work at all. Once I verified that I soldered up a final version.

Darn it...my schools servers went down again, looks like the pics may be unavailable for a little bit. Just hope they weren't hit with another virus, god for a school about technology you'd think these people would have a firewall up or something.

Peace
