Had a shower thought - if anyone had the tiniest sense of business acumen and filmmaking, they could easily, easily make a documentary about the Neo-Geo+ and the people who bought it. It could so easily become this generation's King of Kong. Chronicling the beginning with preorders, the colorful characters of this community, the launch party (if there is one), and the aftermath. Oh man.

Last Action Hero

I remember watching this once as a kid at the movies and being real meh'd about it. Never played the games that came out for the SNES/etc but I remember it being pretty tame/lame.

Watched it this eve with the wife and it was entertaining. Definitely a nicely meta-movie about action flicks in general, not to mention Arnie's movies. I had forgotten just how many cameos the movie featured, even if for a "guy in the background" moment. Always nice to see Ian McKellen pop up randomly.

The kid they got for the movie - I swear since the year it came out - I was absolutely positive it was the red headed kid from Big and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. I was positive and I'd die on that hill. Same kid. 100%.

And, well - its not. And the kid from T2 is also not the kid in Big either They are three separate human beings lol.

I read this and I thought to myself, "HornheaDD you're retarded, how can you not know that."

And sure enough, here I am, equally retarded, because I thought Budnick (T2 kid) was the same as the bully in Pet Sematary 2. It turns out, NOPE. Budnick wasn't in Pet Sematary 2. The egg on my face is boiling HornheaDD, and I apologize to you.

Last Action Hero is fun but yeah, the kid always sucked. Not the actor necessarily but just the idea that there needed to be an annoying kid sidekick/audience surrogate.

Sliding Doors - night off from watching B-Movies because the missus doesn't like them.

Dramedy starring Gwyneth Paltrow as two versions of her character, and what happens to each after one catches the subway train, and her other self misses it.

Quite charming, although the ending is a little depressing.

If you've ever wanted to see Gwyneth Paltrow have two miss-carriages, then this is the film for you.

Late Night with the Devil- This one is fun. I know when it came out some people were disappointed because it wasn’t accurate or realistic enough. But I enjoy that fact that it’s hokey and kind of goes off the rails in the end. If you want retro found footage style broadcast TV horror go watch The WNUF Halloween Special or Ghost Watch. This is schlocky over the top fun.

Tough and Deadly - awesome action flick starring Roddy Piper and Billy Blanks as an ex-cop and CIA operative who join forces to take down a corrupt CIA drug smuggling operation.

Well made, with pretty decent acting throughout, lots of great fights and an explosive finale. Great chemistry between Piper and Blanks, and the film plays to the latter's strengths of giving him minimal dialogue but lots of ass kicking to do.

This is a great example of mid-90s action which has sadly long since fallen off of the radar. If you can see it - watch it.

If you've ever wanted to see Roddy Piper beat up a pool hall full of goons by himself, then this is the film for you.

Didn't think it needed the final scene (post-camera going to black) but yeah, ton of fun and a great performance by Dastmalchian.

What else can be said about this movie. Its completely absurd, asinine and I absolutely love it as much as I did when I went to see it at release.

While I dont think "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" is quite as good as this one, it has its merits for sure. But UHF is just timeless. Hopefully in another 33 years Al will release a third movie to complete his trilogy.

He's really good in this - dude should have had a better career in film than he did. I need to check out Immortal Combat... not sure Hell Comes To Frog Town will be quite my bag, but maybe I'll give it a try

If you'd have say a $30m - $40m budget back in the mid-90s and paired Roddy Piper with Sam Jackson in some nonsense buddy-cop action film, fuck me, that'd be fricking awesome.

A Photo of Gioia (aka Delirium)- A rather sleazy giallo by Lamberto Bava from the late 80’s. A former prostitute/porn star who now runs a successful nudie magazine is terrorized by a deranged killer who is murdering her models and recreating photo shoots from the magazine with the corpses. There’s more to it than that but it’s all a convoluted mess, it’s Italian after all.

Incredibly Italian and incredibly late 80’s with some serious boobage. The lead is played by the cartoonishly curvy Serena Grandi and she is naked for about half the movie. The fashion, makeup, hair and interior design are all heinously ugly. Everything is big and gaudy and sleazy.

The movie isn’t very engaging as a giallo and the acting is terrible but it’s weird enough and has more than enough nudity to keep you watching.

Sex, Lies and Videotape
This is credited as the movie that pushed low budget indie stuff into the mainstream. I can see why. It's pretty great. It's quick, easy to digest, and not too far up its own ass. James Spader comes back to town and meets up with his old friend, Peter Gallagher. Spader has become more of a bohemian over the years, while Gallagher has become a corporate asshole attorney and shitty husband. Spader and Gallagher's wife fall for each other, until she discovers his unsettling art project. It's definitely more serious than its contemporaries like Slacker and Clerks, but I think that's what makes it stand out among those late '80s / early '90s movies. Definitely worth a watch, but you may have to buy the disc. I got sick of waiting to find it on streaming and finally bought the Bluray during the last Criterion sale.

I give it four out of five commas, since they left out the Oxford comma in the title.

Super Mario Galaxy

Pretty terrible…worse than the first. It may have the honor of being the worst Illuminatikon movie ever. I think they crammed every single Mario character ever into the movie…as well a few from some other franchises. Worst of all, they were sold out of Yoshi buckets so I had to get popcorn in just a regular one.

I’m afraid this gets my lowest rating ever: 7 thumbs up.

It was a nice combination of set pieces to lock in characters for future Illumunation / Nintendo collaborations. It was less of a movie than the first that at least had the 3 part story arch.

This one was a family friendly 90 minute Family Guy episode.
